If there is abrasion or wear then you need to replace. Sometimes it will be cheaper and of course also requires less work, to buying a new set of shock-absorbers(Forks). Try to check the cost of parts versus purchasing a complete set of a new shock-absorbers(FORKS).
There are two measurement methods, by quantity(70.5-72.5ml) or by height(76mm), see the attached link, in the split screen at the top left. ruclips.net/video/Q81TcIfJQ_0/видео.html
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling What's the best method? I measured the available fork travel and it showed 84 mm and I also learned that I should leave a clearance of 5 mm so that I get a 79 mm fork travel. Will the oil height method achieve this?
I do not know the numbers 84mm or a clearance of 5mm. I know what I wrote down for you earlier. The two methods I have listed are equally good. The two methods I presented work when the spring is inside, and the tube is inserted all the way into the cylinder.
Yes, oil from other manufacturers, and oil more viscous like 15W(to stiffen forks), or more thinner like 5W. It must have a Fork Oil ("Fork Oil" written on it). I do not recommend deviating from the manufacturer's recommendations: Fork OIL10W
Every model and its specifications, I recommend the Haynes books, which year is your model? You can try to fill according to level like in Honda Innova, according to height, 8:46 then take out or add oil according to the feeling.
I do not know the manufacturer's recommendations for your model. More oil will give you a shock absorber with more rigidity, less oil (more air) will give you a softer shock absorber. The main thing is that on both sides you put the same amount of oil.
Hi Great video and detailed. I have keeway f-act evo 2012 model and looks exactly the same shocks. Can we have the link where you bought the seals from? Thanks
Hello and thank you very much for your compliments. I don't know what to say about if it is the same part as my Innova. Google according to its part name and Keeway catalog number and find the deal that suits you the best.
Yes, it is necessary (8:35). The operation ensures that the oil penetrates all the oil passages in the shock absorber, it also ensures that the quantity measurement by height will be correct.

