I have always said that with oval racing, you can’t afford to miss a turn even the slightest, but with road corses you can have that bad turn and still hit a good lap and even make it up in the next. Lando came off really well here IMO. Pagenaud acted like a little baby and took out Lando. Lando was just sitting there cackling and laughing on his stream and finished it off by saying "what a loser!". Good sportsmanship goes a long way to gaining fans. I think Pagenaud may have lost a few today.

This speaks to the difference between these little regional race car drivers and proper world class drivers: Simply better, more class, professional. I stopped watching little Indy bumpercars and Nascar childsplay years ago.
May 2019, myself and a bunch of F1 loving mates had a bbq. We watched the Monaco GP (admittedly, a shite race as usual!) followed by the Indy500. They admitted to me afterwards that I was right, Indycar is amazing - they enjoyed “cars turning left” more than they expected. Fast forward 12 months, they watched this, and all of the texts I’ve received say “won’t watch Indycar ever again”. As a UK Indycar fan (well, motor racing fan), I think this is a real shame. Bad day for the sport. If real drivers are going to do sim racing, they need to behave as if they’re in real racing cars. “The Race” today had the best sim racing. They’ve separated the “sim” racers from the “pro” racers from the “legend” racers into separate categories.
Like any other of the online racing series weren't filled with a bunch of crashes? Indycar had probably the best effort getting most of their drivers and also stars from other categories to race in this iracing series. I think that is something that should be a positive mark for Indycar. I am an American F1 fan. I have been to 4 F1 races. I also do very much enjoy Indycar and I am glad there is an Indycar race in Portland where I am from. Also, claiming that it's a more pure racing series than F1, isn't exactly accurate. For those reasons I already talked about above included. Stuff surrounding it is all about racing. I've never ever in my life seen an ad during an F1 race, or some narrative or bullshit unrelated to the sport pushed onto me through it. And then there's the on-track stuff itself. Some people just fail to understand that racing is about more than a lot of overtakes, or giving drivers very similar amount of points for placement, so that the competition is closer by default. It's more about what it takes to get to that overtake, or to collect those points. F1 is far more demanding that sense, and that's why the racing in it has far more depth and why a single overtake in F1 is worth more than 10 in some other series where it's easy to do it. To give you an analogy, it's like saying basketball is a better sport than football because players in basketball score more often. Well, no, because when a basketball player scores, it's not even a big deal, when a football player scores, entire countries erupt in joy and it's a massive thing, because it's MUCH harder to accomplish and there's far more importance to it. This is something that people who aren't used to watching F1 don't understand, and then they watch it, and think it's boring because there isn't constant action, crashes, overtakes, etc., and because they're new to it, and don't understand the huge amount of things that happen under the surface, they can't appreciate it. Those who understand what's going on under the surface, appreciate it. We appreciate that certain teams invest loads of money, energy and effort into building amazing machines, and then don't get anything in return because they're a few seconds per race slower than the competition, but they keep pushing. And even the worst cars, the ones that everyone laughs at, like Williams last year, is LIGHT YEARS ahead of any other race car, and would literally wipe the floor with the best race cars from other series and would make race cars from any other series look like toys. Example, slowest qualifying time in F1 on COTA last year was some 13 seconds faster than P1 qualifying in Indy on COTA the same year. That's an ENORMOUS gap in performance. We're talking 20 years of development apart. It's the same as the comparison between F1 and F2, where certain people claim that F2 is a better racing series because there's sometimes closer racing and more risky overtakes or moves. Well, that's because the differences in driver quality are bigger in F2, cars are more different, and because cars are going at a slower pace, so it's easier to do crazy things, and it's less risky as well. It's easier to do crazy moves when your car pulls 3G in a corner, than when it pulls 6.5G and the tiniest mistake means you're out of a race. And it's easier to do it when you're aware that crashing will cost your team 100k, than knowing that crashing will cost your team 10 million. Point being, Indy is fine, but it's definitely nowhere near F1 as a racing series, even with all the things they do to keep their championships artificially closer and not allowing massive point gaps between drivers. Oval racing is also fine, but when you grow up not watching it, and you grow up watching rally, F1, GT cars, superbikes, etc. then watching cars go in circles is far less impressive and exciting, even though we know there's far more to it than cars just going in circles. But we also know there's less to it than there is to road racing. Oval racing just has a few elements out of many more that other types of racing have. It's a very simple concept taken to a high level, as opposed to a more complex concept taken to a high level.
@@derbigpr500 I can tell that you are racing fan. There are positives and negatives in every sport. Probably the greatest negative to Indycar is the broadcast. Like Nascar, the Indycar broadcast is built ramming ads down are throat and thinking that fans won't be annoyed be it. I hate it. Before Chase Carey took over, I would download the F1 races from shady websites instead of watching them on America's NBC which had commercial breaks. I've watched a ton of F1. I've been to the Austria GP, Chinese GP and 2 COTA GP's. Believe me I've spent thousands to go to those races. I like both series equally. Each sport has good things and bad things. To automatically believe that F1 is better than Indycar doesn't register with me though. Indycar has a lot of good things going for it. The tracks are a lot different. A lot of them are narrow courses like F1's Japan and Brazil tracks. The racing is grittier. The cars can survive a crash, get restarted and get back in it. If you go to an Indycar race, you get a lot more access to the racing for a lot cheaper. Does F1 have the most talented drivers? probably. But there is only 20 of them. But some one like Scott Dixon who won 5 championships in Indycar is more of driver's drivers to me because he did it in a spec series.
This video just kind of reminds me that Rahal was driving dangerously all race long, which makes it a bit rich how much he complained about the netcode incident at the end...

