- Here is, to the best of my knowledge*, the only surviving episode of Varoussac Promotions' Les Etoiles de La Lutte. This flagship show for the Montreal promotion started in 1980 and ran until 1984 (when the WWF swooped in and bought the timeslot, renaming the show Les Super Etoiles de la Lute while retaining its hosts, Edouard Carpentier & Guy Hauray. Varoussac Promotions would rebrand itself as International Wrestling/Lutte Internationale in 1984 and subsequently host its TV tapings from a variety of arenas. This show aired sometime around June or July 1983 as the interviews and promos were building up to the Montreal Forum card on July 25, 1983 (thanks to Martin Ouellet and and STVSuperTV for background info) and was taped at the CHLT-TV Studios in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Edouard Carpentier and Guy Hauray provide the call of the action.

*I do have some isolated matches and interviews in French from Les Etoiles de la Lutte circa 1984 that I will share soon. Anyone out there who might have complete episodes of Les Etoiles de la Lutte, please post them to RUclips. I'd be curious to see whatever you have!
Sailor White, Dino, Masked superstar.....always brings back memories. A truly special time forever in my heart.
Wow ! that's such a rare video !!! thank you so much for sharing it !!! As a wrestling fan living in Qc city, it's awesome to see those video clips.
Thank You from Sudbury ON. We were serviced by the Montreal Territory. On Radio-Canada tv affiliate from Ottawa we received this program which was produced by Edouard Carpentier and on MCTV-CTV out of Sudbury we received the english version which was the Superstars of Wrestling Program produced by George Cannon until the WWF took over the french version and folded the George Cannon show in 1985.Because of this the territory which was led by Gino Britto started to produced their own programs in both languages titled International Wrestling on the MCTV system and La Lutte Internationalle on cable which was a TVA aff. out of Hull PQ until they folded in 1987.Once they folded Sudbury was serviced by the AWA.
Gilles "The Fish" Poisson, Tarzan Tyler, Mad Dog Vachon, Killer Kowalski, Gino Brito, The Lumberjacks ... over the years the Sudbury Arena had some terrific matches ... and then the guys would pile into a car and head on to the next small town to do it all over again. I saw Hawk & Animal at the Coulson Hotel in the 1980's. They took up the whole door frame. Seemed to be simpler times, but they probably were not.
Awesome you met the Road Warrriors. As a pre-teen 85-88 I stalked the wrestlers at Golds on Lasalle. Ive missed the Warriors twice by only a few minutes but I met other wrestlers from Strong and Martel to Dr. D and the Rogeaus. The biggest asshole I met was Austin Idol but he was probably miserable missing banging his cousins in Memphis. The nicest guys were mostly heels such as Steve Strong, King Tonga, Samu and Alofa(aka Fatu aka Rikishi),but later on during shoots those wrestlers said they had nothing but fun in that territory. During the AWA year DDP, Madusa,Wayne Bloom and Paul Diamond(A Northern Ontario Boy) were very nice and took to my stalking very well.
Great to see Lord Al Hayes in his last run before WWF. What a great talent he was.
Terrific find!
I didn't know you Parlez ? I understand a bit but my parents did not keep the language
Brings back memories of my youths, à la prochaine si dieu le veut. 👍
impressive to see his lordship shoot in french...
Edouard Carpentier on commentary meant so much... back then !
wow i was a teenager lol i was watching tv with the rabbit ear lol
thank's for saving those treasure beta/vhs tapes lol
like Edward was saying:a la semaine prochaine si dieu le veut lol lol lol
what's your point?
que de beaux souvenirs
I think you can still find some 10-minute pieces of 'Super Etoiles de la Lutte' circa 1985 and 1986 plus isolated matchups by searching with 'Edouard Carpentier' and 'Guy Hauray'.
The Stars of Wrestling ....in my area of Louisiana the local wrestling in the 1960s was Les Championes De La Lutte . We still spoke French quite a bit back then .
That second match (at 9:30) is Fire!
Oh man, you are so right there. That is the type of match that I enjoy watching and would enjoy wrestling with either of those guys. Just good wrestling holds: Pure action less the hype and dirty work that comes with most wrestling matches.
I miss watching this in Montreal the best city in the world
Varoussac/International was such a great promotion! I wish I had more Les Etoiles episodes, though I do have a few more studio matches I can post soon.