64 Newton meters is a torque. Torque is a rotary force, in this case 64 Newton = 64kg force, acting on an arm of one meter from the point of rotation. Newton includes the Earth's gravity.
I do not know. Try to see if the parts are with the same catalog numbers. If this is just a difference in volume engine then there should be no difference. But I really don't know.
Hice las explicaciones del video en un idioma internacional. ¿Hay algún segundo en el que la explicación de un detalle en el video no sea clara para usted?
Excellent video. But I have a question , changing oil on my forks I've notice that the left fork spring is smaller than the right one . Is that normal or is time to replace it? Or put a spacer?
I did not check if there was a gap between the two lengths of springs, I only checked that they separately meet the specification. A spacer with soft or weak steel will cause damage. I would not insert a spacer. What lengths did you measure? Because in any case a difference of one millimeter would make no difference. I have also shown that when you start ordering a few parts, it comes out more expensive than purchasing the whole fork, so you have to pay attention to that as well.
Thanks, but I would not rely on my quick response, I'm usually slow, and sometimes it can take a weeks. Two centimeters is a strange and unlikely gap. Maybe you got two springs from different models? One before 2007 and the other after 2007, because according to the Hynes Guide, this is the gap between them, two centimeters. ruclips.net/video/Q81TcIfJQ_0/видео.html
Very impressed...! That's the case and that explains it all. Bought this bike last year second hand, from the very first look I've noticed the front fender was from wave (the bike is innova) possibly they have had a small crush and replaced the fender and one fork. Tamir thanks again and keep up the good work..!!!
Please observe at 8:17 In the screen (1), the top left screen. 70.5 to 72.5 ml. Another method: when measuring the level 8:42 Screen (1), the height measured is 76 millimeters (without the spring, when the inner tube is inserted all the way in).
Hey! First of all congrats for your channel i'm a follower of your videos and I would like to ask you where do you get new pieces for the Honda Innova, thanks in advance and greetings from Spain!!!!
I purchase parts from several different Internet stores, as well as from local suppliers here in Israel. I check prices, and invite where the price is the cheapest, including the shipping price of course. I do not know what the situation in Spain. I purchase parts from Greece, others from England, Thailand, USA and more. One way to find a part is to type in Google its catalog number.
According to the manufacturer's instructions, it is recommended to replace fork oil every two years (Hopefully I am not mistaken about time). If you will decide to change oil, you will need to replace all the seals. In my case, I opend the fork because there was an oil breakout from one of the seals (the O RING at the top edge). When there is an oil leak, dirt will be stucking on the shock absorber, and you can also see signs of oil moisture. When the oil begins to come out, the fork stops functioning, and what you feel is only the strong vibrations of the spring, in such a situation it is very dangerous to ride.
The shock absorber is not completely symmetrical. There is the right side, and there is the left side. Some parts are the same, and some do not. For price reference (pair) looked here: ruclips.net/video/Q81TcIfJQ_0/видео.html
I'm not trying to say anything, I'm just sharing. My films are not a course in mechanics. Besides, the new pair costs 56$, my patch cost 90$. I'm talking about the cost of the parts and materials, in the garage you will also pay for the wages of the mechanic's work. The total expenses, and as an amateur mechanic, the repair cost me about 90$, while a new pair of forks costs about 56$. You can also see this as a kind of self-humor. In retrospect, it seems that only the replacement of the upper seal was sufficient. That O-Ring cost only 2.9$
Absolutely true, but in that case(Honda INNOVA), I could not find a way to make the repair without that special tool which cost me 28$ The special tool was added to the general account. But again, it was impossible without him, so as an amateur mechanic who did not have that special tool, I added his price to the general cost.
@Gary Dodgson Excellent thought, of course you can produce such a tool yourself, or use a Socket in a suitable diameter. Either way, the set that I bought, and made from aluminum, is cheaper than the price of professional tools. There is a unique difficulty here for this particular model, the seal is adapted to the pipe with extreme pressure. That's why you need a lot of strength And power to bring it in place. Using strong force on the delicated seal, without a special tool, will destroy the delicate springs that sit inside him. See the comment attached in the beginning of the comments area, a comment of Tyler Durden from Vietnam.
Sorry, I'm not sure I was able to understand your question, it is possible to make changes and upgrades, I do not recommend it at all, it can reduce safety and may cause an accident.
If the shock absorber is soft because the oil has escaped, then you need to replace the seals and put in a new fork oil. The shock absorber can also be stiffened by putting in thicker fork oil (depending on what you have now). I put in 10W fork oil, and I think there is also 15W and 20W. Other methods: insert a stronger spring, or insert a longer spacer (which will make the existing spring to be harder).
Hi, Thank you for your advice👍👍 What socket did I use (what is the size of the wrench, and what his outer diameter? And with what technique did you pull the old seals out of their place? 4:52
Hi. At your request I have checked again, these are the minimum dimensions that appear in Haynes Guide No. 4926 on page 5 * 1 I do not know if the measurements are too short, I know that these are the minimum measurements according to Haynes' guide, less than that, according to the guide., the spring needs to be replaced. (303.1 mm MIN is ONLY for models 2003-2006)
@@mogias7 The standard size for the 2003 models is 316.3 cm, at least according to the Haynes guide, so I think you are holding the wrong spring. On the other hand, according to the same guide the standard for the 2007 model is 328.8 cm, and I measure 350 cm (time 8:23) , so I do not know how much we can trust that data in the guide. It happens, not much, even rare, but it happens that in books, even technical books of the manufacturers themselves, you will find mistakes. Bottom line, it's possible that (1) your spring did not fit your model, (2) old weakened spring , or (3) maybe you forgot to put one of the spacers? Or other assembly malfunction?
Thank you for the question. If the aftermarket part is the same size of course there shouldn't be a problem. If you have a doubt please ask the seller and ask him for a commitment on this issue. If you order an upgraded part it will be possible not fit, and then adjustments will be needed. Either way, only a qualified mechanic can do the job safely, so I encourage you to contact a qualified mechanic. From what I know sometimes there is an adjustments that need to be made on the plastic cover . Maybe sometimes an adjustments be necessary to the metal chain cover? The original shock absorber is relatively hard and gives more stability, and a soft one giving more comfortebl riding. In countries where there are leagues of sports competition, there are also a number of other upgrades. RUclips has begun to block iterant links to stores, but you can share knowledge and tell us what brand and model you are debating about? what the name of the store you are going to purchase from? at what price? thank you very much.
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling Thanks. I am a mechanic. But i do not work on motorcycle but large diesel engines and generators in a powerhouse (small ones are 1 MW , large ones 9MW gensets) Recently i purchased a motorcycle and i want to do maintenance works myself as the garages are very expensive and they cheat a lot. Honda innova / wave series is very fuel economic, thats why i bought it. I am yet to learn the maintenance works of small gasoline engines. Its pretty much similar to big engines. Infact even easier as its only having one cylinder unlike twenty or 16 cylinders in the engines i am working on. The default rear suspension is a little hard for me and for many passengers hence i was thinking of buying an aftermarket shock with the oil reservoir. Do you recommend?
@@SaapeXD I am not a certified professional mechanic, I am a very high level non-qualified mechanic because I did not did state certification exams. Either way, mechanics are very nice people, in every profession there are unfair people, I don't get a sweeping statement blaming mechanics for "they cheat a lot". If you also have a good mechanic hands, and you have the tools, that's another matter.A self-repair(DIY) is very enjoyble and thar has advantages, for example: you don't have to waste a time for accessing the garage. And yes, engines no matter the size, built from similar assemblies, this small volume engine means less screws, less weight, less special tools, and therefore easier to maintain. I had a successful experience with the absorber of the Greek CUB model 2011(Nipponia) , yes, there are absorbers that are more comfortable, and as I wrote may require cutting in the plastic cover for adjustments.
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling What about this one: bikerzbits.co.th/honda-wave125i-g-series-yss-shock-absorbers-rc302-340t-55-gold.html The picture is exactly my bike. But it does not have the Chain Cover with the shock absorber installed.
The link doesn't work, assuming I watched the one you mean.....YSS All New Gold Series G-Series RC302-340T....It's a shock absorber for racing. It is very expensive ,relative to the standard. It can be ordered tuned according to your weight. And of course, its wide structure in the upper area(the nitrogen gas tank) probably requires a change in the rear plastic cover of the motorcycle. It seems unnecessary to me, you claimed that you are with a scooter to save costs. On the other hand, it's a quality shock absorber, only you know what's good for you.

