Petrik, I would like to thank you for making me aware of Ryan Cahill. I’ve had “Of Blood & Fire” for about a year and finally got around to it. In the last 10 days I burned through all the books and novellas (had to get the latest on Kindle). I’m literally depressed the next book won’t be out for quite a while I imagine. One of the best fantasy series I’ve ever read.
Super cool dude! I'm excited to begin this series. I couldn't justify the price + shipping of the novellas to South Africa (self-published books are just unfortunately so expensive!) but got the novels off The Broken Binding. It's also really cool the first novella is also free, always nice to see when introductory stories are available.
Just to add, although the price is higher I don't mind the cost with SP books as the artwork is great and the additional value mentioned is a nice touch.
Thank you, Jonathan! Yeah, the price of shipping is always an issue when it comes to us international readers! Thankfully, lately many self pub books have great contents! :)
Quick note on the Amazon giving 35% royalties on pricing of 0.99. With most transactions, there is a transaction cost of 0.30 + 2.9% (sometimes as low as 2.5%). This is the fee that retailers pay every time a credit card/ debit card is used to transfer funds from one place to another (from the consumer to the retailer)- from the reader to Amazon. 30 cents doesn't sound like a lot but when a book cost 0.99- that is 30% of the cost of the book is in the transaction free itself. That is why they only give 35% royalty because if they paid the author the same 75% royalty they would pay the author 0.75 and then a transaction fee of 0.30. They would lose money on every book they sold. That royalty deduction is mainly based on that transaction fee. The more money in a transaction the less it matters.- 0.30 on a 0.99 transaction is a big chunk but way less meaningful in the overall numbers on a 2.99 transaction. Just food for thought.
Thank you Petrik for taking the time to interview Ryan. The Fall is my favourite fantasy novella ever and we need to get the word out. AND it should be read first! lol
Just finished Of Darkness and Light and...oh my God!! Amazing book and I really hope Of War and Ruin comes out SOON!! Incredible book and a must-read!!
One of my favourite reviewers chatting with one of my favourite authors? Heck yes, you made my day!! 🤩 Loved all the questions you asked and I loved hearing Ryan's answers! Also, you are definitely not the only one who missed Belina in book 1, lol. She is definitely one of my favourite characters though, I adore her dark humour and sarcasm. So happy to hear that you loved The Exile as well, though that really is no surprise now, is it? Haha, Dayne is such an intriguing character, I can't wait to see more of him! Thank you so much for sharing this interview, I loved it! 🤍
Aww thank you so much, Esmay! Yeah I completely forgot she was in book 1. It's been a while since I read Of Blood and Fire. But yes, I love Belina! Can't wait to see more of Dayne and her! :)
Awesome Interview Petrik , Ryan is special talent, I never got the Eragon comparisons, but that’s me! I feel privileged to be part of his ARC Team and can’t wait for the next one in December 🙏 . Thank you both for doing what you do!
Great job petrik and Ryan! This interview was fantastic! I agree that cover art is important but for me I very rarely decide based on covers! I mostly read books based on you reviews and reviews on RUclips! There’s a lot of books I don’t even know/remember what cover looks like!😀
Thank you so much! I think cover art decides whether you will give an author you never heard of or read before a bigger chance. I doubt we'll check out the preview of something from an unknown author if it has a cover art that we hate. 😂 Can't complain that my reviews helped, though! 😊
This is a great interview man I finally picked up of blood and Fire and now I'm off to the races so far it has a very classic feel with a Modern Edge and I can definitely see that he loves John Gynne I've been reading a bunch of book ones lately I might end up going on in this series I've been having an ADD problem lately and can only read book one and then I want to go to something else maybe this book will break that monotony anyway another great video by the best booktuber on RUclips
Thank you so much, Johnathan! Haha, I've been feeling that a lot lately. I used to be a huge binge reader but lately everytime I finish a book, I have to read a book in a different series first before diving back in.
Wonderful conversation Petrik! I already had Ryan’s books marked as want to read on my goodreads thanks to Dom but after watching/listening to you two talk I think I’ll have to buy it and read asap. Your reaction to finding out that character was in the first two books was hilarious😂 Have a good day!
Thank you so much, Drew! I can understand not remembering the character in the first book. She appeared briefly there, and it has been a while since I read the first book. But I seriously just finished the second book and loved it! How my brain skipped that she was there is genuinely ridiculous... xD
Just binged Of Darkness and Light in less than 2 days and what a level up, an amazing story and character mix! Sincerely hope it ends up being a 6 book series 😬the more the merrier in this world! I actually read the Fall before and after Of Darkness and Light and it certainly seemed to add a lot more the 2nd time around!
Awesome conversation! That definitely got me interested to read this series. Quick question : Are the interior artworks also in the paperback versions or are they exclusive to the hardbacks?
PATRICK How come you didnt NOTICE BELINAAAA in all the series. she is my favourite character.. i saw his book first in kindle unlimited and downloaded then you recommended so i started to read it immediately... Im taking my time reading the exile becouse i love how its written.. thank you 😊
I KNOWWW RIGHT!? The thing is, I keep on remembering there was this awesome lady in Dahlen's POV (I didn't like Dahlen) but for god knows what, I kept on thinking that's not THE SAME Belina! xD I mean, OF COURSE it will be her. Goes to show what happened when I'm reading a POV I'm not interested in... xD That being said, she is now one of my favorite characters in the series after reading The Exile!
@@PetrikLeo I did had the same thought when i finished of Darkness and light and started the Exile .. i want back to Ryan's website and open glossary page to double check 😅😆 .. ryancahillauthor.com/glossary-of-darkness-and-light/
Awesome, love his books. Fans of Gwynne should read his books asap !
Thank you so much! I agree. Such great books!

