    I stayed in both Valletta and St Julians during my first visit, both were great. My next visit I'm planning on Valletta and possibly Gozo or Mdina but not sure about it yet.

      He forgot to mention.... for couples and families bugibba is the best place to visit. Dive schools, water theme park, aquarium live bands, cafes, restaurants, all within a 1 minute walk from most accommodation services. Shopping, clothing boutiques, hair dressers right down to you tattoo parlour. If you want England go to Sliema, if you want Malta go to St Paul's Bay. You can walk down to the foreshore and take a scenic cruise to comino, blue lagoon, valetta... alot to offer...

    We holiday in Malta 7 weeks a year we've stayed in St Paul's Bay & Sliema, i prefer Sliema, Mosta is great for shopping both the monday market & high street, expensive looking clothes t bargain prices. everywhere is fabulous in Malta at Christmas, getting the ferry to Gozo is fine but a bus from the port to town is a nightmare, about 150 people queuing for a bus. same coming back taxi is €30! & it's everyone for themselves. But it's worth going The Citidel &
    Church Are amazing, its a beautiful. Island with a lot to see & do.

    Where to stay in Malta:
    As a rule of thumb, try to find accommodation on the seaside promenade. It's stunning, and very animated during the evening. Behind it, the view is kind of depressing, with narrow streets, tall buildings of the same limestone-white color, and not a speck of green in sight. If you have to stay there, I think it's better to choose a higher floor and make sure you have a terrace available. Also, remember that parking space is a problem, and if the hotel does not list private parking among available facilities it's better not to rent a car at all.
    My top picks would be:
    1) Sliema Ferry - being close to the ferry terminal puts the whole archipelago within easy reach, and Valletta is just across the bay, a couple of minutes by boat. It's also close to a lot of nice restaurants, shops, and other worthwhile venues. This would be my top choice.
    2) St. Julian - a lot of nice restaurants, a small sandy beach, and a bustling commercial district will make your stay more interesting. Also, if you want to try something stronger, there is a pot shop nearby, 100% legal.
    3) Mellieha - if you want a real sandy beach, superb, great clear water, and with some delicious food available at a couple of nearby restaurants. Popeye's Village is also in the vicinity.
    I wouldn't choose Valletta for a stay. Crowded, noisy at night, no beach, and tends to be expensive. It's better to visit Valletta than to live in it.
    Anyway, my short vacation in Malta was great. Can't wait to come back!

    Nooooo, I just booked our hotel before seeing this video. Picked Bugibba/Qawra as our destination. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I didn't see much of a beach on the island so looked for resort with pools :)

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  3 года назад +1

      Hi Aylin, having a pool helps a lot in Malta. It can be really hot. And you can always grab a bus to the beautiful beaches as I mentioned in my guide to the highlights of Malta mel365.com/malta-highlights/#Unmissable_3_beaches
      Enjoy Malta and let me know how it goes. Cheers

    Is Sliema a good place to stay? Is it easy to get the ferry to Valletta?

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  2 года назад +1

      Sliema is connected by both bus and ferry. No worries with that. It's not my favourite part being quite modern and chaotic, but it may be an option if you are more into shopping and restaurants. I hope I was able to help. Cheers

    Hey Stefano! I’m moving to Malta in February and I have a question. My workplace is in St. Julian’s however I’m thinking about living in St. Paul’s Bay (due to the condition of apartments&lower rental fees). Would it be difficult to commute? Thanks in advance.

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  3 года назад

      Commuting is not complicated. Malta at the end of the day is not a big island. And St Paul's Bay has a great beach to enjoy on the weekends :)

    Retired couple to stay for 2-3 months what’s your suggestion. Not into night life! Thnx

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  2 года назад

      For seclusion and nature I suggest Gozo. Staying in Victoria helps if you wan also to have nearby restaurants, markets, etc. Marsaxlokk in the island of Malta is also another great option, away from the busy part of the island and with daily fresh fish directly from the boat (but no real beach). If you want a beach than Ghadira has to be (beautiful). Last I suggest Birgu, if you still want to be next to Valletta, with the many restaurant options, museums, culture, festivals etc

      It's all relative. It's definitely much smaller than Sicily but bigger than most Greek islands, for example. I think it's the right size 😀