Late in the comments here. you can still see that dispite this is a game. you can see how the race engineers and spoters of Lando that this is a proper race. you can feel the profesionalisim of his team behind him giving strategies. they have put alot of effort on the win and then bad sportsman ship came took out their hard work

to be honest he is not worth the time and energy to spend about talking we know that lando won the race in our hearts and won a lot of genuine fans hearts as well.
I do not condone what Pagenaud did and everyone is upset because of the lack of seriousness those actions exhibited but Lando needs to take some responsibility for the move he made which forced Rahal into Pagenaud and ended up putting him into the wall. If everyone is going to judge based on how serious the drivers should have taken the race then the move Lando made that ended up with Pagenaud in the wall would have never been done during the real Indy 500 and showed a lack of seriousness on Lando's part. If you think otherwise regarding that move then you don't know Indy. I also find it suspect that Lando's stream in this video was cut away and switched to the commercial broadcast before that critical moment when Lando made the move that ended up with Pagenaud in the wall. I'd like to see Lando's stream from that point all the way to the end.

Was a shame today, I was watching your twitch stream but it finally crashed on me. I watched the NBC feed later on RUclips and thought you had your second win. I've noticed a lot of pros complain about iRacing and the multiple "imperfections" with it. But this doesn't mean you cant just chalk it up to a stupid game used to troll your friends. Example, slowest qualifying time in F1 on COTA last year was some 13 seconds faster than P1 qualifying in Indy on COTA the same year. That's an ENORMOUS gap in performance. We're talking 20 years of development apart.
It's the same as the comparison between F1 and F2, where certain people claim that F2 is a better racing series because there's sometimes closer racing and more risky overtakes or moves. Well, that's because the differences in driver quality are bigger in F2, cars are more different, and because cars are going at a slower pace, so it's easier to do crazy things, and it's less risky as well. It's easier to do crazy moves when your car pulls 3G in a corner, than when it pulls 6.5G and the tiniest mistake means you're out of a race. And it's easier to do it when you're aware that crashing will cost your team 100k, than knowing that crashing will cost your team 10 million.
Point being, Indy is fine, but it's definitely nowhere near F1 as a racing series, even with all the things they do to keep their championships artificially closer and not allowing massive point gaps between drivers. Oval racing is also fine, but when you grow up not watching it, and you grow up watching rally, F1, GT cars, superbikes, etc. then watching cars go in circles is far less impressive and exciting, even though we know there's far more to it than cars just going in circles. But we also know there's less to it than there is to road racing. Oval racing just has a few elements out of many more that other types of racing have. It's a very simple concept taken to a high level, as opposed to a more complex concept taken to a high level.
@@derbigpr500 I can tell that you are racing fan. There are positives and negatives in every sport. Probably the greatest negative to Indycar is the broadcast. Like Nascar, the Indycar broadcast is built ramming ads down are throat and thinking that fans won't be annoyed be it. I hate it. Before Chase Carey took over, I would download the F1 races from shady websites instead of watching them on America's NBC which had commercial breaks. I've watched a ton of F1. I've been to the Austria GP, Chinese GP and 2 COTA GP's. Believe me I've spent thousands to go to those races. I like both series equally. Each sport has good things and bad things. To automatically believe that F1 is better than Indycar doesn't register with me though. Indycar has a lot of good things going for it. The tracks are a lot different. A lot of them are narrow courses like F1's Japan and Brazil tracks. The racing is grittier. The cars can survive a crash, get restarted and get back in it. If you go to an Indycar race, you get a lot more access to the racing for a lot cheaper. Does F1 have the most talented drivers? probably. But there is only 20 of them. But some one like Scott Dixon who won 5 championships in Indycar is more of driver's drivers to me because he did it in a spec series.

Late in the comments here. you can still see that dispite this is a game. you can see how the race engineers and spoters of Lando that this is a proper race. you can feel the profesionalisim of his team behind him giving strategies. they have put alot of effort on the win and then bad sportsman ship came took out their hard work
but man... Jarvis did a really great job on supporting you every race since your first indycar E race...

Finally watched the controversial "push" by Lando. That definitely would have worked if it weren't for that netcode.
I do not condone what Pagenaud did and everyone is upset because of the lack of seriousness those actions exhibited but Lando needs to take some responsibility for the move he made which forced Rahal into Pagenaud and ended up putting him into the wall. If everyone is going to judge based on how serious the drivers should have taken the race then the move Lando made that ended up with Pagenaud in the wall would have never been done during the real Indy 500 and showed a lack of seriousness on Lando's part. If you think otherwise regarding that move then you don't know Indy. I also find it suspect that Lando's stream in this video was cut away and switched to the commercial broadcast before that critical moment when Lando made the move that ended up with Pagenaud in the wall. I'd like to see Lando's stream from that point all the way to the end.

Was a shame today, I was watching your twitch stream but it finally crashed on me. I watched the NBC feed later on RUclips and thought you had your second win. Simon flat out wrecked you and that just amazes me as I have been iRacing a long time and guys like that don’t last long, they either quit iRacing because their safety rating keeps them a rookie or they quit because no one in iRacing would put up with the crap I see so many real driver have been doing in iRacing. I've noticed a lot of pros complain about iRacing and the multiple "imperfections" with it. But this doesn't mean you cant just chalk it up to a stupid game used to troll your friends.
