**Just to be clear, this is not a full-fledged review of the camera. As I have only had it for a week and in that time it has been set up in a test environment. I plan on following up with a review in a few months after I have had a chance to put some miles on it.** Also as one commenter pointed out, I might not have been clear that this camera doesn't support PoE natively. But with an inexpensive PoE injector and 12v PoE adapter you can make it work with PoE.
Saw a handful of "operation failed" in your app operations in the recording but you made no mention of those? What's that about? Did you test PoE functionality? I see no mention of PoE support on their product page or in the manual for the C8C. It would have been valuable to test and comment on the quality of the cameras color night vision or it's ability to detect motion. It also appears to have an LED spotlight and some commentary on it's effectiveness would be useful. It'd be nice to have feedback and comparisons to other cameras or vendors you're familiar with from a quality perspective. Overall: Don't be overly friendly to the vendors who ship you free stuff. This doesn't seem like a knock-out winner of a camera and you've left enough out of the review to leave me questioning the products capabilities and you're perspective as an independent reviewer.
Good eye, those did pop up but it didn't seem to have any impact. I did cut out 5 minutes of errors that turned out to be me missing a character in my wifi password. Now I have a TON of devices on my Wifi so I take connection issues with a grain of salt. Once I got the camera set up on my deck, it is been stable. On PoE I specifically mentioned that the camera does not have PoE capability, but I meant to add a text box on screen. However, using PoE adapters you can split the PoE power from the network connection and use both on this camera. I will cover this in my next "major" video of the installation. I did that with my Foscam before. I showed the LED spotlight usage in my section on color night vision. It is quite bright, but I won't find myself using it because it makes the camera stand out like a sore thumb. The only other camera I have that has color night vision is my Ring doorbell camera. The C8C can see farther, but is uses a visible light, which as I said before I am not a fan of. I was SUPER impressed with the B&W IR mode of the Wyze v3 and this seemed to be close (even though it was mounted closer to the back yard). I appreciate the honest feedback. This was intended to be a overview and look at features, not a review. I specifically stated that I am looking into what comes with the camera and its feature set. There is no way I can make a good faith judgement with a camera in a week. But next time I will make that more clear in the language. This is my first time with a "review" product. My last review was on the Wyze v3 that I purchased and had for 4+ months. I have tried to be a clear as I can (see the section in the description) that my opinions are my own. The video may have seemed overly friendly, but that was because I was reporting what the camera does and what I had observed in the past week. I plan on following up with a video in the future after the camera is mounted and in service for a few month. In addition, I don't have a ton of other cameras to compare it to. Thank you again for watching and sending your feedback!!
