I'm not sure who decides the editing is appropriate on some of these highlight videos but they're extremely inconsistent. Some weeks they're amazing, and other weeks (like this week) I'm left scratching my head wondering why we cut away from a good battle for the lead to show a restart and not even show why there was a caution in the first place. That happened like three or four times just in this video.
It was a disaster!
NASCAR recruits 65 yr old new paper editors to make video edits and run their RUclips account. The need to take lessons from Formula 1 on these items.
@@T-N-TRacing I was gonna say damn NASCAR, if you need a lifelong fan that actually understands what we want to see as a highlight reel and know how to edit videos, hit ya boy up lol
Honestly I'm glad someone else noticed..
Right? I was watching a nice battle and someone had a run. An extra five seconds would have been perfect and boom, restart.... um, ok, what happened.
Watkins Glen is the best road course on the schedule no doubt 🙌
…and doesn’t get the L❤️VE it deserves…
Meanwhile, they’re adding a Chicago street course with terrible sight lines and a lackluster “fan” base…🤷🏻♂️
I have to agree, for the past 10 years, going all the way back to the Kesolowski vs Ambrose and even beyond that, The Glen has consistently put up great and amazing racing, with a perfect touch and inch of drama to leave people talking about multiple stories, and this is coming from a guy who is typically not a huge fan of Road Courses!
@@twoblacklabs904 Taking away a date at Road America.........terrible idea 🙄
I love it. So much banging and rubbing. It's better than just watching them go round and round IMHO
Digging the energy of the radio style broadcast. The tosses back and forth are real smooth. Takes coordination to do that right.
I don't know how the drivers feel, but for TV watchers, Watkins Glen is one of the best race tracks in the world. Seeing these heavy and relatively under powered cars dart around like Indycars is highly entertaining! Too bad we don't have Montoya out there w/ that crazy Villeneuve and these guys. I guess the wrecks and fights would go way up though.
You need to watch V8 Supercars. It's this every weekend...twice.
Montoya and Jeff Gordon once had an altercation in Turn 1 at The Glen.. sort of. :)
Neither driver was lifting going into that chicane. It's just what happened and it was entertaining as hell.
Entertaining but heartbreaking if that was your favorite driver. Both drivers were doing their job but the 54 is to blame for causing the wreck and he needs to be publicly shamed.
@@ToIsleOfView By racing etiquette, it's Byron's fault, not Gibbs'. Gibbs was fully alongside Byron. Byron is supposed to leave him a car width of space to the inside in that circumstance. Bryon instead pinched Gibbs and ran him completely over the inside curb and Gibbs lost it and took them both out. It's really no different a situation than someone getting hooked after squeezing someone into the wall on corner exit at an oval.
Gibbs did not give, Byron had the racing line and Gibbs stayed on his door, which pushed him far enough left that his left rear tire caught the rumble strip, upset the car and took them both out.
Now, to me it gets in the grey when you have an xfininity driver who’s in the points race banging doors with a cup driver that will race in a completely different style car the following day. But that’s a discussion for another time
I love Watkins Glen. So much banging and rubbing and spinning out. It's way more fun than just watching them go round and round IMHO
you seriously gonna call this unexpected winner
Because he came from last place start, I guess.
@@mikenorris4966 Larson starts last, just to make it a fair race. 😄
@@xxxYYZxxx wym? He was 4 seconds off the 17 and 54 all day. He wasn’t close to race winning speed. He only won because 54 and 17 spun each other. Let’s not act like he drove from back to front in 10 laps and led 72/82 laps.
@@hawyee0418 he did drive from the back to the front but not in 10 laps lol
I love the bagman’s delivery, fantastic voice, wish tv would hire more ex-radio men
This was a very entertaining race. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's 🏁 🏎
Looking forward to the Hendrick boys again, and Kimi!
Ol boy Reddick ⌚️
Now this is a great road course !!!
Radio-style is 10/10
Doggy is better.
Man I wish Barney Hall was still around to take part of the radio style call in the booth
YES!
Mrn commentator’s make the broadcast that much better!
