Please continue making videos like this as well as your fantastic exploration videos. I share these particular videos as RUclips links with my fellow club members of the Tonbridge Model Railway Club on our Facebook group because we definitely appreciate seeing vintage train sets being tested and run. It's good to see them being used and enjoyed.

Ours started as a basic GWR Pannier Tank Locomotive set on the living room floor in about 1978 and eventually took over the entire attic. IIRC it's still there.

You can use a pencil eraser to clean the track. That coupling between the engine and the passenger cars is interesting, but makes sense since the length of the cars and the radius of the curved track probably would work too well with traditional couplings.

Great unboxing video ! The trucks are meant to be a bit loose after a good cleaning and lube I’m sure it will work better !

The track supplied is a nightmare , so difficult to clean. Hornby later ditched these for nickel silver rails , much easier to maintain, just a good wipe with a cloth!

Pj996 battery you needed 2 of them, there wasn't a fully charged roadworks Yellow lamp in our area for some reason??..... As long as we put the flat ones back you never got caught as a kid. We used to talk to the road workers as they dug the hole and they would think we was interested in the hole or pipes, nope just working out the power consumption of our Hornby or Meccano motors verses the number of lights, Its a shame the council never thought to use rechargeable batteries.

Looks like you got a curved piece of track not connected properly just past the connection between the electric controller, and steel track was always terrible for getting dirty, I had this set and the 37 motor was terrible. Also the track connector has the two electrical contacts and they don't always come in to contact with the underside of the track so get a small flat screwdriver and lift them slightly. 😊

Fantastic Ian. Looks like you like model trains as I have got into. Loved the previous film on your 3 rail. I have just built a Simplex WW1 on an old hornby chassis. Keep up the good work 👍

You’ve got more chance of a Hornby train arriving on time than any trains running today
