Small Correction: Afaik the tugsten powder is not in that carrier "to dampen the impact of the gas piston", but rather to insure that the bolt is nicely closing after a new cartridge is fed into the chamber. Your example with the hammers showed it actually quite good. Sometime it happens with bolts, that they want to "bounce" open again when closing because of the involved stiffness of the surrounding material. The tungsten powder that (because of its inertia) "slams" internally forward at the exact right moment, avoids this movment. Fun Fact: G36 bolts also have an internal cavity that is filled with a metal powder, to do exactly the same thing.
I believe it also slightly reduces the cyclic rate with the added inertia, it does also help to dampen the piston striking the heel of the carriage and your example is correct and probably the biggest reason why it’s there. Some combos of barrel length, reciprocating mass, cartridge, load, etc. just don’t seem to physics as well as others and need a little tuning lol.
+1 on this, same hypothesis. Also recall some gun snobs and gun redditors trashing demo for putting an o-light on the mp7, as if it wasn't clear its just for the sponsored video. As soon as that video is done, look at it now with a proper surefire. Many of those dudes just wanna put someone down when others have what they can't have- a full auto mp7. Gun snobs would know that while posties aren't allowed in gun flexes unless its 2 FFL/SOTs, there's likely not much big shark SOTs out there that can beat a full auto mp7, even if its a posty especially since demo got that youtube money in other guns like tranny MGs etc.
I was thinking something similar. I don't think the powder would do anything to dampen the impact of the piston on the carrier, but it would work to reduce bolt-bounce.

Way to go man. Such a dream gun for so many people. It’s cool to see how you’ve grown in the industry to be able to accomplish this. Gives hope where there was previously none! Haha
The main purpose of the tungsten powder inside the carrier is to reduce “bolt bounce”, which can be a problem on high cyclic rate full auto guns. It also may reduce the impact force of the piston, but not the main purpose.
It's to prevent the bouncing of the carrier, so it locks it directly in place. Bolt bounce is no issue with hk gus, as the bolt 7s hold back with a spring. If you move to the bigger calibers, the primer is less sensitive, the bolt is free floating...if the initial impact does not ignite the round, a bit bouncing around won't have any affect. HK used the tungsten powder in the mp5 , G3 and G8 , and I guess in the newer weapons (like hk 417) as well.
You’d think either of those idiots would have known that. They clearly don’t pay attention or watch Ian’s videos when it comes to explaining why some guns are made the way they are.

AK50.... Shots fired! 😂
Now you need TWO MP7s, just so you can make a T shirt that says "My other MP7 is an MP7..."
That intro is classic. That’s huge man. You’re lucky
He undoubtedly is a Lucky Man - Mere, the Kids, his Mom and Dad, Siblings (Mark 😔) - Everything After I’m thinking Driven, Type- A, Effort and Smart Choices (with some risk). Great Comment!
The mp7 is sick. So compact and deadly wow!
Lol @ the intro. The one with Morgan Wallen is hilarious.
Thank you for the tip halfway through the video I realize all my life problems can be solved, I just need an MP7😂
I'm actually surprised to see the mp7 working so fast then again matt was probably 24/7 looking for ANY solution to make it work again lol.
When you have 11M subs, solutions find you!
That was epic! I love that you called out on the AK 50!!!
You also need a 22mm pistol & call out Kentucky
I was expecting to see Donut come running out of the woods in one of the skits... :(
Have Derek on more. He’s great.
Mat I’ve been watching since mid 2019 and love every video keep up the good work wish I could actually meet ya
Wow 2023 is wild. So wild that they got Matt to swear twice on the channel this year....both animal related too
I missed it! Minute?
@@Tomemos1Jager At 12:16 right after Mikey pulls the cat from the box, Matt says "Holy shit".
@@seaghanAjaahahaha unbelievable, thanks
Thanks for the update! This was driving me nuts with my OCD and I theorized the same conclusions minus the tungsten powder I didn't research yet, however I thought the same parts should be replaced including springs and the barrel to increase accuracy and longevity.
Now you and Donut hafta low key do a bolts and holes music video to continue the stepbrother saga!!! Showing all the stuff an Mp7 can fix!!! hilarious Thanks Mp7 man...a new spin on the trojan man commercial?!?!?
If I had 1 day hanging out with these guys, it would be life changing.
VGG AND FUCKING DEMO RANCH. MY DAY HAS BEEN MADE A FELLOW MIGHT HAVE TO STICK AROUND
Didn't larry vickers just plead guilty to having "police demonstration firearms" because the ATF came after him for having possession of said firearm, an it not being in the police armoury. I might be missing something but i hope they dont do the same thing to matt.
I was just thinking same thing, how is this legal? After hearing Vickers charges.
Same thing I was thinking. We don't know all the details of his ownership of the MP7, but hopefully the ATF doesn't target him.
I was greatly looking forward to the video of it getting fixed, but I accepted I'd have to wait ages for it. I'm so happy
MP7 in American civilian hands? Impossible
Look at what money does. Make laws go bye bye.😂
Matt has an 07 FFL, Ranch Entertainment Industries LLC.
@@r0nb0h0juso does Larry vickers and he just plead guilty to essentially the same thing:D
