- When Taylor Swift brought The Eras Tour to Brazil she never imagined the outcome would be of a death. Ana Clara Benevides Machado was a 23-year-old Brazilian Swiftie who died in the middle of Taylor's set due to an intense heat wave and safety precautions from the event organizers.
Brazilian Swifites are demanding answers from whoever was in charge and are not resting till they get it. They are also demanding answers from Taylor whose silence is louder than anything else.

An invitation for the family to a Taylor Swift concert isn't in my opinion appropriate, financial assistance yes, but done where possible in private.
The photo op was to prove she "cared." Big surprise!
She's very insensitive. Why would any parent want to go to the SAME concert that killed her daughter?!

the fact that the show continued after that (paramedics knew she had no pulse - you can view the interview at fantastico - a tv show, with the friend that she was with). they were screaming, euphoric, happy and crying of joy, singing and she just fell. she was very close to ts.
they took her to the tent with medic staff, and they said "no pulse" and called the ambulance. she was already dead at the venue.
why is this so important? because brazilian law is different and the show has two sides that are responsible for the spectacle: the show's organizer/staff from the venue And her staff. we all know that. michael jackson had his own staff for fainting fans.
and for the next day she cut the segment where they would raise a sign with justice for ana written innit - she knew....something was happening

Celebrities DO NOT care about their fans. They say they do but when push comes to shove - they don't give one iota about ANYONE but themselves.
I'm from Brazil and I have to say I'm shocked with her absolute lack of empathy. How cold do you have to be to leave a fan's body WHO DIED TO SEE YOU waiting for three days and act like nothing has happened? When three fans died here in Brazil during an RBD's concert, not only they gave the families all support, but also didn't hesitate to meet them in person to express their feelings. I was a child and I still remember. Taylor is definitely a terrible person.

long story short the concert should've been concelled when someone died or at least paused once or twice when thousands of fans fainted for free water supplies and aeration. Ana’s passing is not Taylor’s fallut but her public reaction afterwards speaks volumes. Yeah she is afraid of some lawsuits but I think this could’ve been handled differently. I love Taylor's music, I grew up on her, I really appreciate writing skills, lyricism and art. This death was not at all Taylor's fault, I'm sure Taylor never wanted this to happen. However, I absolutely agree with you Taylor could have reached out and at the very least paid for Ana's body to be transported. I think we can all learn from this that it is ridiculous supporting, idolising these celebrities to the extent that a lot Swifties idolise Taylor, because she would not go to those lengths for us and I think this story literally proves that. Actions speak louder than words.
At the end of the day, Taylor Swift is running a business and part of making that business successful is building these parasocial relationships with fans because that is part of what makes a career in music sustainable, a strong fanbase. Taylor is quite the mastermind, an intelligent calculated businesswoman but if you are one of those super swifties I'm talking about, I can assure you she doesn't care about nearly as much as you care about her. The venue and Taylor failed this fan. Venues and artists have cancelled and rescheduled concerts due to dangerous weather. It is well known how fast someone can die in extreme heat. The show SHOULD HAVE been cancelled.

Jesus, this is disgusting. I have never been a Swift fan, but to put on a concert with record scorching temps, is crazy to me. At the very least allow water in to the venue. At the very least Swift should have canceled the show and either refunded the money to people, or put on a show at a later date. I feel so sorry for this poor girl, she had her life cut short thanks to greed and recklessness of ALL parties involved. The said concert should have been postponed! It was in everyone's power to do it. As for TS and her team, their dishonest, self-serving behaviour had revealed who she really is. This is kind of off topic but it’s moments like this where I actually really miss Michael Jackson. Whatever your opinion of the man and his questionable behavior, he was generous as fuck. He’s in the Guinness book of world records as the most charitable entertainer to have ever lived. Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked told a story about a school shooting where he went to school and some kids had died. Michael had heard about it, visited the kids at the school, went to the funeral of the kids at the school and paid for the funerals and I think hospital bills for those kids that died. Michael didn't have to do that because the situation didn't have to do with him, it wasn't like the kids got shot at his concert, but he still did those things anyway. He's a kind and generous person but yes he does have questionable behavior, let's not forget that. He's not a normal guy but he does have a good side sometimes.

It really does not sound like Taylor. This is the singer who is praised for being so kind to her fans. I remember her paying for a fan's tuition a few years ago. Taylor wrote in her official statement that the fan died BEFORE the show which I thought was so low!!! Didn’t she die at the show?? You can't tell me she and her team didn't meet with the promoters and the venue heads to discuss the weather conditions beforehand. This is the woman who earlier in this tour did a show in the pouring rain despute safety issues just to "not let her fans down" and look like a martyr. My thoughts exactly. She is just hunting for glory, the safety of her paying fans is an afterthought. When this happened I immediately recalled a photo of her in the paper where she was celebrated for performing in a pouring rain. She beamed happily after, basically, putting everyone at risk by performing in unsuitable conditions. I believe that if this tragedy did not happen her PR would arrange for the same kind of headlines to go out.

When all I could think of was how Britney Spears had to cancel the last show of her Dream Within a Dream tour in Mexico due to a bad rainstorm. You can't tell me Taylor did NOT have final say over whether her show went on or not.

