this has to be one of my favorite videos. a lot of people are confused. but its your average hero comes to town, falls in love with the villian's woman, is defeated, then goes on a personal journey to find inner strength to beat the villian and win the woman. what really makes this great is the mix match of 70's to 80's refrences on sci-fi, cheesy westerns and kung-fu movies. if your old enough, they you should have instantly spotted the battlestar galactica robot. not to mention the buck rogers space outfit the girl wears.
Hmmmm... yeahhh umm, NO. I was thinking along the other lines according to the whole antidisastablishmentarinism agenda (abolish shadow-government-corruption), like the rest of the alblum. Yeahh, i'll have to go with that one.. Perhaps, you should look past your materialistic perception on reality and tune into the actual MEANING, not what was seen.
jeff b actually you only decided to focus on that point, I did not think that I had to spell all of that out so I summed it up to villain. every thing else that I mentioned was correct as well. if you did not grow up in the 70's and 80's (like Muse) a lot of the "good vs evil" symbolism of that time would go clean over your head.
A rare example of elevated art, this is more than a rock band playing a song. This is imagination skillfully produced so well that it's hard to ignore. Plus, this is also a kickass rock band.
hands down one of the best music videos ever made. It's artistic and stylized in its own way while also parodying spagetti westerns and the sci-fi genre
My friend took me to what I thought was a 30 Seconds to Mars concert. It turned out it was 30 Seconds to Mars opening for Muse. I only could recall a few Muse songs off the top of my head, Madness and Dig Down being most prominent. I thought they were a techno/alternative band so when they started with Dig Down, I thought it would be a mellow techno vibe. Then, a drill sergeant came on and told the entire crowd we were psycho killers and in unison the entire crowd responded "Ay Sir". The basses, wielding a double neck bass, took the strong power stance I've ever scene, and I caught the most wonderful surprise of my life as my face was melted off for 2 continuous hours.
BEST. LIVE. BAND. EVER. They play every show like they're trying to murder the audience with sound waves. The first time I saw them, I thought my heart would explode.
I saw these guys at the Big Day Out in Melbourne over 10 year ago and holy shit did they kill the set. I wasn't a huge fan before that, but they just played one of the best live sets (besides Tool probably) ever.
4:32 Me everytime listening to this epic song :D I think that years, decades, centuries will pass but humanity will never forget this song, or at least I'm going to remember it in one hundred years.
The coolest music video ever fucking made. Anyone who watched Mystery Science Theater 3000 or just has an appreciation for horrible old movies (as the band clearly does, as well as the brilliant director) this is like fucking crack to just watch.
Was in my first car crash with my dad driving my mother brother and sister last sunday while this was playing as my brother had the aux. It was a family classic song, been listening to it for eons. This video was one of the first music videos I watched when I was 6, it's going to have a different feeling from now. Been stuck in my head for the past few days. Really didn't help the encore was playing, 5:28 is roughly when the impact happened. Car overtook at 84mph and aquaplaned and span all over the road before doing a 360 spin because they slammed on the brakes 10s after overtaking us. We t-boned them at 39mph, never felt a force so strong. Fortunately both in very modern cars with the airbags and crumple zones doing their job.
This video, the album cover, and the song are so good encapsulating the feel of the entire album. There's this weird, futuristic, western war thing going on it's all the elements just work so well together I love it
***** MTV still shows music videos but not as much as they did 30 years ago. The only videos they play now are really bad rap and pop we all love to hate - and the only air times are in the morning!
Why would anyone watch MTV anyways? If you have the choice, either to watch any video YOU want to see at any given time (youtube, internet, whatever) or to let some tv person choose what videos to watch and when (TV), isn't the choice pretty simple? There is no need for MTV to exist as a music video channel today, and that's why they no longer show music videos more than a small portion of the day, and why they still do that I have no idea, but I can't imagine it will last. Hell, I can't imagine I'd watch MTV today even if they had good music on 24/7, just as little as I listen to the radio compared to spotify. Why even complain?
Yeah, cool video. But, even for argument's sake, let's say this is the best video. Before this came out, another video was the best. Before that best video, another video was best. Following your logic, we should never have made more than one video, in all of man kind's existence. It's an infinite loop. You shouldn't stop innovation due to the reason that you can't improve on it, because everything can be improved on. It is a cool video, I'll give you that.
+Tyler Hayman-Harrison Yes there were other bests before this video, but none can surpass the quality of this video. The bar is just set to a level that can not be reached by filthy mortals. Just like how Shrek was the dankest Anime before Cory in the House, which is the pinnacle of Anime/Memes.
I cannot believe I've never really "gotten into" this band before. I've heard a lot of their stuff before but now I'm in love. ❤ Vocal melodies are on point and addicting.
Being able to say my mum is the female protagonist in one of the best Muse videos riding a unicorn shooting laser guns will always be the coolest thing I can say about myself... You go mama!
I was obsessed with Muse as a teenager. My first concert ever was a Muse arena show back when The Resistance first dropped, and they were touring for that album. I was blown away. It was transcendent being in a stadium full of others who clearly seemed to be pretty legit fans of all their albums and had the same passion and familiarity, and they played their hearts out and sounded great. They were genuinely great live performers and the lights were really cool as well. I personally found The Resistance to be the last album of theirs I connected with, I'm just not into any album after that. But Showbiz through Resistance changed the course of my musical life and I cherish that concert memory.
My favorite song from Muse! "No one's gonna take me alive Time has come to make things right You and I must fight for our right You and I must fight to survive" Man that is my favorite part of the song! Yeeeeeaaaaaah!🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎

Libertarians actually value rights very highly, and those are the basis for everyone to be free. Law of the jungle is not freedom, it is survival of the fittest with no rights. Only the dimmest of minds could equate freedom to anarchy. Freedom and anarchy are NOT compatible. So yeah, you are right. Fuck authoritarians and their unconstitutional laws.
Mentally Hilarious rights can only be maintain by a form of authority. liberty is not something that appears naturally with no treat. it can not be taken for granted too. we must constantly look after. freedom is an illusion if we think that it must include no impellents. libertarians and anarchists share the same common problem...a "scale up" problem to be implemented at a country level. even the fierce libertarian must face the fact that a coercive system must emerge from the mulitple individual interactions to ensure rights and freedom without abuses. anarchist in the other hand seek through egalitarian cooperation and sharing wealth of any kind in a perspective of common good...what is mising in some libertarians discourses. I will say that the "dimmest of minds" could speak of values and simultaneously have no idea of what virtue is.
I was saying that "structurally" speaking. I wasn't appreciative about the state and capitalism. Wars will surely not stop happening during my lifetime.

i dont know why...i really didnt want to like this when i first heard Muse but even i have to admit it made me look up. This songs great! Awesome riff and i like the 'Sweet'-esque vocal harmonies ^_^
The cool thing about this song is how classical grounded it is. How the key changes through the song and fanilly collapses to the same key. Its one of those extremely rare occusations where classical prinsiples are practicly used in a song. Its ingenious! Most people won't notice it, but it doesn't matter. Its there, and we love it for what it is!
+Rafael Romero Lauro The point of this video is that it made this way totally in purpose, to make no sense, which was funny and original back in the day. Now a days the problem is that videos actually try to make sense and they simply fail badly.
+Rafael Romero Lauro It makes sense if you ask me. Knights of Cydonia is a Western themed song with the trumpet and horse galloping sounds. So the video is about a space cowboy who fights a badguy for his woman with his karate skills and...yeah okay maybe it doesn't make a lot of sense.
I'm not, quite frankly. Her "Host" novel was much more mature and well-written, "Twilight" was an intellectual torture though, I only made it through the first two books. The books are still 10 times better than the movie, I couldn't even finish the first one.
'Don't waste your time or time will waste you' .... one of my favourite lines ever
Ikr!!
I hope listening to Muse songs isn't wasting time lol
I hope listening to Muse songs isn't wasting time lol
I hope listening to Muse songs isn't wasting time lol
I hope listening to Muse songs isn't wasting time lol
One cannot truly experience this song without hearing it live
True
agreed.
So true
+Harry Francis So true! I didn't really care for this song at first, but now I've heard it live, it's one of my favorites
Yes!

Or, to summarize, it's kitch as fuck and a very good parody of 80's movies
I did, yet, I'm pretty young

This song is nothing more than a masterpiece

Garrett Best story ever! Actually dying

BEST. LIVE. BAND. EVER. They play every show like they're trying to murder the audience with sound waves. The first time I saw them, I thought my heart would explode.
Garrett same with rock im park festival this year!
Nai Nai I saw them at Austin City Limits fest in 2010 amazing live show it blew my mind and made me feel like I was tripping

It's not a real movie. It's shot for the video.
Knights of Cydonia at concert : best moment of my life
Kill Bill meets Star Wars meeting The Dark Tower.
The Dark Tower is fucking amazing.
Don't forget Kung Fury. I really got those vibes from this.
Kimbo Jr. All I read is the short story The Little Sisters of Eluria so far. Need to pick up the real series.
AlluMan96 I'll put it on my watch list, must be crazy.
Hahaha true! My first thought was: this is The Dark Tower mixed with some Tarantino movie.

Fallout New Vegas: The Movie
This has to be the best music video ever made.
Was I the only one who could never passed this fucking song in Guitar Hero 3 in expert? lol
This song... I barely beat it on medium. So damn difficult.

I saw these guys at the Big Day Out in Melbourne over 10 year ago and holy shit did they kill the set. I wasn't a huge fan before that, but they just played one of the best live sets (besides Tool probably) ever.

