I just started playing in September of 21 and debated what putter to use. I just recently landed on the zero medium pure from latitude and I love it! Been mainly using judges since I started
YES! I've been putting with a zero medium pure since the beginning. I have tried other putters but nothing beats the feel of the pure! (I do putt with zero soft pures in winter because it's often like -15 C outside and the mediums are rock hard)
@@ApolloDiscGolf Everything is new to me right now! 😅 It is hard/overwhelming when you first start learning to find a putting putter. I went back and forth so many times on what i was going to use to putt with. I had also been throwing off the tee/approaching with the same putters that i putt with, which i realize is a no no now 😅🤣
@@RTEMPS5 Eh, starting out that's not too bad! It's more of a preference type thing, and paranoia that you are going to mess up your main putting putter by putting with it...
One thing that I think about when I assess the 'feel' of a putter that I think people don't really talk about is how well I feel that I can control the nose angle. It's basically how well my thumb on the top of the disc and my fingers on the bottom of the flight plate pinch together. I've found this ties pretty closely into the depth of the disc as you were describing. Just some food for thought - great video!
Yeah that's a good one too! I am finding that is what helps me the most with putting with beaded putters. With my hand against the bead I have a better idea of how I am releasing the putters in terms of nose angle.
Yeah DD has done a really good job staying on top of the demand the best they can over the pandemic! They have done a really good job keeping all their putters stocked up imo
Seriously your channel is very underrated. You should try to get on some podcasts (even pods from smaller creators like JK Disc golf). Totally love how you broke down the key elements- feel, depth. I'm not a fan of big beads when putting, and I like shallower discs... I find the Warlock and the Warden to be very consistent in my hands (which are on the bigger end with skinny fingers)
Depth has been the thing for me for sure. I use Yeti Pro Aviars, they are super shallow and I love the puddle top. They throw really well all the way up to 200ft and once broken in they can turn over with a slight pan making for beautiful left to right shots. I throw a Breaker for my upshot’s, forehand approaches and putter tee shots. I use the breaker because the profile is almost identical to the Yeti just slightly thicker rim and again the breaker is super shallow, making for consistent fast and clean releases. I’ll also put with the breaker when the winds are way up.
@@ApolloDiscGolf I have a couple of wardens, and it's about as deep as the wardens. I really loved the BT Hybrid Shield that came in the Westside Box last summer. The Faith feels similar to the shield in my hands.
One of the reasons I chose a DX Aviar as my putting putter is because of availability. It's the most popular putter in the world, and easiest to attain. It's not necessarily the best, but I've seen them in stock as much as any other putter, and I've found more Aviar putters than any other type out in the wild. They're basically everywhere. Also my first disc ever purchased was a Classic Aviar, which really is the same mold as the Aviar Putt and Approach, but I was in a pro shop, picked one up and felt it in my hand, and I was immediately sold on it. I've never switched, and I have a dozen of them, up to 10 of which I can use for putting practice.
WIZARD GANG!! I hope someday they make a wizard run that is cheesewiz inspired. I also really like Daggers however I think with Ricky signing they will be really had to come by.
For the majority of the first 3 years of playing (only into year 4) I putted with the Original Discmania P2, amazing putter. At first it felt deep in the hand, I don't have big hands, and after I'm guessing a week or 2 it felt normal in the hand; I grew to like the deepness of the putter. As soon as Discmania started making their own P2's separate from Discmania I switched to the Infinite Alpaca, which in my opinion is a slightly shallower P2, very subtle. I love this Putter, I didn't think I would find a putter as good as the Old P2's.
im more of an push putter that lisked deep putter i used to put whit pa3 (deep beaded putter) and i started put whit p2 protos and noticed they had way more glide
Yeah, the P2's are pretty nice! They are pretty overstable out of the box though... Once they beat in a bit, they will be great straight putters with a good amount of glide I'm sure!
@@ApolloDiscGolf i like really beaten up hard putters and my proto p2´s started be on perfect point after last season, but cant use them atm due its too cold to put whit hard putters, even flex2 feels harder than protos atm. waiting flex 3 p2´s even i do love proto´s. been handling new rainmakers to feel how flex 3 feels
So having tried a few putters now (mostly from gateway) I've decided for now that I like beadless putters and shallow because my hands are on the smaller side so I'm trying the shaman for now
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the EV7 putters. I'm currently looking for "my" putter. I landed on a Penrose bc for some reason they're super available in Alaska. I like them, but haven't tried enough putters to know how they compare. Love your videos!
I'm still trying to land on a putter right now. I have been putting with the K3 Berg recently and that has felt the best for me lately, but they can be weird for some with their top shape. In the past I've used the Fierce, Discmania original P2s, Gateway Warlock and aviars. I've bagged a Berg for about a year before I tried them for putting and I feel like I really know their flight because of that.
That's awesome! I don't personally know anyone who putts with Berg's, but I think Scott Stokely is putting with them on tour next year. So that should be really fun to watch!
Oh, Cliff Drive is one of my favorite courses! I just don't get out there to play it a whole lot... I mainly stick with the courses closer to me like Shawnee Mission, Lakeside Hills, and Heritage... And when I do go out that way I usually go to Waterworks.
@@davegentry7576 Oh yeah, I love the variety at that course. And I agree, the front 9 there is amazing. And then the back nine just takes it out of me... its just a ton of max drives. I don't get many birdies on the back nine. That course is fun and challenging though!
I have pretty big hands, but I absolutely love shallow putters. I started putting with an Elevation Koi this fall and it has led to a way cleaner game in the circle for me. I think because it's so floppy, it forces more of a spin putt, which is something I've struggled with living somewhere with a lot of wind that messes with push putts.
Nice! Yeah I think its easier to go shallower with bigger hands than it is going deeper with smaller hands. I have had a hard time getting clean releases when I putt with deeper putters. I have to get perfect timing...
I’m putting and throwing Emac Judges. During the winter I’m putting with Prime. During the year I putt with Eco Classic (inspired by Jesse @ Trash Panda). Throwing them in Lucid Moonshine. Love the microbead and how shallow they are. I can also power grip them and still get a clean release every time.
Not sure! Right now I am messing around with different discs. So my bag has changed a bit in the off season. I may to an in the bag later this year once my bag is more settled in.
Hey I love your video style man. The way each taking point is punctuated with a bit of your round is great.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Gateway Chief = a shallow Wizard; same great range of plastics and weights. Wizard is an all time classic, and the Chief is just a thin Wizard.
That sounds like a solid putter then! I would have to check them out!

Yeah the Pure is solid! I think it just gets overshadowed because its an older mold. But it's still one of their best putting molds!
@@Talzi. I definitely agree! You get such a clean release out of it. I also have a zero soft coming in because i can just have one lol!

I love my DD Judges. Classic Blend.
The judges really are just a shallower Wizard. They are great!
The Pure is another beadless not very deep putter. I use them for putting and throwing.
The pure makes for an amazing throwing putter!
Envy for throwing. EV-7 for putting

one store about an hour from me has a putting section with used putters you can test.

I've been using the Latitude 64 Royal Sense Faith and loving it, great beadless putter.
How deep is the Faith? is it similar in depth to a Warden/Luna type disc? or is it deeper like the P2?
