I’m on my 40s and I swear to God don’t feel old, not one bit. I workout, take care of my health and I’m still a teenager at heart, but watching the things around me move through the years is where it hurts. My old house, the dogs I had, the friends that are no longer around. Music is a treasure for me and I try to rescue as much as I can because I know I’ll need it in a few years, specially in this weird times. Thanks for this.
I have those feelings too. Tho' I'm from the other part of the globe - I'm Indonesian... But I can relate... I witnessed the American culture through so many TVs programs and the news (back then & now) - and I can tell the happiness what I have seen there, with my own personal experience I had in the past - shaped me about how I see the world today. And I dare to say that the best, purest joy of the US citizen is there in the mid 70's until the early / mid 90's. Today, it's all about negativity that woke media is forcing on people... inflation, immigrants, radical islam, woke people, crazy inexplivable govt policy, the covid era, LBGT that is too demanding, politicisized BLM, pro-palestinians, crazy economy, the unequality of standart of living, the social behaviour, housing problems, fentanyl problem, massive control by giant corporate and tech industry like Monsanto & Black Rock, mass shooting, forceful islam, crimes by black & group of people, and ... low-quality music from evil music industry. The young generation today are living the life that make them so unhappy and desperate. The clip (& the music back then) is amazing - and encouraging. And I can relate with what you feel about them today... But I hope there will be more Americans in their 40-50s feel the same like you do. Maybe you guys - who have the awareness - can make a movement to help them.
Unless you actually lived through this era, you’ll never understand how special it was. Happy I got to experience it, first hand! Music, movies, TV shows were all the best. Life was simpler. We had technology, but weren’t dependent on it.
Don't forget the smells too...of vinyl records, 8 track and cassette tapes, old books, machine oil (think about how the old Singer sewing machines smelled), new cheap pool floats, hot electronic components, Aqua net hairspray, old vinyl muscle car interiors, gasoline, airplane and model glue, permanent markers (whew! gives me a headache)...can you smell a freshly opened pack of garbage pail kids or other trading cards? Some smelled different. Scratch n sniff stickers (mmmm pickle was my favorite lol)! Old department stores with flickering and humming lights...HOW ABOUT THE SMELL OF MANGLORE AND HIS BUDDIES, LOL?! I even feel like the smell in the atmosphere was different, to include the smell of rain coming...LOL, maybe my nose is just getting old and worn out! A lot of the smells above, and more, were great, some were bad but nonetheless memorable!
Fantastic! My only complaint is you forgot the rite of passage every young man goes through at some point: transforming into a werewolf in the middle of a basketball game.
Your video montages are pure genius. For those of us that grew up in this decade, we thank you. These transport us to a time when life was simpler and, by ALL accounts, pure magic. Thank you for that.
If i could have 1 wish, that 1 wish would be to relieve the 80s for 6 more years. That would be my 1 wish and for my 80's movie actor's too live for ever young. RIP 🙏 TO ALL DOES GREAT 80 ACTOR'S AND ACTRESS THAT HAVE PASS THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING .PS FOR EVER YOUNG, ALFAVILL
Get on your bike and disappear for the day with your friends and go on adventures. Not a worry in the world. Don’t come back until dinner time. Rinse repeat. Those were the days.
I was born in the 70s and experienced the 80s and 90s. I admit that I took much of it for granted. That was a mistake. Then again, maybe there's no way to avoid pangs of regret from our coming of age. What a time though. A rich rich culture. I saw somewhere someone asked if it's normal to cry looking at these videos. I don't know if it is but I'm disturbed by the thought that it isn't.
Definitely is alright to cry to this. I do. Sometimes I get too caught up in the good old days. They say there’s a term for that called “nostalgic depression”
Born in 73.. I'm watching this video almost getting choked up. The early 80s, jr high. High school. The memories playing with my cousin's. We were close. Going thru life together. Girls, dating, fights, roller skating, sports, video games, MTV. Now our parents are all slowly starting to pass away. I'd give anything to back to that house on Middletown rd.
Just remember that most of the 80s wonderful entertainment was inspired from the real life, as the wonderful 80s were, as life in the 80s was gonig on, entertainment imitating life
I remember having great times with close friends in the 80's where the car stereo was cranked and we danced on the driveway around the car and onto the street. Everyone was happy, carefree, all was well in the world around us! Where has that all gone, how do we get back there?!
Another beautiful reminder of what was the greatest decade in our lives my moms generation had the 50s and 60s the boomers had the 70s and alittle of the 80s we have the 70s and the golden era of our time the beautiful 80s

As we move into the future, I feel like so many amazing things in my past just die away, and I watch things like this video to try to rekindle some of those memories
Good thing is that much of the first half of the ‘90s was a continuation and expansion of ‘80s pop culture! So you did get some time there to really come to know the decade.
When 1980 hit I was 5, my first memories are from around 4 so I remember all of the 80s for the most part..Some of those movies I watch with my teenage son these days and they r still Great..Can’t buy me Love, License to drive, man I watched that one over and over I remember I had that recorded on a Kodak VHS tape that had yellow label on it..Streaming and things of today are great I am not one of the older people that doesn’t like anything new I enjoy the new metal bands of today with my son and I love the new technology we have but pretty hard to describe to my son bein a latchkey 80s kid…Best times of my Life I will always treasure!! The music and the movies, but mostly the memories of friends and family members that aren’t here anymore to talk to..Great video
Great video and song! Loved living in the eighties, still reliving it as much as I can doing things I did back then. Even still driving a 1987 Buick Regal limited still with tape deck inside and all original.
