I use darktable and Gimp on a Linux system rather than Adobe software. However, I can easily translate these techniques to darktable. It give a new dimension to shooting in dull, overcast weather so a very useful video. Many thanks. subscribed.
Christian, Thank you for your wonderful expression! The boat is so beautiful! I shot a boat video, I haven’t made the boats so well. Now I am inspired by your fantastic project. I am sorry to watch your project late. My greetings to you!
you always point out those things what we really need to increase our images' quality... in the spot and top-notch/high quality video from as always... herzlichen Dank und viele Grüsse aus Budapest, Edward 😊
Some nice techniques here, however as mentioned elsewhere in the comments the water reflections cannot be brighter than the sky. I would also add that the boat reflection on the water is now too dark compared to the hull adjustments you did. This is the danger of spot adjustments, go to far and it breaks the reality of the image.
Hi Ravi, thanks for the comment! I hope I can do a wildlife editing video the upcoming weeks, currently I have a few photos on my camera for that, that I need to check once I'm back home
Hey Christian, what is the source of the light that illuminates the boat but not the pillar next to it or the water around it? I'm asking for a friend who understands how light works. Great job, but the way.
Excellent video as usual. One thing I've wondered about, do you add any extra sharpening upon export (sharpen for screen etc) or do you leave it as it is??
Thanks a lot! I use the TK Panel plug in in Photoshop to downsize and export my images, the TK panel will also add some more sharpening while exporting
Great video, first-time viewer. Can you tell me how/what you're doing to be able to select everything at one time, then removing them all together ??, I didn't know this was possible
Thank you so much! Do you mean during the masking process? Basically first you create a mask (for example select subject) you can then further adjust the mask by subtracting, adding or intersecting other masks with it and thus you can create very complex selections in your photos
@ThePhlogPhotography No I'm actually referring to at the 11:00 minute mark when you go into Photoshop. You were removing several things and selecting them all together then deleting them all at one time. How were you able to select multiple areas to remove all together then delete them all at the same time ?? Hopefully that makes sense
Thank you! What helped me the most was to try replicating the style of photos I liked by just playing with different sliders for hours. But if you want to get a basic understanding of lightrooms editing tools you can watch my Lightroom Masterclass Playlist here on my channel which is aimed towards beginners!
Interesting tutorial, good explanations. For the masking. Where you want to “intersect” try only hold alt key. The buttons Add and substract will change. Its much faster and easier then going with full menu

Some criticism. Reflection of the sky is brighter than sky itself. boat is a lot brighter than its reflection. This is not a photo anymore.
Thanks Christian, I learned much more about masks in 12 min of your video than in hours spent in other tutorials. Thanks a lot! 🙏
That means a lot to me, thank you!
Fairly instructive video. I love how you push the LR masking functions to its limits. Cheers …
Thank you so much!
hey Christian, you explain everything in a very outstanding fashion, easy to understand ! A are truly a master
Thank you very much!

Thank you so much!
Love the videos! Could you also include what buttons you’re pressing in the videos. I’m still learning how to use Lightroom and photoshop
Thanks for the comment! I'll try to include the keys I press more often in future videos, hope I will remember that :-)

Very nice, do you have a recommendation for starting in LR Classic?

Hey, thank you for pointing out the shortcut! However, I have tried this a few times, but the buttons wont change, I'm not sure whats going on here :(
Wonderful!!
perfect!
Great thank you
Masterclass!
This is a great content & editing was good. But I think the horizon line is a bit tilted, so you had to rotate the picture slightly. Thanks again 🤍
Thank you for the comment! The horizon might be a litte of, always hard to judge for me :-)
Debatable! this is a lake not the sea, if the far edge of the lake is not parallel to the viewer then it will not be horizontal.
great!!!
Problem here is that the reflection of the clouds in the water is brighter than the sky. That cannot happen.
Reflections cannot be brighter than the sky itself. Just saying...
This
What do you refer to?
I see this in almost every overly processed landscape photo. It's really disturbing and not beautiful...
