    I am a sufferer of AS and this presentation was the most thorough description of my condition that I have watched. It covered my life and conditions very thoroughly. It is impossible for me to sleep flat. I think that rheumatologists should have this video because my diagnosis was missed for many years.
    The doctors denied my complaints for years because they did not understand the relation even though I carried the HLA-B27 gene.

      I am glad you got the right diagnosis in the end.. this is a very common problem for many AS patients unfortunately.. to be so delayed to get the diagnosis

    I have the tandem sciatica pain but it doesn’t stay in one side for three months, it only stay on left side but then next day it’s on other side for a couple minutes and back to the right side for most of the time but also both sides at a time every day just more on the left ! These symptoms started on the left for the first two months then the pain went to the right with left side pain at the same time! And some times both hips hurt! I’m waiting for Rheumatology appointment! It is this consistent with AS

      This is only suggestive.. but, alone, does not make the diagnosis of course.. Any patient has to fulfill the disease criteria before we can make a diagnosis .. Examining the patient and doing some imaging studies are important here

    Thank you si much for this tutoring this masters class, on A.S. i do have all of this symptoms, and at first i was diagnosed with Lupus and fribromialgia, then Lupus went into remission, so now Doctors said is only osteoarthritis, but i had the feeling it was something else, because the eye probles, the Rib pain, the lungs and heart problems, plus all of those other symptoms attacks me every single day, now i finally see the light......is this desease curable?

    • @onlinemedicalconsultations9695
      @onlinemedicalconsultations9695  8 месяцев назад

      It's remissionable.. meaning that, with appropriate treatment, it can get into a state of complete remission with no more symptoms hopefully 🌹🌹

    Thank you Dr for this explanations. My 12 year old son has just been diagnosed of Ankylosing spondylitis after suffering from this consistent back, knee and ankle pain for over 18 months. In his case however, the pain has never ceased and no pain killer has ever given him relief, at some points, he couldn't even walk so we use wheelchair, this has happened about 3 times and may last for up to 5 weeks. Currently his blood pressure is high and he is having recurring headaches. Can it still be Ankylosing spondylitis?

      No sure.. this level of severity does not match ankylosing spondylitis really.. At the same time you did not mention any details about his symptoms.. Could you kindly be more specific about that? Where exactly is the pain.. timing of the pain.. what relieves it.. activities or meds..

    Can anyone tell me does ankylosing spondylitis flare up with day to day activities and working? I am currently waiting to see a rhuematologist, my symptoms include, sore feet, sore Achilles and calf's, my knees ache. Got a lot of pain in my buttocks and my hip/pelvis and lower back, my shoulders are sore when lifting my arms, forearms at the elbow are sore with limited movement, hands and fingers ache with less grip. Had x-rays in most places everything clear apart from my neck which been told I have cervical spondylosis. Got a vitamin D defiency but been taking vit d for 5 months no change in how I feel if anything feel worse. I am always in pain but when I finish my job everyday I am extremely stiff and my whole body is crying in pain. My mental health is suffering. I'm only 44 and male. P it's hard to describe how I feel to people because on the outside I look fine

      Dear Davy... sorry to know about all those pains.. but you do not describe ankylosing spondylitis.. this is not ankylosing spondylitis..
      One of the autoimmune arthritis disorders for example is one possibility that deserves consideration here
      There are other possibilities too that could be sorted out when you provide more details to your rheumatologist..
      Hope you get a diagnosis and good reassurance from your rheumatologist soon..
      All the best..

      @@onlinemedicalconsultations9695 His symptoms started with the lower back pain which became worse after about 3 months when he noticed that he couldn't bend smoothly anymore. Xray and MRI did not pick anything but an orthopedic Surgeon suspected Spine Tb. At this point we noticed the pains at the knees and heels too. By the 4th month he completely couldn't stand or walk so he was on wheelchair for almost 6 weeks. He took those Tb for 9 months along with physiotherapy but not much changed because each time he tries to play in school he ends up on a wheelchair for several weeks. 2 other MRIs still showed nothing until a 4th one at the sacrolitic joint showed he has bilateral sacrolaitis. At this point we saw the rheumatologist for a second time and he diagnosed Ankylosing spondylitis. HLA B27 is negative, ESR and CRP always comes out normal but the pains are consistent currently the entire back is very tender to touch, the pains are getting worse by the day. Its so painful to get out of bed in the morning but gets better after a hot bath. However unlike all I have read about AS, his pains do not get better with excercise instead it gets worse. He can't stand for more than 5 mins without complaining of pains and he can't sit for long either. He only feels a bit comfortable lying down.
