- During Round of 16 match play at the 2024 PBA Shark Championship, the Shark (Kris Prather) faced Sharkfish (AJ Johnson) in an effort to advance to the quarterfinals. Both players wore microphones for us.

I know their patterns are way harder than what most of us usually roll on, but it is still both comforting and kind of funny to hear them say some of the EXACT same stuff you do after ridiculous leaves or shots they let get a little off.
I can watch them bowl non stop.. they are truly amazing!

That was brutal to watch on AJ's part. On the other hand it's inspiring to watch on Prather's part. I know AJ feels he outbowled Prather (and rightly so), but can't forget that Prather aced a few shots when he needed it. Both have amazing ball roll that I wish I had! Seems to me at that level it truly is about whether the pins fall your way or not.
Prather is the only real shark to me

The releases on both of these guys is magic, so smooth and consistent. Great match!
Love Kris’s talk. Seeing the ball run over the 9 pin, I think. Asking it to do stuff. Very interesting

Yeah, I honestly was a little annoyed by the out bowling comment. Like, really, dude?! You legitimately had more than a handful of love taps that didn't really have any business striking. Other than that though it seemed like really good and high scoring action.
Lucky he wasn't bowling on cheetah. 💀
The fact Johnson thinks he outboard Prather shows his issue. He was missing on both lanes by a lot more than Prather ever did.
These dudes are throwing darts! Absolutely lacing that range finder at 40 ft every time! Freakin amazing!

exactly. KP finished game 1 strong, and AJ finished poorly. Game 2, it came down to count and a break that went both ways late. They both got their share of off hits that carried.
First thing I also thought, like no way man come on, it was pretty damn even, just a break or two that’s it. Out bowled was a real stretch of a comment from him. Prob frustration, but still.
Thank god I don't bowl in a league with AJ. That whining would drive me up the wall real fast.
Wait wait wait… 1. How did he get a foul just taken off the board, given he’s always notoriously close to the line. 2. He did not “out bowl” Prather by any measurable aspect.

Are there PBA bowlers with higher ball speed and rev rate then Shark Prather? There sure are. Are there any with a smoother form and consistent ball release than him? I don't think so. His head never moves. His body is relaxed. He never tries to do too much. All he does is to trust his mechanics and to let the ball do the work. Watching him bowl is like watching some kind of perfect bowling machine. If you are going against him, and you are waiting for him to make a mistake, it will be a long wait.
Only 2 i could think of would be mitch hupe, and even tho he does not compete anymore one of my favs Mike Fagan.

maybe my definition of "Shark" and "outbowling" is just way different... because this isn't it. He lost. He didn't get screwed by anything. They both got bad breaks; one made the shots they needed to, the other didn't. That's it.
It should be illegal to wear both a microphone and jewelry. That clicking is insufferable.
