Welcome back Coach Carreon. My rec league association hosted our first tournament this past November for Under 11 (U11) Boys and Girls. It wasn't a fundraiser but rather an 'get the kids experience' purpose. Lucky for us we have a lot of great volunteers.. a Tournaments coordinator, a Gym Coordinator, and both a Boys and Girls Coordinator.. plus all our executive/directors/coordinators. So we had plenty of staff. Finding a good date that works (does not conflict with league games/school events) took a bit, but once we had the dates (Fri-Sat-Sun) and location (1 School, Split Gym, 2 Short Courts). Refs were all volunteers.. one adult (usually a coach) and one teenager (older player). We got T-Shirts made (kinda generic so we could use them year over year). We had a snack table (and Interact Payment collection). Each team played minimum 3 games. $350/Team. 8 Boys and 8 Girls Team. We did not charge parents to watch (again, wasn't about making money). We actually did make a bit of money.. but the kids in general (and the coaches/parents) had a wonderful experience. I would suggest trying to make sure the teams are CLOSE in skill level if at all possible. Otherwise.. make your rules clear and send the to coaches EARLY so they can know what they can (or cannot) do. We did Championship Shirts for the winners (not Trophies/Medals, but would consider it next year). We hope to do this Tournament again next year.
Heck yeah Coach!
Welcome Back, you’ve been missed!