As people pleasing as she is, and how protective she is of her image, I can’t image this was her choice alone. Sounds like the big lawyers and PR must’ve talked her into this odd decision. If she were really smart, she would speak and just state why exactly she responded the way she did, even if it’s because she simply didn’t know what to do. Then, reach out to the family and ask for what their needs are, even if she has to do so while being completely secretive. We know the family isn’t going to ask her for money.

If I were the talent in her position I would’ve given some money to the family, I think most of us would. Sometimes I think Taylor is kind of a sociopath (partially) or too cold with others, or a polished image's celebrity, or a mastermind (not in this case of course)
The only defense Taylor could have in this situation if there are people on her team like a business manager and/or legal expert who exert a lot of power over her and prevent her from properly addressing situations even against her will. But that may not be the case and she may willingly be following their advise doing whatever it took to maintain a perfect image. They probably advised her to distance herself from a potentially incriminating situation and just wait and watch... to see if the story blows up. These are the same psychopaths who sued her fans during the 1989 era for making fan art. I always knew they didn't give a damn about her fans' wellbeing.

It said that Taylor reached out and they had their lawyers respond to her team because of their grief. It looks like they met and Taylor will be helping out like everyone knew she would do.

This was reported by the Washington Post a couple of days ago long before this person uploaded this video so it seems irresponsible of the video creator to not have included it.
Also, as the family already had lawyers involved (which was smart on their part) it was also smart for Taylor to have her team help navigate this.
I am a little torn about this issue. I like how you have been repeating that it is not her fault but you make a compelling and thought-provoking case about what Taylor could've or should've done. I do think that the venue has the largest responsibility for the lack of water and policy. The one thing I DO find extremely distasteful is that if the claims are true, that even staying silent would've been preferable and more of a respectful act, than the stories about her and Travis Kelce. Even in the following concerts, a costless gesture of having a minutes silence in memory of Ana, would have been more gratefully received I feel, by her fans, the citizens and the family. I expected or assumed that she would help financially somehow, after she has been known for her charitable acts, but I figured it would be dealt with in private.
Thanks again for a respectful video showing the responses, (good or bad, by fans or by the stalker types), and it brings with it a moral and ethical discussion about consequences and responsibilities-during some of the absolute atrocities elsewhere. Thank you ❣️
Where I live, in Perth Australia, they made it a law about 7 or 8 years ago that venues had to provide unlimited free tap water at gigs and festivals. Previous to that they used to sell small water bottles for about $7 and people used to pass out all the time as it's really hot here too.

I think it is her fault, she should have cancelled & rescheduled the concert- especially considering a fan was reported dead, i would have cancelled the entire rest of my tour. Period. That's ultimate condolence & respect. Cancelations are ultimately her responsibility alone. She should have had her team make the necessary checks that there would be enough water. It's her show, it's her fault. She clearly felt the effects of that heat, why she would just continue on like it wasn't dangerous for not only her 'beloved' fans but even for herself is actually insane.

This is crazy at least Ariana felt guilty when the terrorists attacked her concert, not only that but a tribute show was held in memory of them and raised money for them and paid for the victims funerals herself and I think she even refunded the victims money too. C’mon you guys. You know what *actually* happened. Taylor was worried about a lawsuit and felt that sending burial money could be used in a court of law as a partial “admission of guilt”. Behind the scenes, her legal team was working out an NDA and a large settlement to the family (with the promise they would never sue Taylor or talk about this incident publicly again). It takes a while to prep that kind of paperwork and that’s why the family stated they hadn’t heard from Taylor - bc at that point in time, they hadn’t. Shortly after, paperwork was ready and a settlement was made behind the scenes. The family received a *big* payout, and Taylor invited them to her São Paulo concert for some positive publicity and a good photo op.
Taylor CANNOT admit to everyone that she paid this family a huge lump sum of money to stay quiet, otherwise a bunch of other people who attended that same concert will pounce on the opportunity to sue and get some money for themselves (for their burns, or fainting, or dehydration, etc). The bad publicity would be a horrible distraction for Taylor, even if they all lost their lawsuits, and it’s not a good look for public image to have this incident dragged out even further.
So, the way she went about it was honestly the best that she could do, given the circumstances and the risks. Her legal team is very smart.

Ariana Grande did a concert after the Manchester United Terrorist Attack. I respect her so much for doing that. She also visited the survivors of the attack and paid for the funerals for the victims who lost their lives. ❤
Heat waves happen, I don't know why they're acting like this is some new thing. Brazil prior to this yr had the same temps in 2002. And again in 91. It's not new. Why these artists haven't prepared for this stuff in the YEARSSSSSS they've been touring to hotter climates, I'll never know.
If you look at the cost of water though, now there's something that's gotten completely out of control and brand new..... When venues are allowed to charge for water and do things to make it harder for people to be able to fill up water bottles for free like in a sink, that's a damn problem! When they're charging upwards of $7 (that's on the lowest end) for a BOTTLE of water, the same bottle that comes in a 35 PACK for $6 at Walmart and that's for name brand.... THAT IS SICK

Rest in peace to Ana. The thing is... its hard to blame the artist solely. The Venues know AHEAD of time their capacity, what Taylor Swift show is going to be like before she heads to their country, they know their countries heat advisory so do the people who are from this country so the venue in that country should've known better about capacity and had a better water supply since they know the dry heat warnings and should've been better prepared. If he would've cancelled it there would be drama to so its a loss either way for artists in this situation.
