  • Pokemon Gym Leaders are typically pretty bad, but what if we made them WORSE? That's right, today we're going to make Kanto's gym leaders as pathetic as possible. People often try to fix these powerful trainers by creating ideal teams, so let's create the worst possible teams instead!

That Vibrava could be quite dangerous, since it can paralyze, confuse and trap you.
Now, obviously the paralysis and confusion chance are incredibly low, and Vibrava has zero bulk and will die to anything. It's also not very fast.
But it can dream big, even if those are nothing more than dreams, and it's more than most of his teammates can do (because Gligar could land every single guillotine without being killed before it happens too, but that's even less likely)

This video is a fun idea, though I do have several arguments against some of these decisions (Assuming Gen 3 learnsets) (New options indicated with (*)):
    - Really going to need to define what is “best STAB attack”; is it “highest base power”, “best move that is compatible with its stats”, or “highest in level-up learnset”?
    - Lileep’s weaknesses are rather finicky to work with (Fighting, Bug, Steel, Ice) while having an ability that does something, so I would argue that it would actually be HARDER to take down n both Brock’s and Erika’s teams, lacklustre moves aside. Also, the page that was referenced shows that it gets Confuse Ray at level 29, which is the level that Lileep was indicated to be
    - Onix has even more weaknesses, 2 of them are quad effective, and Rock Head doesn’t help it at all. I don’t think Brock could sink lower than Onix, even if Onix has more moves
    - (*) Lombre has rather finicky weaknesses (No weakness to Fire and Ice), while Nuzleaf has the same stat total, an ability that is only marginally more useful (Chlorophyll), and even 0 STAB moves until level 31 for Faint Attack. (Unless the requirement is that it HAS to be able to have a STAB attack in the first place)
    - Koga
    - Haunter is a Ghost type and has Levitate, deterring Ground and Psychic types, even if running off its weaker Attack stat
    - Weepinbell’s Wrap could do fixed damage over time and is Grass-typed to deter Ground types
    - Qwilfish being Water-typed and having Brine could deter Ground types
    - (*) Beedrill and Ariados have Swarm, are not weak to Ground, and deter Psychic with Bug, but have a lower BST than Qwilfish (Beedrill Moves: Pin missile, Rage, Pursuit, and Twineedle) (Ariados Moves: Leech Life, Fury Swipes, Night Shade, Poison Sting)
    - (*) Grimer evolves at level 38 and has a lower BST than Nidorina (Moves: Acid Armor, Screech, Minimise, Sludge)
    - (*) Gloom has lower offences, and has to use Absorb (20 BP) in place of Vine Whip (35 BP), though Moonlight and Sleep Powder are significantly more dangerous (Moves: Absorb, Acid, Moonlight, Sleep Powder)
    - Sabrina
    - Kadabra with its Gen 3 learnset still WILL have a special attack, and at the level it’s at, it’ll be Psychic, so pass (Even then, the rule of giving it its best STAB attack )
    - (*) Chimecho has less special attack, has Psywave (Technically a special attack), and Levitae is not terribly useful (Moves: Psywave, Double-Edge, Heal Bell, Yawn)
    - Blaine
    - Houndoom with its Gen 3 learnset will have Ember, Faint Attack, Odor Sleuth and Bite, so it’s still not particularly strong
    - (*) Magcargo has the second lowest BST of all fully evolved Fire types, but it will have Flamethrower, Amnesia, Harden, and Rock Throw
    - Giovanni
    - Dugtrio’s learnset shown is from Gen 4; its Gen 3 moves would be Slash, Sand Tomb, Mud Slap, and Fury Swipes
    - Pupitar has Dark Pulse when Crunch is the same base power, is higher in the level up learnset at level 41, and is more compatible with its stats
    - (*) Sandslash has a slightly higher BST than Pupitar, but is stuck with Slash, Fury Cutter, Crush Claw and Sand Tomb

You should've switched that last Onix's ability to make it worse as Rock Head negates Double Edge's recoil damage and Sturdy only became a less useless ability from Gen. 5 onwards.

For the gen 1 stone evos (besides moon stone), you can just claim that because they have to shell out so much money since they loose, they don’t have the money to go to Celedon and buy the stones

It's technically possible for mud sport to do something on an Onix but not with those moves. Onix can learn mimic by move tutor in fr/lg and if it mimics conversion when fighting a porygon that can make it no longer ground type and able to be hit by electric moves.

Pretty cool idea... I wish you didn't break your rules in the first pokemon of the first gym leader though. It got much better after that, but someone seeing that might exit out after, thinking you repeatedly do that.

I know it’s not the video format but for Blane give him his gen one AI and replace all his super potions with regular potions. Hard to make his team worse when almost all water types in gen one can no setup sweep with surf.

The problem with lileep is that rock/grass is actually a good typing against the starter trio becoming neutral to all three with the exception of charmanders metal claw. On the principle of typing lileep is too strong for this challenge.
Onyx and it's weaker then an Oddish attack stat would remain a better leader pokemon
