I have got a old Electrolux Silverado Deluxe. I really enjoy it. It get the job done real well.. My mother had a Kirby upright. I don't care for uprights, i prefer a canister to uprights.. Thanks for sharing..
Oh wow. The model 30 is the first one? Thats awesome. I still have my fathers. Still runs strong too. I have no clue what year it is though. Ill have to look. We used it for the basement rug and a kirby classic III for upstairs. The Electrolux runs sooooo quiet. More quiet than most new ones.
I have a Teal 1502 like yours. A smooth paint job 70-73 with a PN-1 head. Missing the sofa tool, but it does have the original cloth hose. And I'll have to be careful about the handle..no cracks in mine. Thanks for the review!
I have a Model 30 from 1952. I bought a new old stock cloth bag and some new old stock exhaust filters for it, and the suction is actually pretty good for it having a 475 watt motor. There really is only so much suction you need to pick up dust from the floor. Back in the days when the 30 was being sold, not many homes had wall-to-wall carpeting, and if they did, it was low-pile. Area rugs could easily be replaced when they became too soiled. It wasn't until the 1960s and later when wall-to-wall cut-pile and shag carpeting became popular that vacuums needed to be more powerful and have power brush attachments to dig dirt out of carpet fibers and fluff them up.
If it's a 1952, it has a 535 watt motor. Post war models had the higher wattage motor. If yours is 475, someone put an older motor in it at a later time
Excellent cavalcade of Electrolux/Aerus vacuums. Very informative & appreciate the detail, especially on the Guardian but loved that model 30....a true classic! Thank you.
D. Pensak Thank you so much! This video took a week to finally load! I love the guardian and the model 30. I like them all for that matter. You’re very welcome.
These are very cool. I have just 4 machines and I think the initial purchase price for all 4 was $5.00. The cost of buying accessories, bags, belts etc., is the bigger cost. You have a great collection with many of the classics. I would love to add a canister style at some point but I don't see them at the auctions. My grandma had a greenish GE or Hoover that was a round roller. The wheels were...ok, I just found it online, GE Easy Roller. I am sure you are familiar with your vast knowledge of these machines. Thanks for showing us these beauties.
I love Electrolux
If it has a smell, it is most likely the brushes arcing and they need to be replaced. I had the same issue on a 1950's Electrolux Automatic F. Changed them, no more smell.
I have the Aerus Lux Legacy, Lux Classic & Lux Guardian Platinum.
I like your Electrolux collection. What is your favorite model? For me it is the Silverado Deluxe, model #1505. I'm not a collector, rather I'm an Electrolux user. I've only owned two Electrolux vacuums since 1974, Super J and the Silverado. My Silverado just gave it up a few weeks ago. So instead of buying a new Kenmore or Miele I have found a used Silverado on Ebay.
What about the made in Australia models like the Ambassador 2337 model
My grandmother had this vacuum for many years. Than we took it when she passed away
Very awesome model 30 I almost bought one at an antique shop for 30 dollars but i didn't bring any cash
Great video Thom. Wish I had your older machines lol. Also 10:38-10:39 reminds me of when i'm arguing with myself..spit my water out on my blanket. This is quality content.
The Model E has a swivel wheel
I read Aerus no longer produces or manufactures vacuums.
dfwajmark
They still do. They just drastically changed their website.
Actually, they only distribute vacuums. Production has been outsourced for around 20 years. Aerus may, though still produce attachments and shampooers.
what is the blower hole for on the 1205? Is it a vent? I just got one and I saw that slot opens but I'm not sure what it does. It just blows hot air out of it.
You connect the hose to the blower port, and it becomes a blower.
Arias I think still use that same bag
My Favorite Model is the Electrolux 7000 (2002-2005)
I like the white with the light blue. It still has manual knobs and takes the common Type C bag. It has more than enough suction.
The Electrolux type C vacuum bags are designed to fit both Electrolux canisters produced from 1952-2006
I dislike the Renaissance (1994-1997), Lux 8000 (1997-1998), Electrolux 9000 (1999-2005) for being much too BIG, taking the less common Type R bag, not having a full size crevice tool (when there was plenty of room to put one in) and having all the controls on the handle (which I keep on hitting by mistake). They really should have put a big On / Off switch on the canister....and had the other controls on the handle. I don't know why they have two spots for air filters on the top of the canister? Why not make it more air tight with one good filter?
For a good part of the 100 year old Electrolux history, many vacuums had the same parts and bags could be compatible on many models which meant less things going to the landfill.
i have a 6500sr for like 25 years i dont even know how old it is -even has this little "side kick" motorized attachment but i recall way back when 1st buying replacement bag at grocery store on package said some thing like fits all models from 1950 something on up. i was amazed ! think about that concept today?
lux is the best.
