I know what you are saying. I have been using the Zpacks Nero ( 10.8 oz ) which is great for here in Florida. Especially since most of the time it's warm to hot weather. Really hot weather I stay inside. . Last years cool snap I figured I finally needed a larger bag for cool weather camping. Especially since warm/bulky items are needed. Problem solved , 2nd bag is the Zpacks Arc Blast ( 20.1 oz ) and I can get my hammocks cold weather top and under quilts in it along with some warm clothing. Both bags I accessorized the way i wanted them since everything extra is a add on. The Arc Blast is only 9.3 oz ( Bag weight ) more then the Nero. That allowed me to keep the weight down. At 75 and a heart patient with weight restrictions those bags are really nice and overall weight counts.

@Senior Hiker 77 in my quest to shave weight. I am trying to decide on a lighter backpack. I did get an Osprey Atmos 65. But it comes in at around 4 lbs. But it is comfortable compared to the Gregory paragon that I had to return due it's very uncomfortable fit. So I am seriously considering the Zpacks arc haul. I figure I can take 2 lbs off. Baring in mid that comfort is important how do like the fit of the pack? I have also heard that the packs volume in liters is spread amongst all the pockets. Does this leave the main compartment lacking in space? I am trying to go lighter but some of my equipment is a little on the bulky side.
Well Mark, that's why I had to buy the arc blast and the arc haul one for summer and one for winter. I really like the atmos 65 but couldn't deal with the 4 lbs weight. Zpacks not for everyone so maybe try the 3f ul Aliexpress dyneema lightweight backpack it could be more cost effective until you get more data. Hope this helps. 👍
I'm 68. I just can't put enough food in those little packs to last 4 or 5 days. I use an osprey zenith 105L (I have the large one so it's slightly bigger). Even though I could be within the weight limit of that pack, I can barely fit my stuff into an Osprey Zenith 105. I don't see how I could push it all into a 55L pack.
How much weight do you carry. Those shoulder straps and hip belt are pretty flimsy looking. This is coming from an Osprey guy too. Don't get me wrong I want to cut weight as well. I did have a look at the Zpacks web site and found the same thing as you. There was a lot of accessories that needed to be added.
Yes Mark, everybody complains about those accessories but once I pull the trigger that the end about cost. My Arc Haul winter including everything is about 28~30 lbs. 😄
I use it for my wet tent to keep it outside my dry stuff inside my backpack. I think it is really for a bear canister, hope that helps. Ofcourse the single strap would work as well.

Excellent! If I were to buy a new pack, I'd likely go with that too. That OD color can't be beat. It looks milspec. @@SeniorHiker77 Are they modular? I was just wondering if you could get by with just buying the larger bag or having a friend stitch moly/ pals webbing to expand the extra space needed. I think that a top / tube loader could have an extension sewn. Then it could either be Velcro or laced on to the pack you have. Then you have the best of both worlds without so much cost of a whole new frame, etc. What do you think?
@@SeniorHiker77 I'd call ahead and ask them to watch your reviews. Then ask if they can give you a deal on one of the OD Green Arc Hauls at the Damascus meet. If you talk to the owner, it would be the right thing to give it to you free. If I owned the company, I would.

Any weight on my back is extra burden for me now😞 by the way I like your Hawaiian shirt though 😊
People don't realize what extra weight will do to you on a hike. ATB
I'm going to watch the video.
I'll come and see you often
Well I'm just a 66-year-old kid myself and ready to shed some weight (from both my pack and my bellly!) Curious... what size Blast did you get? S-M-L
I think I was large but would have to check my order to make sure.
I'm thinking to buy it.. I love hiking
You won't be disappointed
Oh man, I was about to ask for a hand me down.
Lol, don't blame you but sorry no hand me downs.👍
LoL that's a great review! Great reason to switch bags! 😎
Thanks Kriz.👍
Awesome review sir
Thanks for stopping by and making a comment.
Nice backpack
Thanks for stopping by and making a comment will check you channel out too.👌
What does the V strap do on the blast?
I use it for my wet tent to keep it outside my dry stuff inside my backpack. I think it is really for a bear canister, hope that helps. Ofcourse the single strap would work as well.
don't worry you look great!
Thanks Valerie.😋
I wanted to get the weight off of my back - that's why I started kayak camping.
That's one way. I thought about a pack mule. Lol
hi~my torsos is 20 inches, should I aim into S or M? And how long your torsos?
My torso approx 23" an I'm using a Medium but don't depend on me.
@@SeniorHiker77 Thanks
P.S. I have ordered a 3F UL Backpack...
Welcome back Friar.😎
Muito bom parabéns sucesso 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Is the Blast still holding up?
Yes I'm getting ready to change the arc haul out to the blast now that spring is here. I haven't even looked at backpacks after the zpacks.
@@SeniorHiker77 Thank you.
Nice 👍
Nice 👍, keep uploading, new friend here 💝💝💝
Nice one!
Thanks for your comment Chaprayer.😋
I have 5 different bags that together would not equal the cost of one Zpacks bag... I can't even afford an Osprey .... Oh the pain... lol.
Max, I feel you man. I've wanted a zpacks bag for a long time. I guess I could have waited to buy one when I get old. Ooops that's now. 😋lol
@@SeniorHiker77: People keep telling me old is a state of mind... Then I look in the mirror and I change my mind.... lol.
Lol lol
Dude rules
This made me laugh when another Zpacks came out..
Thanks for your support and comnent. ATB

Thanks for your comment Princess Chenny. 👍
Hey there! I first saw you on As The Crow Flies Cumberland Island hike & just saw you commented on Mischief on the Trails video, whom I also follow. Small world! Anyway decided to check out your channel and just subscribed to you to support another fellow hiker. I have a hiking channel as well if you're ever interested in checking me out :-) Happy Hiking to ya!
I just found you in the spam column sorry about that but welcome aboard. 👌

Hi I stopped by to visit you're channel. I hit all the buttons and bell I hope you do too Tyfs ❤ I'm soooo Looking forward to seeing more videos. Have a wonderful day 🥰
You are adorable.
Give it to me!!! I'll use it
Hi sir, new friend here 🙋😘😊
Excellent!
If I were to buy a new pack, I'd likely go with that too. That OD color can't be beat. It looks milspec. The external frame reminds me of my vintage Jansport, which is over the top sturdy and heavier duty than most would need. Vintage is good though. That's why I take what wisdom you have seriously. You're probably having a Blast on those trails now. Take care and many blessings still hiking harder than most youth. Here's a blessing for you that someone shared with me once.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Good day sir.
I'm now considering a new Arc Haul maybe 60L for my winter loadout. I'm completely satisfied with the Zpacks products but don't like the prices. Lol
You absolutely right but I've been saving for a while. I'm going to bite the bullet so to speak buy it at trail days in Damascus.
@@SeniorHiker77 I'd call ahead and ask them to watch your reviews. Then ask if they can give you a deal on one of the OD Green Arc Hauls at the Damascus meet. If you talk to the owner, it would be the right thing to give it to you free. If I owned the company, I would.
