Perhaps a "Finish it, Fix it, Frog it February" would be a good idea for those WIPs that you really want to finish or that only have a tiny bit left to do. During the month of February, no new cast ons; you only work on WIPS.
Another great episode, with giggles and inspiration. I wondered, do you think you'd be more motivated to finish the Argyle jumper if you changed your perspective on the project? Think of it as putting Mark as a priority and not the WIP itself as a priority. If you look again at your list, you may then find that Mark and your niece & nephews projects will rise up the to-do list. Prioritisation and procrastination can be difficult hurdles, but if you begin to think of the joy you'll be gifting you may gain enough mental vavavoooom to get those projects finished. A finished toft animal is very nice when it's sitting on a shelf, but it wont say, "Thank you! I love it. I love you."
I love watching other people go through their stash and tidy up!! Marks vest looks like a mega piece of work, I completely feel that dread to work on it with you. But think of how proud and happy you'll be when it's done! 🤩
So happy to see Marks jumper on the list!! I hope it will get finished this year. I always want to start 1 project but then others are also fun to start.... so I will join you in the SummerMAL. Love the weekendvideos, I don't mind that they are less structured. Have fun on the secret crafty mission!
I don’t have more than three WIPs at a time, but we moved house (clear across the country) in the past year and I used my yarn as cushioning for delicate items and to top off boxes. Because we were in temporary housing for most of that year, the boxes stayed packed. It was so much fun to open boxes and get surprised by the yarn in them and then to sort and organize it all.
Apologies for the delay in commenting… am rewatching to get inspiration for my own summer plans. I also love fall and winter and the coziness that comes as the days get shorter. Summer here in the mountains of Colorado is so short that I love it also it just does not last quite long enough. I love that you are tidying your stash. You feel so accomplished after it’s all done. So nice to see your project list. I have a few patterns together with yarn ready to go so I will just make a list just like Martyn. It’ll get done 😊
Tidying always look great when you put things into bags! For your Toft patches, you could do with inserts similar to those for trading cards - You could also put a photo of the FO next to the patch! We’re with you on the bowls! So much easier for food!!! Looking forward to making some FOs over the Summer!!! Great idea!
I am glad you are frogging it. You will be happier I think. Thanks for showing the conservationist club. Reminded me to get out my monkey and finish. I have made the quagga. Really cute. Looking forward to the Morag video
LOVED this video! Thank you so much. I am not alone on how are things get sorted!!! Or think about things… Your video was so wonderful. Thank you. Best of luck! Jasmine
You sure did a great job at tiding up Saturday, deserved your beer !!! I love to see your mess, it makes me laugh so so much. Having a list of wips to finish would stress me out so much it would take away all my joy of knitting, that is why I am more of a bigamus knitter, one pair of socks to go and one big project, this is my maximum. I admire your way of starting things and just leaving them for later, I could not easily do that, but I love to see you try to organize your projects. I had left a fall sweater on the side to make all the Christmas gifts and got back to it in spring,. I had totally forgotten the pattern and the construction, had to take a bit of time to get familiarised with it again, finally finished it just before a big heat wave, so I will wear it next fall, but I certainly prefer to knit something from start to finish, it seems so much more efficient for me. I am crossing my fingers Mark's sweater will be finished some day, at least he doesn't seem to change weight at all, which is good for you...
Start the Herbivore with the fresh yarn. When you get to the end, if you need more yarn , knit the new Herbivore while ripping out the old Herbivore. West designs always have leftover yarn and you may not need to use it. While the finished shawl is laying out in its glory, ripping the old one won’t be so unhappy.
That pad was designed for you. A person who loves tick the box lists. Yes, as much as we'd all like to see Mark's jumper go to the top of the list, realistically it is unlikely to get finished by September. As you say, it is not a summer friendly knit. Better to give it a good chunk of time and priority after the next October MKAL when the weather permits a good sit in. Better to make the finishing of the 2nd last year's MKAL the priority knitting project. Get it done between crochet projects that provide for the need for a quick finish in doing an arm, a leg or a head. Looking forward to seeing the Morag project come together.
Marks jumper…lol makes me smile every time. I’m a wip girl; just dusted off twists n turns and started clue 3. Every clue has dreaded things in it (roly poly traveling twisted cable strip) (garter stitch purl flat short rows) (cast on cast off chevrons)…I just want the silly thing after all the drama and time outs lol. Can I start a new thing yet? 😂 Nice list, we’ll give u a bit of grief over it, just a bit of fun tho.
I am definitely a late spring/summer girl! I start getting depressed in August when it becomes clear that the days are getting shorter. My SAD gets particularly bad in late October-November. I am already worried that MKAL 2024 is going to be here in the blink of an eye. The MKAL is the only thing that keeps me sane, but I am not ready for it to come yet!
Happy Monday mark and martyn...if I didn't know better I would have thought someone recorded my husband and I except it's my husband's tools that have kind of taken over our house...I keep trying to tidy and find a home where their easily accessible but out of sight and he can't find his stuuf😂😂😂

