    I’m a fairly new swimmer, learning at 60. After I hurt my shoulder and healed, I now swim for long strokes and good form, and not just for speed.

    I swam 4000 yards today, in 1:43, and burned 1500 calories.

    Its not a question of how many are used.....its the type of contraction....zero eccentric contraction whilst swimming, every muscle only shortens, it does not lengthen under load , an important consideration missed here