You're so welcome! It's pretty awesome isn't it? I will post my Of War and Ruin + series review next week!
Ohh I like the Ryan's answer to the pantser or planner question
Yeah! I feel like that's one of the most apt answer for the question. Everyone is both a planner and pantser! :D
Yes. Awesome Petrik. I've been waiting for this interview👏🤩
Thank you so much, Samuli! Enjoy the chat!

You're welcome! That's high praise! I love The Exile more. 😁
As always, wonderful video Petrik! You've definitely convinced me to move Cahill up on my TBR list. Keep up the great content, you are an inspiration!
Thank you so much, Matt! I hope you'll enjoy Cahill's books! I will do my best! :)

Yessss! I think Of War and Ruin will be even netter. Can't wait!
Pausing this video, purchased the book, pressing play on chapter 1.......now.
Enjoy! :D

Fantastic video Petrik, I binge read Of Darkness and Light followed immediately by The Exile, this series is sooo good!
Thank you so much, Mandy!! Yeahh that's what I did, too! 😄
Petrik, this is a terrific interview. I’m definitely reading Of Blood and Fire.
Thank you! I appreciate that! 😄
Great conversation between two of you.
Thank you so much! :)
This was such a good interview!! I will try to make this series a priority now, it sounds so good :) thank you petrik!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching. I'm glad it's useful!
His books are the next thing to buy (on Kindle - I want to have it all in this format). His serie is a grower (at least for me).
Yeah, it gets better and better with each book! :)

That's an interesting reading order! I heard the series will be 5 books long for sure. But with several novellas like The Fall and The Exile! :D
Great interview! Looks like I will start with The Fall even though that might be controversial for some fans!
Thank you! Well, I did start with The Fall, too. 🤣
I love that you listed the books in the correct order Petrik 😂
Watch me spark riot by moving The Fall as the first book to read... 😂😂

Hi 👋 great video with the author! Sorry 😐 this series wasn’t for me though... happy reading to you!! 🎬🎼
No worries. Sometimes that happens! :)
and also does anyone else think Rist is on the spectrum?
I'm quite confident Rist is on the spectrum!
What is a baldir?
Storyteller in this series! :)
@PetrikLeo of darkness and light chapter 5 page 39
Calen quickly dismissed his thought to create a baldir.