Man both Hendrick entry cars were so strong today 💪🏻.
Kyle Larson was in a JRMotorports car…
That's weird, Hendrick only fielded one car.
@@pv2xeek no Byron 17 and Larson 88 both Hendrick Xfinity cars fielded by JRM… today at the Glen.
@@Jabba.Da.Hutt_ 17 was a Hendrick entry, 88 was a JR Motorsports entry.
@@ChiChiWoo I’m sure everything under the hood tho was Hendrick.
Amazing race, cant wait for tonight!!
Wow…do you think William Byron’s got any “kind” words for Ty Gibbs tonight? That was one hell of a wipeout…
It's rubbing. Rubbings racing.
probably not lol he got cleaned
Hope Ty takes him out of the cup race
This race was so exciting. I enjoyed it a lot
This is my favorite road course
Racing will always be awesome for me. Carry on brothers and sisters. Racing brings people together. It doesn't get any better than that.
Interesting race very excited for cup tomorrow
Larson absolutely BOWLED the first place and second place cars into that corner. That boy can wheel a racecar.
Your Damn right he can!!
such a good race
Hard racing, thats the right name for it!
WHAT A RACE MAN🔥🤩
Good race 🏁
Another top 5 for Gragson. Thumbs up
thumbs up to that congrads!!
“unexpected winner”
are you sure?
No other racer like him. Back to front in two different features this week
Xfinity road courses are the best
Brilliant push move by Larson
I was watching the race on RUclipsTV and like half through it, my subscription cancelled😭 Love the races🏎
I love Watkins Glen
What’s with not showing the cautions? Like i kept seeing restarts but never saw why there had to be a restart.
Larson is a very smart driver hands down one of the best in my opinion
The move he made to push the 17 was a calculated
Move
Very well done Larson 👍
Agreed, no way Gibbs was going to give up the win that easy after banging doors all race
Agreed, Larson knew that if he sent Byron into the corner with Ty next to him it was definitely gonna get messy and man he played that perfectly. Probably why he backed off a it a little farther from the corner.
1000 IQ move, like he was playing a video game
8:20 there gonna get aggressive!... AGGRESSIVE GOES AROUND!!!!
Lol he wanted to say bus stop and combined that with both cars haha ha
New to following nascar. The supra cars (like the one driven by Gibbs) seem a bit odd like they are 2 different cars from the front and back. But in a way they look quite charming.
Also I thought Kyle Larson drove in the main cup series rather than this one? Does he do both?
some active cup drivers drive in xfinity on a part time basis
Xfinity is so good man
Gibbs spins out.Beautiful
This was the most entertaining Nascar race I’ve seen in a while. Ty Gibbs might be the grandson of Coach Gibbs but damn he held his own and showed he can legit drive for sure today.
I personally thought it was exciting I'm sure it's going to fuel Byron more for Sunday, can't argue both we're fighting for a win. William can walk away with a track record. Go get em' William!
Lol Larson knew what he was doing there
Larson, who qualified 4th, but started at the back, then "Seas Parted" and ended up winning that race in his JR Motorsports debut.
Another great win for Chevrolet
Not really a surprise when Larsen wins.
And Dale junior said he’ll yeah I knew I choose the right person to run the 88 Hendricks 😂
How do the stages work?
At the end of every stage, the top ten finishers get stage points which count towards your points total (I think) and it works like this
1st. 10 points
2nd. 9 points
3rd. 8 points
4th. 7 points
5th. 6 points
6th. 5 points
7th. 4 points
8th. 3 points
9th. 2 points
10th. 1 point
At the time I was wondering if they could take the esses flat Allgaier wrecked. It appears they can’t take the esses flat
Let's go
Good racing, but Ty Gibbs is at fault. He should have held back into that chicane and made his move afterwards. There was NO way he was going to hold that first cut into the chicane from the outside.
Neither driver was going to back out, nor should they.
@@ericnordhoff159 2 wide into that chicane wasn't going to work, but people today think it's great to see drivers race like they're in a video game.
