Points scoring needs a major overhaul. The best illustration was Yuki scoring 14 points in Vegas for qualifying last and later retiring the car. What the absolute hell was that.

100 percent… v Alonso who finished 9 and got 12 fantasy points? In no other fantasy leagues does someone do objectively worse than another team/player and get more points…. Ludicrous

Yes, I really hope they change that for the better in '24. Need to find a way to reward those strong drives from budget drivers rather than reward what is effectively a bad drive from Tsunoda in LV

man ... i could talk about this all night!! 😁
loved the review - i was really hoping you would do that. what struck me was how few DNFs ... and particularly double DNFs ... you seem to have had. i had a gut-punching four of them so my review video would have been a much more four-lettered affair! i was looking back at my previous years and this is the first time in the last 4 years that i've been outside the top thousand - and it wasn't even close this year!! still turned out to be really enjoyable though ... with the help of the likes of you and Rob to look forward to each race.
i completely agree with everything you said in terms of improving the game. i feel like the best parts of this season and from the old PlayOn format would combine to make a really really good experience. here's hoping this kind of feedback makes its way to the developers before next season.
thanks again, mate! take it easy and enjoy your first Xmas as a dad! 🥳

I certainly had a lot of single DNFs but yeah don't think I had any multiple DNFs. Lucked out on that! Yeah, I really hope the take on board feedback and make some real improvements. I guess we'll find out in February! Have a great break and thanks for your time commenting through the season 😁

I left a long ranting comment but it got deleted maybe because I commented on one of the comments. Anyway. Quick summary: congrats on 84. We were all rooting for you. Please kill DNF for obvious reasons. I don’t like popularity contests in a game of strategy so DOTD 👎🏻. What these developers seem to have forgotten is that we managers are fans of the sport so it is antithetical to penalize drivers who qualify well as opposed to rewarding bad qualifiers. The overtakes are for me the worst part of the format. Positions gained I could live with. I could go on but you covered everything so well. Merry Christmas early Tom. Thanks for a season

Thanks, Michael! I agree on the overtakes, they need to nerf that in 2024. There's so much they could do to improve the game, so let's hope they do at least some of it! Thanks for all the insightful comments you've made this season and thanks for rooting for me! 😁

On pricing I agree the increases made things more interesting but they were too conservative with decreases. Why were Hamilton and Leclerc still much higher priced than their team mates at the end of the year? Why was Logan Sargent more expensive than Riccardo?

      @michaelfierman3256 10 месяцев назад

absolutely true. These high end teams and drivers like MER and FER + LEC HAM etc should be far more subject to dramatic price changes ....whether they be up or down.

The point system was so bad, I created my own pricing spreadsheet that we used for our work pool instead of F1’s… all points based on 1.75 points per million based on a rolling average of points scored per race. Worked much better. Oddly Sergeant was negative money, meaning if you took him, your budget grew.

Hey Tom, thanks for all your hard work this season! I loved the videos and share a lot of your feelings regarding the state of the F1 game.
I hope to see them implement a period (such as 3 races) at the start of next season where they dial in the pricing before it starts affecting the budget. Mercedes was essentially a non consideration for 90% of the year due to being overpriced from the start and Aston Martin was mandatory to have all 3 in your lineup because they were so under priced. They could not make the required changes becuase it would throw the game out of whack if you increased or reduced a driver or constructor's value by 50% once it was affecting budgets.
The game got a lot more interesting at the end of the season when we actually had choices to make instead of 3x Red Bull, 3x Aston Martin and one of three budget driver options.

Thanks for the feedback! I personally think that they should be able to nail the pricing based off testing. The problem in 2023 was they got it massively wrong which they surely won't do again. They might get it a little wrong but they can mend that with equal price changes both up and down for performing and underperforming drivers. Let's just hope they get it right, because ultimately its up to them, not us!

I ended up top 5k which is not that great but I took huges risks into the last two races not putting Verstappen and RB in, hoping he would crash 😂 which obviously made me loose a ton of points

I did something similar last year, took big gamble in Abu Dhabi (being different for the sake of it) and it cost be a couple thousand places! If it worked then its great, but it's not very likely to do so. As long as you're happy with that success rate then there's nothing wrong with going different! You still had a very good season!

Could also some quality of life items... such as improve length of time for provisional points get updates. Given technology today, we should be able to see results rather quickly if not real-time. That would help everyone's engagement.

Thanks again Tom! I think I ended up with just a single point more than you (6865 - RBR - Gives You Wins), couldn't have of done it without all of your advice and tips this season.