Good match with Tony Parisi.
Anyone who wonders if Dino Bravo was taking steroids in the WWF, should watch this.
wow cool. edouard carpentier as host
btw, this is almost impossible to find episodes of this in their entirety, like this.. I used to watch this as a kid.. i loved it, tarzan la bottine tyler and eddie creatchmen! I think the boot died in a car crash with the ref from that show, Adrien Desbois, and another wrestler.
ironically, the other wrestler killed was Mad Dog Lefebvre.
Hi,
I am an french collectionneur, I looking for all French version of wrestling tape.
I have many of them to trade.
Thank for Answering.
Antoine, would you be able to drop me a line at zcare88@gmail.com? I do have 2 full Montreal TV shows in French, along with some compilations in French, too.
To tell you, at the Mad Dog Lefebvre/Eddie Creatchman interview, Billy Robinson became a face & turned against ex-manager Lord Alfred Hayes (who got Masked Superstar) & the rest of the heels & aligned with the Rougeau brothers to fight against Mad Dog Lefebvre & Pat Patterson. So , this is during the Bravo/Superstar feud that started when Superstar attacked Bravo and beat him with a chair . Maybe it's around the spring or summer of 1983.
Thanks for all the background info! My French is rusty so watching/listening to these interviews can be challenging for me to follow. I wish more complete shows were available from this timeframe. I do have some arena matches from 1982-1983 that I could share this weekend (including some Dino Bravo/Masked Superstar arena bouts). Do you have any complete Les Etoiles shows or matches?
Unfortunately I didn't have a VHS recorder in the early 80's so I don't have any recorded wrestling from those years, the only thing I have is the 3 DVDs on "Golden Age Of Quebec Wrestling". But I really did watch regularly "Les Etoiles de la Lutte" from 1981 to 1984 and good parts of "Lutte internationale" 1985-86
This show probably aired in late June or July of '83 as the build-up for the big card @ Paul-Sauve (result from History of WWE website);
Montreal, Quebec - July 25, 1983 (18,347)
Boo Boucher defeated Tony Rico
Louis Lawrence defeated Mr. Hito via disqualification
Tony Parisi, Gino Brito, & Armand Rougeau defeated Gilles Poisson, Sailor White, & Kurt Von Hess
Rick Martel & Billy Robinson defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Wild Samoans via disqualification
Abdullah the Butcher defeated Gino Brito
Andre the Giant defeated Blackjack Mulligan via disqualification
Dino Bravo defeated the Masked Superstar
Pat Patterson & Pierre Lefebvre defeated Jacques & Raymond Rougeau
Masked Superstar started at WWF Tv tapings shortly after this in Aug '83, and full time with WWF in Oct.
Thanks a ton! I'll update the title and description accordingly.
I never got to see Pierre Lefebvre but I always wanted to . I would see his name in the match results of WWF show in PWI magazine
you have any Pat Patterson interviews in french ??
Oh how I hated Eddie Creatchman as a kid!
His son pretty boy Floyd used to live on my street in St. Laurent. Eddy would come to visit with his big white Cadillac
31:17 A mad women screams to Sailor White:"Maudi gros criss de tabarnak!" lol
@@Saturnaa HAHAHAHAHA
AWEILLE DENIS!!!
I hope sometime that someone can add sub-titles to French-language RUclips videos. That's how I usually watch these videos, because I can read French better than I can listen to it.
nice move at 15:00
buy bull ...I busted while watching the bigger stud dad humili-wrestle the wimpy kid....love matches like that...dad teachin the son a cocky, punishing, wrestling lesson ...and dad seemingly enjoying it a bit too much, heheheh
It's a classic match for sure. Parisi is def enjoying wrestling his boy.
Tony Parisi and Raymond Coutu were not related in any way; definitely not father and son.
Its Toni Parisi vs Raymond COUTU
Thank you kindly! Will add the info in the description.
TheWrestlingArchivist No worries my friend, but you made a mistake again lolll...You put an "o" at the end of his last name, like I said its a "u". Coutu. Its a French Québécois last name, Coutu. ;)
LOL, thank you for catching that typo! I was out to lunch that today. I have fixed Raymond Coutu's name.