If anyone is at fault, it’s Byron, didn’t give enough room for Ty in the chicane
@@nickchana8573 You expect the leader to alter his path in order to allow the second place car to take the position? LMFAO
@@dcaseng I’ll rephrase, Byron coulda given a little more room but it’s just a racing deal
“Suprise winner” more like upset winner I was hoping Sammy was the “suprise winner”
That Sammy dude gets to add outrunning Allmendinger on a road course restart to win a stage and grabbing a top 5 xfinity finish to his résumé. Very nice day for him.
Great job, Kyle Larson!🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
My current favorite driver winning for my all-time favorite driver.
" Y A W N "
I really like nascar one day I plan to know the 500 miles of Daytona
I had money on Larson ... this was exhilarating to watch
So using the track in some of the corners is optional.
I think the track limits are just the blue barriers. Everything else is kosher LMAO
I've been a Larson fan since I first saw him race for Target showing brains and Tallent but this race was sublime.
I wish my grandpa had a race team some people they got it made
Yeah jr motorsports won again!🐐🐐😍
Love seeing that 88 win
Not a jrm car
Actually the 88 is a part time jrm entry, to go with the 4 full time entries
Instead of a highlight reel it should be called a restart reel! Just shows restart after restart! We don’t even know why they had a caution for over half of them. I don’t get it
This is the first time I enjoyed nascar, I like the direction they're going in, can't stand the oval races where they just constantly punt each other off, I like indy car oval races though but I've never got the traditional Nascar other than I'm sure being at a race in real life is fun as hell
I enjoy both but NASCAR on Road Courses have been getting better over the past few years!
i cant get usa channel so i cant watsh the races any more thanks nascar
You don't cut away from a lead battle like that, at least give it 3 seconds after a sentence ends
Even f1's monaco direction does better, and that's pretty bad by itself
Gibbs clipped the graas on corner 2 of the bus stop, causing him and byron to spin
Larson baby!
There are 2 drivers who spun just before the chequered flag when Larson won. Who were they?
Ty Gibbs and William Byron
@@RACINGUS95 are you sure? I think it was a no10 car and a yellow car. 9:08
It was just racing, and it was better than Allmindinger crashing everyone for a win at the end. Ty could have settled for second, Byron knew the deal going into the turn, it was only 2 ways it was going to in. Personally I am Ty, the hell with 2nd, and yes If I wasn't blessed to be who I am, I would have settled for 2nd. It was a good race, and there were too many Nascar stars in it, to not be aggressive, .
Ty is racing for the Xfinity championship I hope Ty takes him out of the cup race early
@@billgibson100 No yesterday was yesterday, Ty needs to not wreck in cup race and bring home a top 10. He knew he had 2nd, but 2nd was just first loser lol,he wasn't thinking about infinity points, but maybe he should have.
Most of the highlights are re-starts, guess there wasn’t any other exciting racing happening throughout the race.
Gibbs didn't entirely cause the contact spinning him and Byron, but it was stupid the way he tried to outbreak Byron when he had the preferred line and was out ahead. Of course he won't make that kind of move in Cup, but it happening here doesn't excuse it.
You're kidding right? Gibbs will make a dumb move any time his ego thinks he has to. He sure learned from the rest of the JGR "takers, but not givers" stable. Learned fast, but wrong teachers.
The dif between the Glen and Indy road is like nite and day. The wide runoff surfaces make for tremendous speed and the drivers have to respect each other because at those speeds. I still dislike the shortcut over the shoulder-curbs because it invites an out-of-control race car plowing recklessly into the car ahead of them.
Indy infield was designed by Tilke in the late 90s, The Glen was designed by the same guy as Mosport (CTMP) back in the 50s. Two totally different courses
This is the race which made me a fan of Byron!
Gibbs strikes again
No helm no fight!
I think Ty expected to be given more room there considering he was given and gave that space throughout the race. Just an unfortunate racing incident.
It doesn't matter how much room you are given when you need more by driving over your head. No patience. There was plenty of time for another run at him in a better place. Ease up 5% entering that turn, he still comes out side by side still with a chance for a win or at worst, a 2nd to someone not running for points.