4:32 Me everytime listening to this epic song :D
I think that years, decades, centuries will pass but humanity will never forget this song, or at least I'm going to remember it in one hundred years.
+Enrique Shrinking lol true though
I watched this stoned and I am completely rethinking my existence.
Unicorns.
Edward Dahlstedt I watched this sober and I think I'm stoned now.
I wish stoned meant the ones where you get rocks thrown at you.
Too bad it's not. in fact I am going to get stoned right now.
Edward Dahlstedt Because you smoke to much or because this video is bonkers?
Wow dude!
Might be one of the best songs of the last 10 years so incredible. Makes me feel like I'm on a train going 300 miles per hour!
This is definitely Muse's best song by far.
I would pay to see a movie like this
one of the greatest guitar solos I have ever heard! 4:12
One of the weirdest videos I've seen but the song is fantastic!!
This video, the album cover, and the song are so good encapsulating the feel of the entire album. There's this weird, futuristic, western war thing going on it's all the elements just work so well together I love it
I remember this song being on MTV when they actually played good music and not the crap music you hear and see nowadays on there
Instead of "Knights of Cydonia" all "Minaj TV" (emphasize the M should stand for a certain crappy rapper) is playing right now is nothing but crap...
You mean to say MTV actually plays music videos in between all that Cribs and Teen Mom bullshit?
***** MTV is shit now. both of them.
***** MTV still shows music videos but not as much as they did 30 years ago. The only videos they play now are really bad rap and pop we all love to hate - and the only air times are in the morning!

Deathstroke's Channel of Random! Right
Lol
When ur from Texas or the Pliedes Duuuuhhhhhh
so... if I understand your comment right, Cowboys, CD disks also an unicorn, (and) something that looks like a robot is more logical than your life?
@@bdifh1199 yep
the greatest movie never made
Why do people keep making music videos when the best music video ever has been made and none can surpass it?
Ok I'll bite, what video is that?
Or are you referring to this one as the best one?
EPIC SAWIKI Yes. This video is really pretty awesome.

I cannot believe I've never really "gotten into" this band before. I've heard a lot of their stuff before but now I'm in love. ❤ Vocal melodies are on point and addicting.
There needs to be a cover of this on Westworld.

Awww spit that's dope yo

The look on the face of the 2 women at 2:01 is what solidified this as the best video I've seen in years lol I love this!!!
thank you sir/mam :)

MUSE IS A GREAT BAND !!
Still the best Muse song
Actually undisclosed desires is the best
Hysteria takes it for me, but this is surely number 2.
Hysteria is amazing
+Caio Graciano hysteria is pretty damn good you can't deny it
Actually second to Stockholm syndrome ;)
You know what, let's just face it, Muse's entire catalogue is badass.
Those are some pretty sweet kung fu moves at the start.
I love absolutely every dumb thing about this video.
Heard this performed live..Amazing!!! Bought tears to my eyes...
Can this please be a full length feature film.
It already is. It's called Cowboys and Aliens. Ha ha :P
Check out El Topo by Alejandro Jodorowsky. It's a surrealist western, soo trippy

I know, it would piss of every starwars fan on the planet. And it would be way too different.

I was saying that "structurally" speaking. I wasn't appreciative about the state and capitalism.
Wars will surely not stop happening during my lifetime.
still one of the best song ever 💜 love you muse
This song lasts forever, that's the best kind of song
11 years later, still one of the most epic songs I've ever heard.
What I think I do when I play Red Dead Redemption
But really you're lassoing hookers and putting them on train tracks.

When you think about it, this is one of the greatest songs of all time.
I don't know what did i just watched, but it's fucking awesome
SL Lee I don't know if you are joking but this is actually the best 2000's band
SL Lee imagine being in your early teens and seeing this.
And here I was thinking that today's music videos didn't make sense
+Bailey Goshorn like wtf was up with Meghan trainors' "No" music video. It just made no sense
+Rafael Romero Lauro The point of this video is that it made this way totally in purpose, to make no sense, which was funny and original back in the day.
Now a days the problem is that videos actually try to make sense and they simply fail badly.
+Aphorism89 I see what you mean but this video did it in a way that sorta was relevant to the actual song
+Kieran Schafer it's close enough tho
Man has vocals ❤
"And how can we win when fools can be kings." Powerful message even till this day
🥃🍺
This gets me pumped up 😆
Guitar hero 3 ♥
Love this video- Tells a whole story without one word of dialogue
This looks like the type of Western movie India would make.
still a better love story than twilight
says 'Aero, the Flightless Bird'
Cozza Wiltshire would you rather me fly
The irony here - twilight's author's favourite band is Muse.
Though i don't remember where the hell i know this from.
Seviexe Maybe are you a fan?
I'm not, quite frankly. Her "Host" novel was much more mature and well-written, "Twilight" was an intellectual torture though, I only made it through the first two books.
The books are still 10 times better than the movie, I couldn't even finish the first one.
If you're watching in 2020 or later then my friend you have a great music taste.
Thank
i will never tire of this song, never...

That's the joke.
I think I figured it out they’re the reason the sherif got extra mad