Hi Martyn, I had forgotten all about big Morag! She will be in pride of place showing off your crafting prowess. Maybe work on Mark's jumper on your none working Mondays. The flat will be quiet, stick a podcast or two on and you can listen whilst you knit? I found a blanket I started on at the end of lockdown, ( We locked down for just over 18 months, because of my lungs and blood fun and games). I'd made a pink and white one and almost finished the blue and grey one. Literally about ten rows and the border. Will get it done and into the MAL. I am here for a Morag project video! #teammorag Monogamous knitter here: I have A LOT of sock yarn in my stash. I know I can knit other things with it than socks... but I recently found a whole lot of free sock patterns that I want to give a try. So, this summer holiday will be a "Socks week holiday" :-).
So much fun. I whooped to see Mark's jumper on the list. You've inspired me to make my own list for the summer - 3 months gives a good amount of time to swap between a few different projects and get them done xxx look forward to seeing your progress
I have 4 things on my list to finish in the summer….but it’s too warm for shawl knitting, my winter lights shawl might have to take a back seat….thank you for the honest real videos. And don’t worry about the yarn, mine is a lot worse.
I have serious Toft envey! It's greener than the green green grass of home !😅 I love a good sort out but I'm tea total ! I've been watching all your Christmas videos and although it's very hot here today I feel very christmasy. Have you watched click and collect ? It's brilliant. Tip, watch it to the very end past the credits. Thank you very much for all your videos. Sian from Wrexham 😊
My "tidying up" is SO much more than yours! I did audibly respond "Yes!" When you asked if anyone wanted to come help. 😂 it's just across the big pond! 😅 I'm currently working a test knit, due by July 31. There's 7 or 8 WIPs in my collection. I'll finish someday. Where's Mark's jumper?
What a delightful episode Martyn! Enjoyed it throughly! I do love your list…but please please do the Westknits Secret Socks! It’s SO fun to make something at the same time and share our progress…plus I love your progress videos 😉. Like your idea of a photo album of patches but you could also frame them after you’ve finished the project and hang it on the wall (okay…run that one by Mark first 🤣) I’m off to finish a pair of socks and work on some knitted cotton dish rags (for some Christmas gifts and myself). I can usually work on them in the heat. Also…..you need BIGGER storage boxes!! 😂
Love this episode , ❤ You’ve got me onto Toft crochet, I’ve just received my order of the frog bag, he’s got the most amazing BIG eyes. 🐸, I’ve also got the small Zebra in my stash and just finished Winston the Aardvark .
Hello Martyn! Lovely video. When I get any project related items - socks, Toft, WestKnits - I place them into a project bag or zip bag with a label or notes or the pattern. That way when I open the project everything is there. Let’s complete Mark’s jumper.
You've made me very happy Martyn - Morag is going to make an appearance!!! Ive been waiting for you to make her ever since you bought her!!! Love the idea of a " finish off" list! So pleased Mark's jumper is on it!! Take care.
Really enjoyed this format of making along with you. Im im a finish off the long standing wip mood at the moment, the pile of bags is getting embarrassing 😅
I can't help but think how marvelous it is that Mark remains pretty much the same size. Such beautiful work, fabulous yarn, gorgeous design - thank goodness he hasn't become too big or too small to wear it. I'm personally hoping to see him in it by Christmas. Oh all the animals go so fast. I'm impressed. It's great that you're using some of the animals to raise funds for charity - you chose a good one too. Perhaps that list is pretty doable! You two make such a great couple - all these years and you seem to balance one another so well. Have a great week, we're off to Palm Springs for an appt. It will be over 41C! Ugh. Happy Monday.
