7 reasons why the Noble's Slender Sword is the best weapon in the game. 1 - It has the Longsword moveset, which is the best moveset. Forget those penniless pretenders with their fancy weapon arts, explosions, teleports and all that voodoo. You are nobility. Your puissance is yours alone, your weapon is just an accessory to that. 2 - It is looooong. A whole peasant's hand longer than those filthy longswords the soldiers use. Long weapons have long hitboxes. Poke your dissidents before they can dirty your attire. Then laugh at them for being poor. 3 - It gets top of the line in Dexterity scaling and takes exceptionally well to elemental infusions, for those with discriminating taste. Strength builders can even get it up to A, just please use Soap first. As if you were the type to get into fisticuffs anyway - that's what summons are for! 4 - It has 110 crit modifier, because people who parry a lot are just better than everybody else. Backstabbing, too, is very appropriate for a nobleman. 5 - It has rock bottom requirements. Even your noodly-armed Astrologers and Bandits can pick it up right away, without wasting points in Strength like a pack animal. Being an aristocrat is easy. 6 - It looks absolutely balling and is a necessity in any fashionable build. Forget the gauchely decorated Rogier's Rapier with its inhuman Dexterity requirement, it just smacks of new money. This refined, elegant weapon is coated in the timeless glamour of gold, conveying the splendor that is yours by birthright. 7 - It is an ultra rare drop from the few enemies who carry it. You can farm for hours, grinding hundreds and thousands of Nobles into paste without ever seeing it. Only the luckiest and most privileged aristocrat-killers may own this opulent deathstick. That's you. You won. Congratulations, winner.
I somehow got one of these, A Noble Estoc AND a Aristocrat Hat all in one go from the troll caravan in Limgrave. Immediately changed the direction of my build to roleplay as Dick Turpin the Highwayman.
ngl the 40 minutes for the weapon drop kinda made me giggle cuz it took me 2 whole days to get the whole cleanrot armor set (i was vagabond and didnt have anything in arcane and didnt know about item discovery)
Making the drop rate half a percent is just strange. It would've been a much faster grind at 2% or 4% like a lot of other item. I'm just glad it was a straight sword since square off works so well on it!
@@sandwich1601 I think From's intent with this was making this weapon feel special, it's one of the few weapons in the game where you're not guaranteed to get it just because you want it.
@@sandwich1601overall I wholeheartedly agree, but for some things it makes sense, like the drop rate for daggers isn’t particularly high, but over the course of the game I’ve accumulated a lot of them that I’m too lazy to sell, can you imagine if the drop rate was any higher? It would actually start getting annoying eventually.
I prefer the lordsworn's. Easier to obtain, longer than the broadsword, 110 crit, and better str scaling than the noble's. I go for strength so I can use a greatshield. The straight sword guard counter is fantastic, and pairs superbly with stance-breaking ashes
It droped the best for me in Caelid. There is a group of nobles near the coffins in south caelid close to the site of grace. If you can remember last noble to kill there turns into troll. Easy and fast to farm, there are like 8-9 nobles there
If 40 minutes is your longest weapon grind, yet, then chance has been kind to you. Grinding for the spiked spear made me want to cry. And I remember just giving up farming the flamberge thralls for their sword in DS3.
Remember that the normal Longsword (buy at Roundtable hold), and the Lordsworn (more common drop) are basically exactly the same. the little bit difference in Damage and scaling makes little practical difference. But if you Must Min-max, enjoy the grind.
have a character called noble swordsman which is just a guy with double lightning noble slender swords and I remember the farm to get them, bastards zombies in caelid let me have them after like, 8 hours of in game struggle.
Got a few of these in Limgrave. Very nice, no question. I just wish the handle had a white ivory like the Noble Estoc. Makes it nicer looking from the solid gold all over look.
I'm a big fan of a simple, single straight sword build ( typically strength and two-handed). I noticed however that in new game+ square off does not knock away shields as well. Example, a single R1 square off will no longer knock away the greatshield on the Lordsworn soldier in front of gatefront ruins. I think this is due to higher enemy scaling? In any case still a solid weapon and ash of war.
And its so nice looking! I dont like gold, but its proportions are just so quintessential! One of the reasons i like this series is because of the grounded and realistic designs like this one. I went back and played Dragon Age: Origins recently and remembered how things used to be, with giant foam sword looking crap. Skyrim too. Of course there are the outlandish things, but honestly the grounded desings make them stand out in a good way, like a foil.
I kid you not when I tell you that with my 50 arcane and no extra boosters to discovery; I got one on the very first guy that I killed in the same spot you said in your video... That sort of luck will never happen again in my lifetime
Farming tip: if you're playing the co-op mod, have your friends help. Sure, a few people can make cleaning out the Nobles faster, but the real kicker is that slain enemies will roll different drops per player. Enemies you kill might not drop anything for you, but they might drop something for your friends. Let's say you have 3 friends, not including yourself, so 4 players in total. If you all run through a farm spot together, then it's essentially making 4 runs instead of 1 at a time when you're by yourself.
I remember my first time grinding for the nobles estoc i got it in 20 minutes. The second grinding for a second one i ended up getting MULTIPLE noble slender swords before my second estoc. Tip when grinding: Focus on wearing equipment and using a magically imbued weapon to kill the enemy when trying to get rare items rather than leveling up the stat that increases item discovery. Ive tried this in ALL souls games, and it works. Wear any armor related to stealth, noble, or magic type sets. Of course, use a talisman/ring that increases item discovery. And use any magic imbued weapon to kill your enemies. I've used the theifs set and moonveil katana to grind for the magma blade, and i got it in 40-50 minutes.
I kinda wanna run a sword and board with this sword and ash, real fancy golden type fashion or my liking of the banished knight shield may make me cook up something more shiny.
If you want to sell the Noble's Slender Sword to someone, I feel like there's no better advertisement than the voice over done by Jeaney Collects. Not only does it aptly describe the actual mechanical benefits of the weapon, but it really gets you into the mindset of being a snobbish aristocrat who is just better than everyone else.
I'm trying this out on my int/dex build and even though it's still under upgraded for the area I'm in (Liurnia), it's already a very solid weapon that keeps up with my +3 Moonveil I was using. And the lower FP cost leaving more of it open for spellcasting is great.
I farmed at Raya Lucaria first for 35 minutes with no luck at all, that was demoralizing. I got it to drop at the Caelid Graveyard in just a few minutes, though!
That's weird in my very first play through 2 years ago on Gutz character I sorted my Inventory that weapon was the 3rd one I got. I remember using it in Stormvile Castle and thought to myself what a shitty weapon 😂

It's a decent (not great) weapon but the grind to get it is ridiculous. Then again I suppose From Software made some equipment so tedious to grind to give an incentive to play the game more, but I'd just rather buy it from a merchant.
If I have an arcane build with that being by primary stat dump, would the noble's slender sword do good damage if you put an occult affinity on it? I'm never quite sure about how scaling works, or if I can make any weapon decently powerful if I just change the affinity to my main stat.
If you want the Slender Sword to do more damage as an arcane build, Occult Infusion will be your best bet. Occult will give a B scaling to the Arcane stat, meaning points in arcane will grant a decent amount of points to your Attack Rating. Better Attack Rating means more damage! You can always adjust your affinity to match your build, too. For example, if I had a strength build, I would put a heavy infusion on my weapon. Heavy affinity increases strength scaling, so I would do more damage that way!