@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling Oke!
When doing this, do I really need to replace the inner ring and the small spring?
If there is abrasion or wear then you need to replace. Sometimes it will be cheaper and of course also requires less work, to buying a new set of shock-absorbers(Forks). Try to check the cost of parts versus purchasing a complete set of a new shock-absorbers(FORKS).
I also changed the parts that you changed, by problem now is how much fork oil do I need to put?
There are two measurement methods, by quantity(70.5-72.5ml) or by height(76mm), see the attached link,
in the split screen at the top left.
ruclips.net/video/Q81TcIfJQ_0/видео.html
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling What's the best method?
I measured the available fork travel and it showed 84 mm and I also learned that I should leave a clearance of 5 mm so that I get a 79 mm fork travel. Will the oil height method achieve this?
I do not know the numbers 84mm or a clearance of 5mm. I know what I wrote down for you earlier. The two methods I have listed are equally good.
The two methods I presented work when the spring is inside, and the tube is inserted all the way into the cylinder.
Is any other oil valid other fork oil that I can use?
Yes, oil from other manufacturers, and oil more viscous like 15W(to stiffen forks), or more thinner like 5W.
It must have a Fork Oil ("Fork Oil" written on it).
I do not recommend deviating from the manufacturer's recommendations: Fork OIL10W

I do not know the manufacturer's recommendations for your model. More oil will give you a shock absorber with more rigidity, less oil (more air) will give you a softer shock absorber. The main thing is that on both sides you put the same amount of oil.

Hi
Great video and detailed.
Do we really need to pump the fork when refilling it?
Yes, it is necessary
(8:35).
The operation ensures that the oil penetrates all the oil passages in the shock absorber, it also ensures that the quantity measurement by height will be correct.
I see, thanks for the answer 😀 👍

What is 64Nm ???
64 Newton meters is a torque. Torque is a rotary force, in this case 64 Newton = 64kg force, acting on an arm of one meter from the point of rotation. Newton includes the Earth's gravity.

I have also shown that when you start ordering a few parts, it comes out more expensive than purchasing the whole fork, so you have to pay attention to that as well.
tamirkr thanks for the quick response. The difference is 2 cm.

What is the size of the oil seal?
I only know the catalog number as mentioned in the video
When it needed?
According to the manufacturer's instructions, it is recommended to replace fork oil every two years (Hopefully I am not mistaken about time). If you will decide to change oil, you will need to replace all the seals. In my case, I opend the fork because there was an oil breakout from one of the seals (the O RING at the top edge). When there is an oil leak, dirt will be stucking on the shock absorber, and you can also see signs of oil moisture. When the oil begins to come out, the fork stops functioning, and what you feel is only the strong vibrations of the spring, in such a situation it is very dangerous to ride.

do you mean its better to buy new fork assembly for only 90$ rather than to repair your old one because it much cheaper and most of all its brand new.
That O-Ring cost only 2.9$
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling but I think if you have a tools already your costs my less, you only pay for seal.
Absolutely true, but in that case(Honda INNOVA), I could not find a way to make the repair without that special tool which cost me 28$
The special tool was added to the general account.

Hi.
At your request I have checked again, these are the minimum dimensions that appear in Haynes Guide No. 4926 on page 5 * 1
I do not know if the measurements are too short, I know that these are the minimum measurements according to Haynes' guide, less than that, according to the guide., the spring needs to be replaced.
(303.1 mm MIN is ONLY for models 2003-2006)
@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling i have 2003 model....my spring is 330.1mm and has softened a lot so that it has sat down and hit the puddles
@@mogias7
The standard size for the 2003 models is 316.3 cm, at least according to the Haynes guide, so I think you are holding the wrong spring.
On the other hand,
according to the same guide the standard for the 2007 model is 328.8 cm, and I measure 350 cm
(time 8:23)
, so I do not know how much we can trust that data in the guide.

What is a good rear suspension for innova? Also can an aftermarket shock be installed with the chain cover?
But i do not work on motorcycle but large diesel engines and generators in a powerhouse (small ones are 1 MW , large ones 9MW gensets)
Recently i purchased a motorcycle and i want to do maintenance works myself as the garages are very expensive and they cheat a lot.