I very much prefer this video over the "sit down in front of the camera" ones. RUclips is oversaturated with channels who focus on that sort of content and to be quite honest, I clicked "follow" on this channel (quite a few years ago) because you were doing these other formats, like project vlogs etc. so I would honestly be very happy if the majority of your future videos are like this one here. If you enjoyed making it, please just keep doing so :-)
I'm SO with you!! I hate summer!! Especially when it's 105°-110°F +/- here in central California. I decided I'm going to make a lot of one skein wonders.....hats, cowls, bandanas.... hopefully..🤷🏻♀️ The tiger is adorable, seaming is my nemesis... I try not to make anything that needs to be put together. 😂🤣 I too need to finish my WKMKAL, decided I'm not going to do this year's. But.....I love "herbivore" so much, I might do that instead. You're on the homestretch on Mark's vest, you can do it!!!! I wish I could participate in the KAL/CAL, I don't have/want Instagram.
Feel feee to email me knit365@icloud.com if you’d like to still join in on the KAL/CAL, not a problem if you don’t have Instagram. I’ll reconfirm all the details next week after the pride raffle is finished.
Your too-good-to-throw-out Advent boxes could be used for gift boxes. I’d love to come tidy your wool, but I’m in Philadelphia, and you’d probably be done by the time I got there!
Love your vids Martyn I was just thing about Marks jumper when you were doing your list When ( if) it ever getting finished will Mark ever be allowed to actually wear it I reckon it needs to be framed now 😂😂😂
H Martin, what temperature do you have the oven on to dehydrate your fruit please.PLEASE put Mark’s jumper to the top of the list you could wrap it up for Christmas 🎄 ❤xx
Love marks vestjumper resurfacing. My summerlist has a sweater for my 5 year old, a cardigan for me, 2 sweaters for me, 9 pairs of socks for my husband, 4 pairs of aocks for me, 10 for the 5 year old, 3 knitted animals (by zijmaakthet). N if all of that gets done i have 2 more cardigans and a sweater for me..
If you have any leftover yarn, no matter how small im making amigurumi animals for llys nini and pdsa. Im disabled and mostly housebound, and because I'm not able to work finances are very limited. Also if u need ends sewing in or something finishing I can knit and crochet if it helps xxx
Could not help but wonder if that mystery test knit you have been working on is tied to the mystery sock a long with West Knits coming out in just a few days now. I just wonder?
Hi Martyn , why don’t you punch hole them and get an A5 folder and put them in that , meaning your toft patches , you haven’t got that much yarn lol 😂 xx 💋 ❤ hello Mark 💋 xx
oh i couldn't stand that mess, i especially can't tolerate bags all over lol. i get small totes, not the big ones, and put most in those aind now i've stacked them in a corner of the bedroom, and, just leave a couple of projects out at a time. otherwise i wouldn't work on anything , just too much chaos. We just had a week of hot humid almost 100 F, so no knitting much, thats when i close up the house, with some AC, and quilt instead . ( and work, i work FT too)
what an exciting summer it will be if even only half of the projects will be finished! me, a monogomous knitter, my stomach turns when I see all those projects, but the world would be a very boring thing if we were all the same. would it not be a good idea to make a shortlist of the projects you really want to finish? something else : about that snappy remark, it was 1 person who made that 1 remark and there were more then 50 positive remarks : what is the most important? let that 1 negative remark not bite you. if maybe 10 people would express their annoyances about a 'secret project' then maybe then it is something to take in account. but 99,9% of your audience except it as being part of your podcast. so forget about it! it is hot here in belgium, I hope for you it is not like that in Cardiff,
My cheeky husband asked if Mark’s jumper was going to be on the list. I told him that the yarn is not the best for summer knitting. 🧶 With apologies to Mark, I think we can excuse you for the hot summer days. 😉
@@knit365blog it’s my first toft purchase! I can crochet but never done a loop stitch and I’m anxious I will ruin it and it’s becoming “a thing” the longer I put it off the more I’m over thinking it but it’s for my daughters 30th birthday and there’s only so many time I can say to her “it will all get done” 🧶🧶🧶

