@@brooke.f1764 hmmm… think outside the box for this one. It may not taste like classic tiramisu but it will be delicious. Since you can’t really find egg replacements which taste most like tiramisu, I recommend whipping cream (or plant based cream) with some sugar to your taste, vanilla, & mascarpone (if you can’t eat mascarpone then use soy yoghurt or skip it). Use that as the cream. Hope it helps!

I’m a bit of a tiramisu snob (I’m not Italian, it’s just my absolute favourite that I’ve eaten tons of over the years!) and this is the recipe I use - and I totally agree that it has to be eggs and not cream, BUT, you have to try using Amaretto with the coffee, it’s utterly divine! I took Gino d’Campo at his word when he said this and, oh my god, he’s so right!! 😍

Tried this recipe is this is the BEST recipe for tiramisu. It’s light, creamy and just perfect. I couldn’t wait for 24 hours for the tiramisu to sit in. I waiter 3 hours and it came out SO GEWD!
So glad you made this the right way, with raw egg, no cream and no unnecessary additional ingredients. My favourite version is Nigella's Frangelico tiramisu. The hazelnut liqueur compliments the flavour of the coffee and cocoa so well.

I would like to commend you. I am determined to make Tiramisu for my mom's birthday and because I am very nervous I ended up watching over 20 videos on how to make it. This is the first video that has brought up salmonella poisoning and I applaud you for that. In South Africa alone for the whole of the last year we have suffered 502 cases of deaths linked to salmonella poisoning. Keep up the good work!

1. separate eggs 2. add sugar to yolks and whisk till pale fluffy 3. mix this with mascarpone 4. whip egg whites in clean bowl til soft peaks 5. slowly add caster sugar to egg white till stiff peaks 6. one spoon of peaks into egg yolks and vigorous mix, then fold rest of peaks into yolks in two halves gently 7. assemble
I've tried recipes where whipping cream is used but somehow it was a bit lackluster so I decided to try your recipe and wow, it's really the best tiramisu! Even without alcohol, it was still delicious. I did however dust a layer of cocoa powder after the first layer of cheese mixture which made it taste more chocolatey. From now on, this is the only way I'm going to make tiramisu.
I have waited for a proper Italian recipe for Tiramisu because my Nan showed me her Italian recipe for it and after I made it 5 years ago I couldn’t find it so I am so happy you are doing it 🥰

Yes! No cream! I learned how to make tiramisu from a Sardinian friend's grandma way back in college, and it was so easy to remember: 1 egg, 100g mascarpone, 1 tbsp of sugar. 1 shot of espresso, 1 teaspoon of strong alcohol. Personally after many attempts I've found I like it with even less sugar sometimes, but that's preference.
