Yup! A better option is to sautee onions carrots and tomatoes till paste like then add meat then add rouco. I promise no sugar best taste. Soy sauce etc is also sugar and don't ask about the sodium/msg content in those.
I'll definetly be trying this. I often have problems caramalising the sugar for brown stews either burn it or undercook it. Sometimes when I misjudged the amount of caramel for the amount of pork and the pork isn't dark enough I've added dark soy at that point. Didn't occur to me to start marinading with dark soy nor did it occur to me to also add oyster sauce. So looking forward to seeing how this comes out
This video should be title . If you don't know how long to brown sugar to make a good stew chicken. Try this. I am sure it would taste good but it is not trinidad stew chicken alternative. A stew is any meat, poultry or seafood in a sauce

Not really, there will be “sugars” in the other elements. Here’s the ingredients for panda oyster sauce. You’ll clearly see sugar... additionally, the extra salt and MSG might make this version less “healthy” to the standard stew recipe. INGREDIENTS:Water, sugar, oyster extract (oysters, water, salt), salt, modified corn starch, monosodium glutamate, wheat flour, caramel color.
@@marciaosuno8919 you do get that Diabetics respond to any form of sugar? Their problem is not only insulin response to sugar but also difficulty metabolizing sugar.
Dead Food Nation, I find it irresponsible that you think this is a good alternative to “sugar” based soy. There is sugar in the oyster sauce and depending on the quantity of sauce used can be competitive to simply using sugar. While I understand this is an attempt at an alternative recipe, it’s not factual as a “sugar” based stew replacement.
