Athan, the most reliable method for proper steering angle is to tape the clock spring rotor to its case so that it does not rotate. Rotating the clock spring to the end of the tape commonly results in premature failure, because the tape will not reel properly and kink over time.
Is it not possible to reset sensor by turning the wheel all the way to the left and right then center while cycling the key? I know this was 6 years ago but I don’t have a scanner and really need to know this. I have a 2009 dodge ram 1500

How are you moving the steering angle sensor? Are you using that tool or your finger? Are you pushing it up (left) or down (right) to get it to go nearest zero?
Did you end up having to change the clock spring? I rotated my wheel like 10 times to the left while it was disconnected from the gear box and now my steering wheel controls don’t work.

I’ve removed plenty of airbags without disconnecting the battery just don’t be a dummy when disconnecting airbags
I agree it should always be disconnected or at least remove the airbag fuse

No, sorry not in Sydney anymore
can you tell us what scan tool you are using to get the steering angle. I imagine you need this tool to do the job.
We were using the genuine Dodge software but you can use the Snap On scan tool or another tool that can show you live data from the ABS "from Memory"

i changed my steering box now my airbag light and my service electronic brake system light are on

how did you get the bottom part of the steering column cover off. I can't get the tilt lever to come off
