as a Judoka (and a referee) I do have to tell you that Judo rules are constantly tweeked and adjusted, and as a result of that a lot of these throws have been made illegal in competitions due to high potential for injury.
EDIT: I would highly recomend watching some highlights from 2022 or 2023 to see how the sport looks nowdays
When you guys do come out here again, are you guys doing any college campus tours? If so which one? Also, would love a vlog if you(Daz) go visit SoFi stadium.
Holy crap you did it. Thanks guys!
4:20 that is actually no points because the blue judoka had no control over his opponent. (he should have kept hold of his lapel or arm)
DAZ lived in New Jersey..plenty of great wrestling talent from there . College wrestlers dominate MMA
Regarding the throws, judo (and other disciplines) trains the athletes to use their opponents' momentum to perform many of those throws. Often, even a slight change in weight distribution can provide an opening. Additionally, counter-attacks are extremely common where person A attempts a throw and person B responds with a counter-attack which not only nullifies person A's attack but results in a successful throw by person B.
Definitely watch more martial arts on this channel. I have a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo and a white belt in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If I ever had to defend myself, I can easily say that judo and Jiu Jitsu are what I would default to.
Here in the states there are fewer judo clubs than Brazilian jiu jitsu clubs, as the Gracie family focused their efforts on the United States initially after coming from Brazil. I am lucky to live in Las Vegas, the North American Mecca for BJJ. So many great teams to choose from here to train at. Check out a video on Brazilian jiu jitsu, maybe the best submissions, the history of bjj, or even the history of the ufc.
Aiden you should get back into judo! Take your dad to class. Have him practice his moves on OB Mike
I earned up to a Brown Belt in Tai Kown Do. Trust me, it really offers nothing as far as offensive or defensive training. It looks good in tournaments, but it's all aesthetics. I broke a bone in the middle of my hand by a kid that practiced Judo.Take Judo.
I have to add this as a side note. My instructors brother was a world champ at one time, my father and I would go to sessions early just to watch the 2 brothers spar before class. I still have a competition medal and personal accommodations from my Master. He was disappointed in me when the Judo kid broke my hand. This is all while we lived in Italy.
Beh cazzo,mi spiace. Come ti ha rotto la mano? Un lancio fatto male?
Very cool
Judokas in MMA don't have the best win loss records, but almost literally every single one of them is tough as nails and can take wild punishment. I think getting thrown so much toughens you up lol. There's also ground fighting in judo.
This is always funny to me because I grew up in Combat Sports _ take top part of your uniform off and see if they can hold onto your clothes _ then you learn who can fight
They aren't fighting. They are doing Judo. It's the whole point of the sport. There aren't rules in a fight. Take his shirt off to make it fair and then he stabs you with a knife in his pocket
I think these might be the tournaments before the Olympics
More grappling and submissions, please.
Judo is a Japanese martial art that was created in the 1880s
👍🏻
You call a judo practitioner a Judoka
To try and answer your question on skateboarding Aidan, I've said it before but I think that's just mostly your dad goofing on OB Dave always crowbarring in the fact he was big into skateboarding
5 gold and 1 bronze in taekwondo in the Olympics, then focused on wrestling because the future was better... only all american'd in my own state which is top 8, but that's also of 50 states. I had to to "try out" for Iowa state and of course didn't make it. no one knows what these people go through when it comes to martial arts, wrestling, or MMA. i walk around now 180lbs, been up to 200lbs, when I was competing i was at 135lbs. when it came to finals... 125. makes me sick just thinkink about it
i will never ever touch a sauna or steam room again
djento at its finest
Karate is not as legit as Judo, other than it's stance and foot work u wont see any sign of it in moderm MMA. kickbocxing, muay thai, bjj, judo and wrestling are the martial arts that MMA fighters usually try to get good at to use them in fights.
