    I'm 6 months locked. I didn't condition my hair and my head was mad itchy. I added some leave in conditioner yesterday and the way the itching stopped immediately! Imma go back to following my old natural hair routine coz that's clearly what my hair likes.

      @cacherichey  9 месяцев назад +6

      Exactly! Thats what did. What ever I was doing with my loose natural hair I kept those same habits while loc’d and my locs are fine. My hair would have been ruined had I kept listening to all of these people telling me what not to do or what to do with MY LOCS 🤦🏾‍♀️

    I totally agree with you. I was told those same things not to put oil in my hair, but I have a very dry scalp and I have to oil my hair and I condition it maybe every two weeks. But as you said, everyone knows their hair what it takes for their hair.

      Yes, you definitely have to do what works for your hair. It’ll for sure tell you what it needs and can do without 😂

    I can always tell when ppl use conditioner on their locs bc it leaves an ashy white film that eventually gets worse and harder to remove over time.

    • @cacherichey
      @cacherichey  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thank God I never had that problem 😂

      Locs will get ashy if they aren't clarified. I think it's good to use a clarifying shampoo every so often, because it can get rid of the product buildup or the "film" of products that are just sitting on top of the locs.

    I agree, mines 3 months loc'd started off with two strand twists. Washed it from week 1 after installation. Some unraveled but nothing crazy. I have never had a retwist so you know the fro beneath is mad dense and I'm loving it.

    Great video. I was told to use oil on my scalp and I had never used oil on my scalp a day in my life even while being a loose natural, so the first time I started putting oil on my scalp, my scalp got so itchy. So I stopped using it. I was told to to use shampoo and conditioner on my locs, but my locs are super thick and I cannot squeeze those things out, so I stopped using them. I was told to use aloe vera juice on my hair daily, but my locs started getting loc rot after using it often.
    I stopped listening to everyone and I only rinse my scalp and locs with water OR if I feel my scalp got dirty from outside since I am in the garden a lot, I will blend and strain some limes and wash my scalp with it. I spray my locs with rose water twice weekly and have soft, shiny thick locs. I don't wrap my hair up at night unless I remember to do so and I keep it pushing. I am 20 months into my loc journey

      See, you cannot listen to everyone. I’m so glad you found what works for your locs. People mean well by sharing what you should do to take care of your skin/hair etc but forget that not everything works for everyone. 20 months? Congratulations ❤️

    I just keep doing what works for me, I deep condition and rinse well. I wash once a week to every other. I separate after each wash. Use my rose water and oil and keep it moving. I only go to my loctition when I’m just not wanting to retwist . Personally with my texture I can’t brush , I will have a hot mess of a nest. After a couple months of the loc gel, I just use water and oil for my retwists when I do them myself.

    i jus hit 4 months yesterday & took so much from this video :) i had a question tho, when it comes to locs when did you start seeing a lot of thickness? i can tell my hair is thickening up but when does “max thickness” come in if that makes sense ? 😭

      Congratulations babe ❤️ thank you for watching! So I was just talking about this, I’ve been loc’d for a little over a year now and I feel like I’ve seen 2 stages where they’ve gotten thicker. I say give it a full year, maybe a little longer and you’ll see some beautiful changes… it’s exciting 🥰

    Im mixed and my aunt started my locs. She was trying to convince me not to wash my hair for 3 months!! N I have an oily scalp so there was no way that was gonna happen. I waited about a week n half to wash my hair 😂

    I don’t brush my locs I didn’t care for how brushing made them I do condition my hair it’s about not using more than you need just use the conditioner on the new growth rinse out shampoo and conditioner very well don’t oil the hair every day just when it starts to get dry people wet and oil the hair too much ( every day) can be too much not allowing it to breathe 5yr loc’d

    I’m 10 months in and with my texture on top I knew waiting to wash after the 2nd retwist would be best. Now I’m comfortable washing them myself and go about 6-8 weeks between retwists and my hairs doing well. I brush when I think about it 😂

    • @cacherichey
      @cacherichey  9 месяцев назад

      😂 yes, I don’t brush as much either. Now for some reason my son’s locs need a lot of love and attention because his hair is thick and soak up all the moisture, water, you name it and I brush his once a week or every other.
