The sight of that yard brings back so many memories ! You come around the building after a fresh snow , no one has plowed and of course there are no lights , yard is full of pot holes big enough to swallow a rig and of course there is no space left to drop your trailer because all the other dropped trailers are so crooked they take up two spots . The fences are half knocked over and if you drop next to them you know they will try to blame you of course. And the trailer you need is buried two rolls back and because all of the trailers are so crooked you have to move 4 other ones to get to yours . After 40 years of driving , I sure miss those days ……………. NOT !!! HAHAHA !
A concrete pad is needed in that area. we did one in our yard and solved the problem totally ........needs to be at least 12" deep... the trailer tandems (tires) are like a drill.
Nothing you can do on a lot like that other than to repair it as needed, and even asphalt will end up that way with trailers turning sharp on it the only difference is that asphalt repair is much more costly. Well done Chris!
As a retired truck driver I will say it for the guys Thanks of course would of been nice if they had gone all the way to the fence . Every place where the driver drop & Hooks the trailers will be pot holes . Always is . It should be paved or concrete but the owners wont pay to have it done and the renters are expected to maintain the grounds . I don't blame them for doing what they do . How ever this appears to be a drop yard for many company's , 53 and 55 ft trailers probably loaded to the gills grossing close to 80,000 with the tandems slid back trailers 3 deep in some spots yeah its going to be a mud pit . Expect plenty of work from them as long as they are there . PS Nice job .
I would have died laughing if Chris had thrown that water over the fence at 2:30. Especially as that white truck turned up seconds later and would have caught him at it.
Question why would try to scrape what base that you have put down for several years just keep adding stone mixed with some cement to help tighten it up some, then grade and compact. What's your thoughts, I am not telling you what to do it just a thought.
The way I see it, they have a simple drainage problem. A 6" perforated pipe from the loading pad to the back of the lot would dry out the base layer, no ??
Hey Chris a place where I worked from the start they put filter fabric and then the stuff that looked like grounded blacktop with something mixed in. I believe they spread It roll bit and then sprayed it . Or sprayed it then Role that the more got wet a turn back in to like black Top do you know what it's called that been work.
Why not dig it down 12" in the holes and fill with 10" rock? Top off with gravel, compact, then finish off with that ABC stone. Then compack it the last time.
My guess is Chis forgot to set the video to Private when he uploaded and everyone with the notification bell turned on got an early viewing of tonight's video! Looks like the video is now Private again as its not showing on his channel.
We didn't get rain, we got a veritable hurricane. Rain fell in inches an hour and then a whole day of screaming wind. Chris mentioned he was headed to Florida for a week. Right where the storms came from. lol
Ken Zodrow your doing it wrong, leaving the water in will soak and result the same sloppy material making the hole, dig down to a hard base and either box it out or scarify the ground and put in new material at optimum moisture for compaction, if you have sun let it bake out and should be nice.
has any one ever made a gravel rake for a skid stear as if thay have i think doing jobs like this one would be easyer than i see most of them done sofare
WHILE WATCHING YOU SPREAD THE GRAVEL thought: He has a bucket that opens up so why not open it a bit like some do when spreading with a dump truck by hooking their chains so the tailgate only opens enough to spread evenly while driving and dumping with the dump partly up. It would take a bit of practice but it should work as well as bumping the dump control while traveling forward and backing up. No??

Sry letsdig but won't take long for them drivers to make ruts again , why cause this reminds me of Strasburg Ohio and their back lot . Same thing one week it's nice and come back and it's got pot holes that a car can fit in , I can understand that they lease the place but what was the owner thinking not to pave it
Hey buddy you're not really fixing them potholes Both holes you could put 100 ton in each and the holes will still be there! The ONLY way to fix them potholes is to cut them >>> OUT

Great day! Two cracking videos thanks Chris. You fully deserve your break in Florida. Cannot wait to see those videos. Take care Graham🇬🇧🇬🇧

Hi Chris when doing potholes like that spread one-two bags of cement in new fill and compact without adding water it will help a lot ciao !

Chris , we all know you care very much about your equipment, but for crying out loud, do something with the scrapers ( wipers ) on that Roller ! LOL
Just one BIG , SAND BOX !!! Looks good Chris
Nice job Chris , I understand the truck company repairing the yard like this once a year .
Getting extra videos out before your week off bro, defiantly no complaints from me. Nice job it turned out to be anyway.
Yes, sir. 2 vids, 1 day

Piece of 4 inch box tube and a old truck tire tread makes a heck of a squeegee.
Wow! Twice in one day! (That’s what she said 😁)

Looks great chris
Roller sure makes a finished product
Needs about twenty ton of what we call modified. 2B stone with the clay left in it. Nearly concrete when it's packed down.
2 in one day great made my day 😎👍👍
I used to drive for cargo transporters for 5 years about 7 yrs ago.
Haul some clay in. Put it in the depressions in the yard.
Level and compact it. THEN put gravel on top of the clay. The renter will be pleased.

Chris on this one how come you dumped the wet muddy gravel over the fence? Couldn’t it have been used it in the yard somewhere?
you need to do the dirt perfect challenge Chris
Отличная работа! Приятно смотреть)
Good job.

Thats the spot where the tandems on the trailers rotate. Ends up digging a hole.
Those big trucks would possibly crush a french drainage system
Yeah i think the truck would crush perf pipe
Well, lets take a look in six month on that yard... ;-)
Put water and mud in neighbors yard, that makes for a funny video.
Hello Chris. You’re pretty handy on everything you operate. Btw that Joe Pay Dirt is kind of a hack. Just sayin. Lol

A lil diesel on the roller with a sprayer.. you not have any rocks stuck and packs better
What are they getting ready to build beside that trucking company
With such a high traffic area Chris why is it you don't use a 5% stabilised base? It would last a little longer than non stabilised base?
if gets hold of asphalt grindings and compact the hell out of it. last rather well.
Is it also possible to slowly open the bucket for spreading the gravel?

Chris I'm curious... Why do you have a yanmar mini instead of the Volvo ecr58?
cus volvo is alot more expensiv I think he explaind it in a old video
You said larger stone under the ABC. What size?3,4,5?
you could do with a scrapper on your roller mate
Chris did we get 2 videos to-day due too you not being able to work because of the heavy rains in your area?

what was the reason for removing the water from the holes i have done both ways and dont notice a difference thanks
