Some movies are beyond language. Movie is a visual medium. Good movies should convey messages crossing boundaries. 96 did that exactly. There was a movie in Hindi, Tumbaad. It did the same thing. I feel for the past few years Indian movie makers have got their act together.

96(tamil film)-after veer zara,and reading "i too had a love story" by ravinder singh,this film just touched my soul.A simple,plain story of unconditional love.Both lead actors are in same clothes in entire film but all u see and feel is emotions,pure emotions.All those who had a school crush will relate and go back to those memories watching it.The pain of parting shown in a simple gear changing scene(last 15mins) will get any tough person in tears.Trisha krishnan spoke with her eyes,smile and constantly reminded me of Sridevi and vijay sethupathi proved that you don't need good looks or 6 packs to give a soulful performance. Pure acting and what an amazing direction-masterpiece !! 1st time after watching a film I got curious to find out about the magician behind it-written and directed by C Prem Kumar. He just created a romantic magic even in the partying of two people.No hugs,no kisses,not even one indecent dialogue or physical closeness shown,and yet when you finish the film you feel as if something just pierced your heart too,you wish they make a sequel and show the end they way Trisha described to one of his students.There is no specific patch which is amazing,as when we see magic the start the climax and the end everything is mesmerizing,and 96 is one such piece The decency of lead actor shown and the small small gestures he makes (right from carrying her bag,opening car doors,waiting at the hotel,waiting to get the phone to see janki's daughter's pic,being nervous yet happy and not able to have an eye contact,not even sitting close to her and flinching when her hand accidentally touches his while walking and then moving a bit far...I can just go on and on) makes his character very strong and as audience you start respecting him with each passing scene. 96 is Mughal-e azam of 2018.It is a new milestone created in romantic films. A film like this can't be rated,its beyond any ratings or any awards. Songs composed Govind Vasantha and written by Karthik Netha, Uma Devi and Vibin Ram have acted as a catalyst in making the audience reach the world of Ram and Janki,and feel every emotion they play .Songs play the most crucial part in the film.Perfectly written lyrics as per each situation(english subtitles) Ending-Last 30mins where as a audience you wish that "kash iss raat ki subaah kabhie na ho" .We wish some magic happens ( even if it needs to kill her husband😜) ,but the director kept a realistic end.You will needs lots of tissues post film too!! ps-do keep tissues aside as this film will make all your old school memories up on surface and make u cry either out of happiness or for remembering some old times.
That's the main problem i think..there may be problems for such sources in one or any other way...sometimes we have to pay for watching or sometimes unstable..but i think some films are there in utube with english subtitles

It's not a movie, it's a journey. The scene where Jaanu told the story how they became couple to Ram's student and then the song kaadhalee kaadhalee. At that moment break something inside me. Masterpiece..
Thank you. I really wanted to say the same thing. I felt the same when that happened. I really liked the way Jaanu explained and then looked at ram and both were crying, including one of his students..Aaagh, cant get over that scene.
that last scene when Ram was packing Janu's leftover cloths.....oh god! I just wanted to cry at that moment...but I was not able to....best ending of a movie I ever watched.

That scene when Janu visualises her heart's yearning dream "the roposal scene" to the students of Ram I just started crying aloud and that song kathale kathale took my breath away.. Out of the blue I stumbled upon 96 on IMDB. For me the trailer was like OK. But after the movie at 4am in the morning I was like wow what is this feeling. Just like you, I did not cry or laugh, but something else. And that feeling just did not leave me for the next four days. Had to watch the second half before I went to sleep everyday. Kind of reminded me of the movie BEFORE SUNSET. Small suttle things like "Please mind the gap between" Or when he was just standing there at the car waiting for her at the hotel. Or when he was eager to look at her daughter's picture yet he waits till she hands him the phone. Or in her proposal story, They never say I LOVE U just Janu. Kept forcing all my friends and family to watch it, even though none of them speak TAMIL. It's being remade into other languages, they should have just dubbed it, instead.

This movie is a master piece .... I myself passed 10th in 94 and class 12 in 1996. What a period. We had a reunion in 2017 in our school premise , every one come from diff places . And a new love story started between old friends. Unexpected . Made it worse in our friend circle. But this movie has shown us what the true love is. I wish i will become director and remade this movie in hindi. But you cannot bring the tamil culture and feeling in hindi. 2 imp parts of this movie.
There can never be sequel because it’s like that novel type …there is a reason why we should never ask for sequel and director confirmed that no sequel in future..u can never recreate the emotions back as raw as it was or it’s there … few chapter meant to be so because these 2 were left hanging in the past and one moved on with her life as a responsibility but other stayed hurt but with the reunion both got a closure he misunderstood her that got cleared and she got answer that he had never disappeared from her life and try to reach her but destiny couldn’t unite them … ram will move on because she added him in matrimony site that indicates he will move on and for her sake he will marry because he always fulfill her wishes that’s told in silent way ..we need to understand…few stories are left unsatisfied that’s the beauty

Yesterday I watched this movie and I came here as I wanted to know how others feel about this movie. Because I felt something different. I have seen various movies on romance, affection, care, love and separation. But this was a beautiful combination of all three, defined so purely. Ram and Jaanu both are characters in a movie but during movie time I felt them in real, I felt like they are telling their story to me. That's the main problem i think..there may be problems for such sources in one or any other way...sometimes we have to pay for watching or sometimes unstable..but i think some films are there in utube with english subtitles

Out of the blue I stumbled upon 96 on IMDB. For me the trailer was like OK.
But after the movie at 4am in the morning I was like wow what is this feeling.

I did not cry or laugh, but something else. And that feeling just did not leave me for the next four days. Had to watch the second half before I went to sleep everyday.
Kind of reminded me of the movie BEFORE SUNSET.

I watched it once and have no guts to watch it again though i wanted to watch it. I couldn't control my tears while watching the movie. Ultimate love story one can ever get to watch in any movie. I myself passed 10th in 94 and class 12 in 1996. What a period.
We had a reunion in 2017 in our school premise , every one come from diff places . And a new love story started between old friends. Unexpected . Made it worse in our friend circle.
But this movie has shown us what the true love is.
I wish i will become director and remade this movie in hindi. But you cannot bring the tamil culture and feeling in hindi. 2 imp parts of this movie.
There can never be sequel because it’s like that novel type …there is a reason why we should never ask for sequel and director confirmed that no sequel in future..u can never recreate the emotions back as raw as it was or it’s there … few chapter meant to be so because these 2 were left hanging in the past and one moved on with her life as a responsibility but other stayed hurt but with the reunion both got a closure he misunderstood her that got cleared and she got answer that he had never disappeared from her life and try to reach her but destiny couldn’t unite them … ram will move on because she added him in matrimony site that indicates he will move on and for her sake he will marry because he always fulfill her wishes that’s told in silent way ..we need to understand…few stories are left unsatisfied that’s the beauty

Yesterday I watched this movie and I came here as I wanted to know how others feel about this movie.
Because I felt something different.
I have seen various movies on romance, affection, care, love and separation.
But this was a beautiful combination of all three, defined so purely.
Ram and Jaanu both are characters in a movie but during movie time I felt them in real, I felt like they are telling their story to me.
