If you want ideas on how to make Venusaur good, I have some. For starters I think it is quite underrated, there are a lot of traits that people never mention on the discord. Did you know both solar beam and petal dance get cool down reductions every level? They start at a 11 second cd, but by level 13 they are only 9 seconds. To synergize with Gengar the best move choice would be sludge bomb + solar beam. Sludge + Petal dance doesn’t really work because without the defensive boost of giga drain you can’t stay in the fight. A big thing I noticed with Venusaur is hist third hit trait. What it does is pulls/pushes every enemy it hits to be in front of Venusaur at around the max range of the vine whip. This means Venusaur can control the position of their opponents to some degree. Solar beams damage is amazing if it hits for both hits, but it is quite hard to land both. However if you land a combo of sludge bomb -> third hit -> solar beam it will be guaranteed barring your opponent eject buttoning out at the perfect timing. This is because they are slowed by sludge bomb and you have repositioned them in front of you. So far in all the Venusaur vids I haven’t seen anyone doing this. They go for solar beam snipes and get “meh” performance. The combo I suggest guarantees a full solar beam, and can even do a full solar beam on multiple enemies if they are clumped up. Not to mention the sp def debuff sludge provides. Lastly, run buddy barrier with Venusaur. The idea is that you want yo activate your ult when you have lost enough health that you proc overgrow, then you ult to shield yourself for 40% of your hp, so you can stay in overgrown state and keep fighting. Overgrow seems to be a significant dps increase, so this makes Venusaur’s terrible ult amazing.
Excellent tips! I need a teammate like you on Venusaur when I bust out my Gengar! Sludge bomb + third hit auto is such a nice grouping combo. Imagine snorlax heavy slamming into that *0*
@@yocuppajoe They compliment each other well. Bulba starts off strong with razor leaf, making up for Gengar starting off weaker. Lick + razor leaf would be nice too. Once you hit level five Ivysaur takes sludge bomb and Gengar runs Shadowball. Both moves reduce sp defense, and they would probably melt tanks. Shadowball has a 4.5 second cd, and he could harass hard with the sp def debuffs. They lack hard CC and escapes, so you have to be really careful about the enemy jungler. You would likely not get many kills in your lane without your jungler’s assist, but I think you could easily win your lane and consistently pressure your lane to earn goals and steal their camps. ruclips.net/video/2zL_CxAZ63s/видео.html Check out 5:17 to see how the third hit repositions. He seems like the hardest to use out of the speedsters. I hope this means his skill ceiling will be higher than theirs as well. I’m probably gonna main Gengar, so I’ll most likely upload a build/combo guide for him after release.
@@yocuppajoe As a fellow gengar main in the beta I’ve noticed that sludge bomb hex jumps can get easy double kills and when showing up to a fight you can easily completely flip fights. He is totally surprise based. If he isnt flanking and ganking he is not winning
I can’t wait to see what Gengar is capable of in a few days! Definitely makes sense for him to be a surprise burst damage character. I just wonder how surprising you can really be against higher level players who will know to assume that the Gengar is waiting to turn the fight around.
It says in-game that Hex does more damage with any status condition, could they have changed that to make him a bit better? When you are sneaking and have not attacked with his Unite move, can the enemies see you at all?
The enemies cannot see Gengar during his unite move, but if you get close to them a purple cloud will appear above their head letting them know that Gengar is nearby
I've been using Gengar now that the game launched, and Sludge Bomb + Hex is absolutely bonkers. The damage is absurd and you get to reset Hex's cooldown more than a couple times if you do it right. Not sure if it's been changed since the beta, but I'm feeling he's doing pretty good right now.
Yeah I’m having a blast with him too. Weaker than Zeraora in the first two minutes, but once I’ve got my hex + sludge bomb I can take control of the game.

I love Gengar's kit it just looks so fun to play, I wish he wasn't overshadowed by other Pokemon tho

Really? He felt strong even at level 3 with just lick and will-o-wisp! Each move upgrade only gives him even more power.
