    I get as a distributor saying this is a two-person job but I had no problem doing this solo and you can too if you’re smart.
    I used clothesline thickness rope to bring it up, reflectors and all, to the roof so I wasn’t climbing with it. It’s not that heavy. I got it all the way on the pole and loosely secured before I raised it to the desired height, soft-locked at the top and then went about aiming and leveling. Only after everything was locked down and level did I put the cartridge in.
    When all was said and done I had a nice gain increase over my DAT-790 I put up a year and a half ago. I’m able to pull in stations from Chicago that are 72 miles away and 2Edge. With a rotor and this antenna I get my pick of Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago stations. So did the DAT-790 but not as reliably.

      This is how I’ll be installing mine too. Tip the pole down, and add this to the pole along with my 3020.

    Great antenna! I purchased it to replace Antennas Direct top of the line model. The Televes picked up more stations and had much better signal levels. I used the included amplifier, but I also needed to supply 7 TVs. I ran the output of the amplifier into another 8 way splitter/amplifier and it worked fine.
    My comment to this video is at 1:38 it talks about the square on the bolt being drawn into the aluminum. If you line up the bolt so two sides are parallel to the aluminum arms, it will draw in much easier. Having it crooked requires it to dig into the internal aluminum insert and that takes more force to do so. I'd also be worried on cracking that internal aluminum insert.

    I just got done assembly this antenna its a beast. Built very solid definitely not junk. My only complaint is that the directions suck. Only photo illustrations

    Your missing something. What end do you point at the transmitter? It says nowhere on the box nor on the single sheet part list nor in any of these youtube videos. I could assume that the reflector looking pieces are reflectors, and put them in the back... . But why would I want to assume anything after all that work? RF is strange and I just want to orient it as intended. I can try it backwards later. So which end is the front?

    I just finished assembling mine and it is not that hard to do. Just take your time.
    Observations:
    1. if any of the elements is bent, try not to bend it back since you will surely break it.
    2. It is very easy to mix the positions for the upper and lower booms since they have the same cross section. Make sure you count the number of elements. The upper boom is longer (more elements) than the lower one.
    3. Don't worry too much if one of the bolts does not go (bite) all the way in the aluminum beam. If you try too hard, you might break something.
    4. The upper and lower braces are exactly the same. The holes will not align at first. They will as you tighten the bolts.
    5. The Televes grey braces have a drain hole. Make sure it goes on the bottom. Do not overtighten the three screws.
    6. I am not sure what is the best (or correct) way to install the black plastic spacers for the mast adapters. The instructions show it one way but in the video is shown in the opposite way.
    Cheers!

    Good video. The instructions that come with the antenna are nearly incomprehensible, this video helps. Unfortunately some steps are skipped over or done in a different order, near the end. This video is still very helpful, though.

    How tall does the pole have to be the antenna is mounted to? I plan to use a second home made telescoping antenna pole inside one I already made with antenna clamps. I have an existing CM 3020 I am going to be using along with.

    • @SolidSignalNovi
      @SolidSignalNovi  3 года назад +1

      It really depends on your situation. The antenna should be high enough to avoid most obstacles, that’s all.

      @XMguy 3 года назад

      @@SolidSignalNovi I have a crap to of woods and trees in front of my cm3020 that’s 15’ now above the ground. I can get nearly 75 miles. I ordered this antenna (from you guys on eBay) to try and get good signals on UHF. Can this mount to a small j pole that mounts to the side of a house? That would be easier than adding another section to my home made antenna pole for that my 3020 is on now.

      @@XMguy Using a J-mount would probably limit the amount of aiming you could do, unless the J-mount went above the roofline.

      @@SolidSignalNovi yes. It will be at the top of the roof line, on the eave.

    BUY 2 3ft. PIECES OF ALUMINUM TUBING 3/8''. Install them OVER 2 of the VHF ELEMENTS-- middle ones. THIS will enable the antenna to receive Ch.2-6!!!! TELEVES ADDED THEM, after complaints, to the antenna and gave it a DIFFERENT model no. BUT, you can effectively add that retroactively for same performance! OR, buy 4 at Lowe's and get better Ch. 2-6 reception!!!!

      This antenna is the Televes 148381, which already includes the Low VHF elements. The 148281 also has the Low VHF elements, but it is a smaller antenna.

    No need to amplify nothing.

    Mine came with no instructions whatsoever and the single page part sheet is using different labeling letters for the parts than are used in your video. Early in your video you show carriage bolts being used to secure parts that have round holes, not square holes as are standard for carriage bolts. I am hesitant to do that since other parts on the antenna that apparently use carriage bolts do have square holes... ie the the 2 S shaped support pieces. Further, I can't tell which carriage bolt you are using. There is more than one length. So far this antenna sucks. Not your fault, but it sucks. I suspect they let every Tom, Dick, and Harry on the planet reproduce it under their name for a fee, like "Home Gyms" and I picked a dud distributor manufacturer, who was in fact not Solid Signal... so maybe not relevant.

    • @SolidSignalNovi
      @SolidSignalNovi  Год назад

      Most likely you're looking at the newer version of the antenna that's slightly different from this one. RUclips won't let me link in comments but I have done an assembly video for that one too.

    Very poor explanation this video, it needs to be more explicit, you do not even explain how and where to install the amplifier that comes with the antenna. near the antenna or near the TV set

      It's odvious you don't know anything about the antenna.. the pre-amp is mounted inside the orange housing on the antenna and the power supply is inside the house 😉
