Human Kindness Lyrics
I know that there’s more to this ugly game
I see a war designed to never be tamed
I’ve slept in the rubble, amongst the shame
Screaming at the bombs
, this is not in my name
I’m seeking kindness
I’m longing for safety
I'm praying for home
I’m craving compassion
Searching for sanity
Praying for home
I’ve been stripped to the bone
Home Is where we can belong
Home Is where our children grow strong
Home Is where the fire burns long
Home Is where peace can come from
I’ve travelled for months, ran thousands of miles
I fled the land that holds the heart of my kin
And I know you now see the torn state I’m in
I can’t tell you my name or the places I’ve been
...
I’m praying for human kindness
I'm praying for human forgiveness
I'm praying for us to all to belong
They call me a migrant
They call me a thief
They call me a beggar man
An asylum seeker
I was once a teacher
I was once a family man
I was once a dreamer
A community leader
And I’ve seen friends and family
all scattered and broken
and we don’t know why the cruelty keeps raging
Yes I’m seeking your kindness
I’m longing for safely
I'm
praying for home
I’m craving compassion
Searching for meaning
And I feel so alone
I’ve been stripped to the bone
Home Is where we can belong
Home Is where our children grow strong
Home Is where the fire burns long
Home Is where peace can come from
The album song ’Human Kindness’ is inspired by homelessness and the refugee crisis with Carrie stating,
"I was aware of the desperation and need for volunteers and felt compelled to try and help,
so I spent a few days at a refugee camp in Calais and wrote it after talking to a man who had fled his war-torn country with just the clothes he was wearing.
In a wider sense, the song is also about the fundamental human need for ‘home' and the link between a sense of belonging and kindness, but this is a raw and painful struggle for so many.
In Calais I met people who had seen their homes and lands destroyed and had become separated from their families. It is history repeating itself once again.
The terms ‘asylum seeker’ and ‘migrant’ are used so often, but I can feel distant when hearing them. When I saw what these people needed, it felt so much more real to me than these labels. Every person has a name, a beating heart, dreams and loves.
It connected me to the universal needs of every human being."
This song... somehow touched my heart and tears roll every single time I hear it... EVERY single time!
Thank you, Carrie Tree for putting to words & music these feelings 🙏🏼
Mine too. Tears rolling at the first 'ugly game'.
I’m touched you feel this David. Thank you for your tears and words ✨
Oh. This makes me sob.
The joys and pains of the human condition.
What an exquisite piece of music.
Thank you, Carrie.
Thanks for feeling it deeply. Yes, the precious human experience! What it is to be alive! 😊
This gets me so deeply, feeling the pain and the hope, the journey of human, may you find your tribe 🙏
❤️
Thank you for your words Laila, and for feeling it deeply. I wrote this from the voice of a Syrian Refugee I met in Calais. I was so touched by the situation - of him being stripped of all he knew.
Praying for human kindness 💛
@@CarrieTreeVideoI hope Cheryl will get your message, Carrie. I think it is for her.
I sent you a heart, because I had no words - I am very touched by your song and play it often❤️
So, so much more than just a song. Maybe an anthem or hymn?… not sure what it is but it speaks and connects directly with a sacred part within me… so grateful for this creation. 🫶🏼
For us all to belong ... 💜💜💜💜
Thank you Carrie & blessing to everyone❤🌹

This is a lovely, lovely song and your singing (& playing) makes it grow in meaning and emotional effect as it develops. (I've felt less responsive to some of your previous singing which happened to be a little too 'whispery' for my taste. Perhaps I've been careless in my listening!) 'Human Kindness' ambushed and steadily captivated me with its strength, commitment, wisdom and beauty. It was good to read of your own experience behind the lyrics : I wholeheartedly agree. Thank you very much - and hope to hear you playing in Brighton before too long.
Thank you for your words Tony. So glad you feel it! I'm playing In Brighton 21st November at the Rosehill if you happen to be about :) It's a wonderful venue... carrietreerosehill.brownpapertickets.com/

Beautiful!
I am deeply touched... moved to tears. Am so curious if you were inspired by Marshall Rosenberg in any way, or if you ever came across Nonviolent Communication - the lyrics have such resonance to this work to me! Thank you so much for sharing : ) x
Hi Eric, thank you for your lovely message. Ah yes, dear Marshall Rosenberg! I have been lucky enough to explore some of NVC and I love it deeply. It’s helped me massively to understand and move through this world , with my giraffe ears on 😊
So beautiful ❤️ do someone knows chords for this beautiful song?? Many please 🙏
Beautiful song. New sub xxx
Thanks Bex 🙏
👋
Beautiful ❤️
Could you share the chords? I d love to play it
Thanks so much for a delightful gig at The Rose Hill last night - including another moving chance to hear this elemental song. There were several other songs that struck me - with the encore ('Alive'?) particularly fine - with delightful mandolin from Keith Ellis. I admire your guitar style very much - really good to appreciate it live - and I liked your words. (Enjoyed speaking a little with your friend (Ali?) - around Mindfulness work in Hastings). Good luck with your tree-planting & canoe-venue tour! (You asked for suggestions of river songs ... I'm fond of Cry Me A River sung by Diana Krall - ruclips.net/video/S4hPii_RVHE/видео.html )
Hi Tony, thank you for that lovely feedback. Great you enjoyed the gig. I love that venue and we had such a lovely crowd! Hmm wishing we can return to gigging again soon! I’ll be back there soon as I can! Wishing u well ✨
@@CarrieTreeVideo Good luck with your creativity - & health - in the meanwhile. Good wishes, Tony.