Just bought my pride draw ticket. You make me smile Martyn your finishing off MAL involves lots of new project cast ons. 😂😂 Enjoy your few days off😊
Yikes, Martyn, that’s a lot of projects for the summer!!! Love it when you do a list…I will be watching!!
Wow thay is an optimistic summer project list! Looking forward to seeing hoq much you get done. Loved seeing Marks jumper again!
Hi Martyn, loving your plans for the summer. Good luck. ❤❤❤
The photo album is a great idea. You should also leave room next to each patch and include a picture of what you made.
Apologies for the delay in commenting… am rewatching to get inspiration for my own summer plans. I also love fall and winter and the coziness that comes as the days get shorter. Summer here in the mountains of Colorado is so short that I love it also it just does not last quite long enough.

We’re with you on the bowls! So much easier for food!!!

Love the slight chaos. Makes me think about when I’m rummaging and sorting. Sabre Tooth is so cute. Now to go sort my WIPs.
I love this MAL! I have so many projects to finish and this will be great motivation :)
I am glad you are frogging it. You will be happier I think. Thanks for showing the conservationist club. Reminded me to get out my monkey and finish. I have made the quagga. Really cute. Looking forward to the Morag video

You sure did a great job at tiding up Saturday, deserved your beer !!! I love to see your mess, it makes me laugh so so much. I think you should have a “WIP-along” for the summer - we could share our WIPs that we are really working on (and finishing…hopefully) 😂😊
List-spiration! 😍 Good luck 🤞 Calon yarns just did a video of ‘live’ unbagging of long lost wips, great fun!
Tip for spinning roving - draft it out a bit before you spin and it will be thinner and more even.
Good idea getting the list together, but Ravelry keeps ruining my plans by showing me shiny new things I want to make.
My library will take four life times to finish now and I haven't been on Ravelry since Sunday.
Big final push for the pride fundraiser. Wouldn't it be amazing to get he £5000!
Have fun on your time off. Oh bowl food is just so much better, unless sat at the table, then it's plates!

I am here for a Morag project video! #teammorag
Monogamous knitter here: I have A LOT of sock yarn in my stash.

Fun vlog Martyn. Now if only I tidy my crafting room.😢
i like the idea of making a blanket of squares with one patch on each square, so you can enjoy them all the time
My "tidying up" is SO much more than yours! I did audibly respond "Yes!" When you asked if anyone wanted to come help. 😂 it's just across the big pond! 😅
I'm currently working a test knit, due by July 31. I've got fiber on deck for the Olive knits sweater, Spilling the Tea. It's 4th of July weekend. Also, the Casapinka MKAL: a Road Trip with Sharon. That cast on is July 12.
There's 7 or 8 WIPs in my collection. I'll finish someday.
Where's Mark's jumper?

All of your videos are fun!!! The list looks doable! My summer knitting will be socks for Summer Sock Camp with the Crazy Lady!!
Oh my giddy aunt - I loved this and loved seeing the mess you made. 🙈Thanks so much guys. 🧶🧶
Amen, I get so happy when he hit the summer solstice and then days get shorter...yeah give me dark at 4pm!!! And fall and winter, amen!
Love this episode , ❤
You’ve got me onto Toft crochet, I’ve just received my order of the frog bag, he’s got the most amazing BIG eyes. 🐸, I’ve also got the small Zebra in my stash and just finished Winston the Aardvark .

It was fun “spending the weekend with you” 🙂💕
I get stressed by just watching all those projects. 😂
I was up to 19 at one point I think 🙈
Oh how I love a good list… checking off is soooo satisfying ❤ looking forward to the Moorage video.
Its not a mess its a hobby....how you define it makes it so 💕😊
I'm SO with you!! I hate summer!! Especially when it's 105°-110°F +/- here in central California.

