This feels so scripted. It's so blatant that rick and morty sound soulless. Show is so hard to watch now. Bring back roiland, innocent until proven guilty.
Ricks new VA is close enough that for a good 80% of the episode i forgot he was even replaced. Its just when he does aggression and yells that it sounds far off.
I'm going to miss Roiland, however he wasn't directly involved with the show's writing from season 2 onwards, so the quality of the writing shouldn't have changed. The voice for Rick and Morty used now seems to be pretty good, after a few episodes probably will no longer notice any nuances.
The background characters are gonna sound weird though. He voiced like half of them, and based off what I heard from Mr.PoopyButthole, I don’t think they’re gonna put the same effort into casting va’s for them.

Just so you know, the person not involved in the show anymore was not involved in the creative process of the episodes since season 2, so if you don't mind the new voices, then there is literally nothing else to think about that. IMO the new voices are great and you can barely tell the difference🤩
I'll still say JusticeforRoiland whether or not he was/wasn't instrumental to the writing, his contribution, like how he reads a line is instrumental to the jokes landing - the replacements are pretty close but when it comes to screams, yells and the occasional burps and odd pauses it's missing that . . . I didn't laugh once, kudos on Jackman for actually coming to voice

He was never a likable guy and while he was instrumental in making the show what it is today, he is far from being someone irreplaceable or even necessary, so I don't see why make a lot of drama about it.

Ima be honest. Id bet money if no one knew about the behind the scenes thing, that no one would have batted an eye that it was a different voice actor for them. Because their voices now from last season are much less noticeable than a LOT of animated shows from their first to second seasons. Like... take the simpsons for instance. Dan Castilinetta from season 1 of the simpsons to even season 2 or 3 is wildly WILDLY different than this change in rick and morty from season 6 to 7. Characters voices change a lot and this is a very very small amount of change all things considered.
Dan Harmon has a team of writers from community with him in Rick and Morty iirc, and one of them is pro incest, he actually pushed for a pro incest episode on community complete with a PSA of it's ok to marry your cousin at the end of the episode lol, might explain the incest jokes.
Quite honestly the voices aren't bad like when it comes out to Morty his voice is almost a one to one just a little bit higher but it's like with Rick it's like kind of like he's diet. what's missing from Rick's voice is the gruffness, but besides that, it's pretty spot on.

I’m as much of a Predator STAN as Kacee so automatically this is one of my favorite episodes of the show because they got both HUGH JACKMAN AND THE PREDATOR!!! 2 of my favorite people I grew up watching.
Great review, I enjoyed the premiere episode as well. Rick's voice was a tiny bit off but it mostly sounded good. I loved seeing the return of old characters and the random appearance by Hugh Jackman was great.
Charges where dropped, happens all the time even to folks who did the crime. He also sent while not illegal , highly inappropriate mesaages to children on discord. You dont need a conviction to not be okay with that.

For the umpteenth time: roiland wasnt found innocent, the charges were dropped. There's a huge difference there. He very likely did some of what was accused, but there was not enough evidence to convict beyond a reasonable doubt, or the victim(s) did not want to suffer the trauma of a trial.

Yeah, Justin Roiland has (deliberately) barely had any creative input in the show for years. His last writing credit was for part of Morty's Mind Blowers in season 3. It seems that he rebelled against Dan Harmon's efforts to raise the quality of the show in season 2, and pretty much stopped turning up in the writers' room at some point during season 3. He reportedly did most of his vocal work from home, without any direction.The new voices are OK, so good riddance to the guy as far as I'm concerned.

Hot take - the episode was pretty lame. I really enjoy the series, but this episode was dull. It's just like a bunch of family guy references. Hugh Jackman!? Predator!? Nothing inherently funny with that and they didn't really do anything with that. Also the setup of a 'beloved' character going through divorce, can't contact his son, battling alcoholism, hiring someone to stalk his ex-wife...that would be tough for anyone to make funny and it shows because whatever was supposed to be funny landed pretty flat imo. Moreover, there wa no side-story in this episode to help carry things along. I figured at some point we would get Morty doing something with other characters, but it really was just a singular plot focused episode. A lot of Rick, little to no Morty. Their only interaction was early on, brief, and was boring. I got a few chuckles from Bird Person's lines, but beyond that this sucked hard. Hoping for better quality episodes going forward.

I figured at some point we would get Morty doing something with other characters, but it really was just a singular plot focused episode. A lot of Rick, little to no Morty. Their only interaction was early on, brief, and was boring.
I got a few chuckles from Bird Person's lines, but beyond that this sucked hard. Hoping for better quality episodes going forward.
Nothin' but low effort humor. Hated it, but glad others seem to be enjoying it so far.
Smh Anthony's hair 😂🤣 that's to funny not to look at and he definitely ain't the new Rick more like a Rick knock off gone wrong 😅 and who don't love Rick & Morty 🎉🎉🎉 it's great