Classic Ty. People need to stop racing him clean or with any respect all race long knowing he's going to junk both of you at the end of the race. Every. Single. Time.
Wow, Ty is becoming the Chastain of Xfinity, he and Byron had been banging all day, Ty needs to think of the big picture, He will not ever win a championship pushing a bad situation.
He was thinking big picture. It's why he sent it in. There was an opportunity there and it just didn't work. It's just a racing incident
When you just send it in there, take yourself from second to last, and allow your nearest championship competitor to replace you for a second place finish?
@@Kartkid024 Didn't Gibbs get into a fist fight on pit road? Plus this incident and absolutely a couple more to be found in the highlight reels from this season...
This kid's hands are far from clean...at least at the Xfinity level..
All Ty Gibbs has to do is own up to his aggression. Accept it and keep using it.
This was just a racing deal, and it’s probably more on Byron, he didn’t give Gibbs enough racetrack
And Kimi when?🤔
In 2 hours and 20 min race start
@@Mysohvaperuna thank s👍
They need to get rid off Rick Allen.
What exactly about Kyle Larson was unexpected? Lame
NASCAR needs track limits on turn 1. That’s total crap that it gets used every lap to a huge advantage
It's called using the whole racetrack when necessary. The runoff is a huge advantage yes, but it's only used when someone is battling for a pass or if they overshot the corner. Most drivers tend to stay under the curb during green flag runs, but when it's on a restart when drivers have a good chance to gain track position, they'll be using every inch they got while trying not to wreck in the process. They know what they're doing.
NASCAR is aggressive. It's what makes the sport different from other motorsports.
I wish they would call the race more like V8 supercars in AUS. I wish it was more technical driving comments like apex, braking zones, down force, car setups...etc. They are literally screaming their heads off to tell us what we can obviously see on screen. This isn't radio...we don't need filler.
Would've love to seen a Hendricks one two finish, but you know.... Go talk to Ty about that one. Congratulations to Kyle though!
You mean Hendricks/JR Motorsports one two finish right? Hendricks only fielded one car.
@@pv2xeek they're Hendrick teammates, correct? Ok so again, Hendrick one two finish would've been nice.
Just a racing deal, Gibbs just bit off a tad more than he could chew
Byron is off course every restart and half the corners, any other series he would be penalized. Why even have a rumble strip at turn one, no one uses it. I much prefer when it was grass there. The restarts were pathetic.
NASCAR hasn't had any track limits at pretty much any road course since they've been doing them. That's what makes the racing exciting and fun, especially here. Finishes can get wild and the Glen sells out. This isn't IMSA, drivers know the deal. The curbs aren't your friend in a sports car, but a cup car they can take a licking over those things. I haven't seen this many international drivers in NASCAR in a long time this weekend. This track is a big draw for that.
If it’s paved you can use it
Surprise winner? How is Kyle Larson winning with a HMS car in a b-tier series a surprise?
The editing and timing of the clips on this video is horrendous
Announcers working specified sections of the track is a horrible gimmick. Make it stop.
The moment Larson knew he won the race, did you see him back off?
No Formula 1 racetrack rules?
@@Tixio_T Makes sense, since these sleds just skate around, anyway. Single file restart?
*checks name of racing series* uh...nope. Couldn't find any F's in NASCAR. 🤷♂️
It's both there faults one of them has to back out or give space Gibbs gave him space all day he took mad curve Byron pushed him off track causing Gibbs to hit the grass and spin back into him
Too many road courses this year. In Cup and Xfinity.
I like how algier says “i dont know what happened” when he spun……….we all know what happened……he ran out of talent.
Stage racing is dumb!
Cup Champion is an unexpected winner???
Can Ty Gibbs ever do a race without taking someone out? If he didn't have grandpa's money he wouldn't be anywhere.
No money behind the wheel just talent
@@Tixio_T Easy to win when you just wreck everyone out of the way.
@@billgibson100 yeah takes lots of talent wrecking everyone every week.
@@Tixio_T living in a fantasy world aren't we? lol
@@ducktails1695 ok, now you’re just lying.
