  • I visited Marlies Wirth, a curator and art historian creating exhibitions at the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts ("MAK") in Vienna/Austria.
#ondoubt publishes videography portraits with creative minds of all fields. Support it by subscribing to this channel, or at / on_doubt
For years, Marlies has focused the "Notion of Now", to understand the ever-changing shifts in contemporaneity, and how best to showcase them - by blending fine art with design, architecture, fashion, parcours design and extensive institutional collaborations.
As can be seen in this clip, Marlies' knowledge of our times sees her connect dots in amazing ways; from Hannah Arendt's "Human Condition" to Vilém Flusser's "On Doubt", from Marshall McLuhan's "Understanding Media" to Frithjof Bergmann's "New Work New Culture", from Hans Hollein's postmodern architecture to Michael Viktor Schwarz's rethinking of early church paintings - what a joy to have witnessed this.
The complete interview will be published as podcast on the project website: www.on-doubt.com/ (expect it within the next weeks)
Special thanks to Olivia Harrer/MAK for letting me use MAK footage, and to Frithjof Bergmann, Thomas Schneider & Andy Mayer for letting me use a snippet from the Frithjof Bergmann interview.
Thanks to all project patrons: Patrick Tejada, Adam Nogueira Hadar, Matthias Glöckner, leafthief, Siolo Thompson, MidiRiots, Andreas Varga, Ted Lemon, Black Heart Press, Lukas Kalmar, Philippa Shepley Annamaria Kowalsky, Matej 'Retro' Jan (Retronator), Dean Jürges, Phil Dougherty - and my parents: Leo & Angelika Bazant-Hegemark.
