I don't think Alex is Michael's equal. Michael outdoes him at every opportunity later on. Alex got put into Sona because Michael tricked him, Michael got put in because he took the rap for Sara killing Bill Kim. I think Michael was just surprised Alex was quickly able to figure out parts of his plan and piece things together. But then again Mahone did say Oscar Shales was also very smart, so he'd had experience tracking a very clever individual before.

Mahone was the real deal but too dependent on his drugs. He was almost as smart as Michael but can kill without hesitating. Michael is very smart but always avoided killing anyone, even saving bad guys sometimes.
He was dependent because he was stuck within the company and there was no way out, deep down he didn’t want to kill and the drugs were his coping mechanism his only saving grace especially after making his wife and child leave.

@@gh0510 The Warehouse that Michael rented before entering Prison was a fake and a diversion to drive the cops away whereas in reality the tools and clothes they needed where stashed in the grave underground. Yes just like you said he accessed the records and found out that E.Chance Woods was already dead so no need to go to his home and look for the convicts there

But thats just an easy mistake Michael could've prevented coz if Mahone got there 5-10 mins earlier n waited for them they would've all been caught. So Mike shouldv either planted a fake headstone with a fake name n tattooed that. Or just tattooed RIPE which should be enough for him to remember which graveyard he needs to go to.
@@gh0510 - You can't really got to a (legit) cemetery with your headstone in your pocket, and just "plant" it there yourself, and expect it to still be there years later. You have to buy a burial spot, pay some maintenance fees, installation fees for the headstone, etc etc In total, for a good spot in a nice cemetery like that, it can add up to a few thousand bucks. Even more if you want a cool mausoleum spot. It costs even more if it's a private cemetery, in a urban area.

I'm just wondering how Alex could make sense of the Ripe Chance Woods tattoo. Nothing indicated that it was meant to be read as RIP E. Chance Woods. My only guess is thinking about wether it is a name or not. But then you still wouldn't know that Ripe stands for RIP E. Maybe it's just because it's late and I've been working the entire day, but I don't think anyone would crack that in the matter of seconds that Mahone did. Even if he's very intelligent. Because that riddle is so far fetched for someone with no reference point, that it's not even really about intelligence anymore but rather mad creativity.
