    • @Channel-About-Nothing

      It affectionately called the pisser. It lets you know the cooling system is working. If no water is coming out of it while riding you may have a serious problem.

  • @funkycoldmedina67
    @funkycoldmedina67 5 лет назад +1

    Van R- I just noticed that when I raise the trailer tongue up to about my neck level- a lot of liquid came out of the drain plugs- Nothing was coming out when raised up to about thigh or waist level. Now it makes me want to clean in the engine compartment everytime. If you have taken your deck off before can you shoot a video or explain how to do it? I know it is a T30 bit, and the first 2 screws have lock nuts and washers you have to be careful not to drop in the bay- but what about the remaining screws?

    • @Channel-About-Nothing
      @Channel-About-Nothing  4 года назад +1

      No water came out of the drain plugs. They were in as there was no water in the hull to drain. Water came out of the pump, exhaust and footwells.
      As for the deck, you are correct the first two have nuts (already lost one and bought several spares) and the rest just unscrew. All you would do is remove the drain plugs and spray everything down with salt away and rinse. Let it dry and spray the engine down with fluid film or whatever product you choose. I may do a video of removing the deck.

    Just got a GTX 170 and I live about 3-4 mins from the ramp. How long do you let the engine cool down for? Or do you use an infrared thermometer and look for a certain temp?

    • @Channel-About-Nothing
      @Channel-About-Nothing  3 года назад

      I am about the same distance from the ramp and I now clean the exterior and save the flushing for last. Not sure if that is long enough or not.

      @@Channel-About-Nothing that's kinda what I did, then used a Ryobi infrared. Temp was 114F so I figured it was safe. I didn't wash the engine bay because there was no sign of salt water - just some "factory dust"

    • @Channel-About-Nothing
      @Channel-About-Nothing  4 года назад

      The manual actually recommends it after being in salt water and it's safe to spray salt away just about anywhere you can spray water. I try to avoid spraying any electronics, fuse box, and so on.

    • @chefgarrin
      @chefgarrin Год назад

      It's a marine engine, they get wet. It's normal and perfectly allowed.... spray it down but not full force get around those engine mounts well and give everything a good protective spray after you drain the water out, leave seat off to dry the compartment.

  • @spiderbogus369
    @spiderbogus369 4 года назад +2

    I just bought a wake pro 230 and was Keen to get some salt away. I asked the dealer and they were hesitant due to the acrylic in the hull and couldn't tell me for sure if it would damage it or not overtime. Do you have an opinion on this ? I also looked up what salt away had been tested on and acrylic wasn't one.

    • @Channel-About-Nothing
      @Channel-About-Nothing  4 года назад +3

      If you are worried about the hull don't spray it, just use it to flush. I have no proof, but salt away seems to be so mild I am not at all worried about acrylic damage. I figure the salt is more damaging that the salt away could ever be and no detergent I know of removes salt effectively.

    • @Channel-About-Nothing
      @Channel-About-Nothing  2 года назад

      Depends. I usually did not need to, just spraying it with salt-away cleaned it nicely. Several variables will determine if you need to actually wash it, but if you are riding in saltwater and it's not super clean after a rinse wash it.

      I have done it in my older skis that I did not buy new. Leaving Salt Away in them can help loosen any build-up from salt from what I have read. I don't think it will harm anything and may help.
