What an incredible video! The Stream Deck Studio is such an exciting piece of kit and it's great to see Elgato breaking into the production space, while still keeping it affordable. 10/10 video. Would put 3 in my rack.

Wow that's a really awesome video Jeff! Definitely pro level tools there in terms of how it can up your game, and really enjoyed the way you broke it down to more simple terms. Entertaining and insightful as always! :)

Appreciate the feedback! I reckon I could program one of these to land a 747 in MS flight sim!

I actually 3D printed a housing for my streamdeck and a raspberry PI with a PoE HAT and the Companion iso installed on it. Basically the exact thing from this video in a less sexy form format. I currently run two of these (1 in my studio and 1 in my mobile demo kit) but will definitely not building a 3rd one now that this is available.

I love this! I’ve been spending some time in the Bitfocus Slack channels, and I’m constantly impressed by the communities creativity when it comes to housings and homebrew engineering. I’d love to get a 3D printer but I’m afraid it’s a huge rabbit hole!

@@FitForPurposeTech With the bambulab being so reliable and affordable it's much less than it was a couple of years ago. I use mine for all sorts of small customization like an ethercon to RJ-45 adapter or a custom 1RU connection panel for a USB power supply, or... It's super useful and a lot of fun!

Server hosted, network connected buttons. Oh the possibilities....

I don't do enough (or any) streaming to warrant this, though it'd be great for a podcast. But I actually really want this for my home lab so I can set up quick controls instead of having to switch a bunch of things or needing to remote in. Like, bam, start this game server. Restart home assistant. Restart all docker containers. Reset connections on other pcs in the house to Nas services. If your switch has remote management capabilities you can probably even set up automations for that as well.

I can see your creative juices flowing, and that’s literally what this device is meant to do - empowering not just streamers, but creators like yourself!

Informative as always Jeff! Your videos always make the complicated simple! Or simpler! 🤩
Not gonna lie, the eye contact at the end is such a power move too. 😎

Awesome video jeff. like you said in the video it might not be a product for everyone, but i definitely see huge benefits from this if implemented in the right setup!

Thanks! Yeah, it’s a pretty specialised piece of hardware, but I do also think that there might be some ingenious ways that people integrate it into their lives!

The team behind Bitfocus is small but super friendly, and there are so many talented people in their Slack that build connections and even STL files for custom mounts. I’ve had fun nerding out with this thing!

I don’t expect that it will be too expensive, but the option to run Companion will still be there 😀

Nice Video - thanks!! But just to clarify:
Even with a ‚regular‘ StreamDeck and the Companion-Software You CAN control a multitude of programs on several different Computers or other devices. Although Buttons might be even easier or more straightforward at some of these tasks: It is possible also with the ‘cheaper’ hardware and the free software. 💪🏻

More than one way to skin a cat, indeed! The Stream Deck Studio does make it easier to integrate into a professional studio environment, however, with its rack mount and Ethernet. In fact, you’ll find many studios will work with both pieces of hardware!

With the security features I understand the price point behind this, otherwise, all of this can be made with companion (to some extent)

I've really been enjoying the free beta of Buttons so far, the canvas features are something that you can't easily duplicate in Companion too.

can the usb-c at the front power another streamdeck studio?

    • @FitForPurposeTech
      @FitForPurposeTech  7 дней назад

Great question! I don’t believe it can power it using just that port, though, because the front port delivers 5V 500ma, and the SDS isn’t a bus powered stream deck - it requires 9V 3A in the PD port.

Considering that you have to pay for the software independantly, for that price, you can pay someone to build you that thing with waaay more buttons

@@FitForPurposeTech Thats like saying "yeah, the seats come with the car, and will always be free to use, only the heated part needs a subscription" imo.
I mean its an elgato part, you pay ~100% elgato tax. Not long and there will be competition at half the price

@@jlmpc8733I own and use multiple elgato products daily, I pay no subscriptions or anything past the device price. My mk1 stream decks are doing great.