I agree. Autumn is the BEST!
Your too-good-to-throw-out Advent boxes could be used for gift boxes.
I’d love to come tidy your wool, but I’m in Philadelphia, and you’d probably be done by the time I got there!
I keep all my patches and patterns in A5 folders have 4 do far,
Thank you for inspiring me to tidy up and organize my wooly mess lol
I was just typing suggesting a photo album when you suggested it yourself!!!
Love your vids Martyn I was just thing about Marks jumper when you were doing your list
When ( if) it ever getting finished will Mark ever be allowed to actually wear it
I reckon it needs to be framed now 😂😂😂
If I had my way the front would be put in a frame on the wall as a piece of woolly art! Haha
You're always fun, I spend my lunch with you when you post!
H Martin, what temperature do you have the oven on to dehydrate your fruit please.PLEASE put Mark’s jumper to the top of the list you could wrap it up for Christmas 🎄 ❤xx
Mark says 80-100 celsius, turn them every 1.5 hours for about 4-5hrs oven dependant.
@@knit365blog thanks Martin and Mark, I’ll have a go in the autumn. ❤️x
Also if u need ends sewing in or something finishing I can knit
and crochet if it helps xxx
You’re making a boyfriend jumper!! :O
Martyn you can have both today cause I said so as it's my birthday and have been gifted a can of stella from y neighbour and her partner.
Did you frog the shawl or ignore the errors? Happy knitting
Covered towards the end of the video… 🤔
And I thought I have a lot of wool 😎😎😎😁😜
Great video. Just wondering if Marc knits/crochets?
Could not help but wonder if that mystery test knit you have been working on is tied to the mystery sock a long with West Knits coming out in just a few days now. I just wonder?
Who knows… 😝
Hi Martyn , why don’t you punch hole them and get an A5 folder and put them in that , meaning your toft patches , you haven’t got that much yarn lol 😂 xx 💋 ❤ hello Mark 💋 xx
Have just done my list 10 items
What about mark's jumper 😢😢
It makes an appearance in the video!
I'm glad to see that it will get done soon
You can’t detash your Toft yarn because you need it for the patches that you haven’t finished.
oh i couldn't stand that mess, i especially can't tolerate bags all over lol. i get small totes, not the big ones, and put most in those aind now i've stacked them in a corner of the bedroom, and, just leave a couple of projects out at a time. otherwise i wouldn't work on anything , just too much chaos. We just had a week of hot humid almost 100 F, so no knitting much, thats when i close up the house, with some AC, and quilt instead . ( and work, i work FT too)
Mark - what temperature do you do your oven dehydrating citris please? I'm in for the MAL - have 9 pairs of socks to knit on my list
Mark says 80-100 celsius, turn them every 1.5 hours for about 4-5hrs oven dependant!
what an exciting summer it will be if even only half of the projects will be finished! me, a monogomous knitter, my stomach turns when I see all those projects, but the world would be a very boring thing if we were all the same. would it not be a good idea to make a shortlist of the projects you really want to finish? something else : about that snappy remark, it was 1 person who made that 1 remark and there were more then 50 positive remarks : what is the most important? let that 1 negative remark not bite you. if maybe 10 people would express their annoyances about a 'secret project' then maybe then it is something to take in account. but 99,9% of your audience except it as being part of your podcast. so forget about it!
it is hot here in belgium, I hope for you it is not like that in Cardiff,
It’s an individual
You missed off the Toft octopus and the summer competition
My cheeky husband asked if Mark’s jumper was going to be on the list. I told him that the yarn is not the best for summer knitting. 🧶 With apologies to Mark, I think we can excuse you for the hot summer days. 😉
I just bought a morag at wonder wool!!! Please help!!!!!!!
I have a standard Morag and she’s one of my favourite ever makes! Have you made any others? Have you even done loop stitch? I’m here to help!
Can Mark come and cook for me? Yummy looking.
I never really noticed before that your lift handed
