    I guess we must just be really lucky. Every job we pour residential or commercial has a washout pit for us on site. The only time we'll drive back with concrete in the truck is if we're about to have a boom party.

      Yes, that an "old school" water wash. We were taught to do it this was when we were running Thompsen 875's and 2001's. Those hoppers were too big to fill, so we sucked buckets back.

    I just make sure there isn't any water on top of teh concrete in the hopper, and pump wide open either on the ground or back in the mixer till nothing comes out of the hose. Then, I put some water in the hopper and suck my ball back. You never want to leave a schwing stroking while washing out, it will wear out the kidney seal with no concrete in it. You really only have to stroke a schwing one time to wash it out anyway

    I don't have boom pump but i pump a lot of concrete. My question is why not just shove the ball in the hopper, fill it with water and pump it out? i don't understand the reverse part? thanks

      hi 20 years ago we did it like you said. clean the hopper.... than fill it up with water and pump it trough. than we had a job in berlin were we did not leave the site with the pump. we had to change something to rince out the lines. so we tried it this way. the conclusion was that the inside of the conretelines was cleaner this way. because when you drive to the plant, the grout slips to the downside of the lines and gets stuck there.

    Hello! I recently buyed a concrete pump and I am afraid to suck the sponge because I have no bolt to block the sponge not to get destroyed. Can I cause any damage doing it?

    • @calvinbell3126
      @calvinbell3126 3 года назад +1

      No damage would be done to the pump but you'll cut the sponge in half if you suck it in too far

    • @ludodens5278
      @ludodens5278 3 года назад +1

      once the sponge ball comes into the wider part of the lines it will stop. use the right size of ball.

    A lot more work and attention that I'd imagined, never having done this task. I can see how a lazy operator could do a half-assed job and leave a hell of a mess.

    Where I am from we let the pump guys wash out in the concrete trucks as a duty and courteousy . By the way I was a concrete truck driver for over 20 yrs. Sorry you dont get the same:)

    • @theeverydayconservativelos217
      @theeverydayconservativelos217 7 лет назад

      that is the cleanest and fastest way for everybody to get done and on to the next job, safely ! Water washing is 100% proper technique and if done properly you can put ALL the mess back in the truck to be hauled away. Customers LOVE that and so do the op's. Simple. The op MUST know a few things....how many strokes it takes to get to the end of the boom, or the high pt then free fall (gravity assist) what speed to Water Wash, low rpm mid vol, and what shape the mud in the boom is in. If its too tight, simply recirculate to loosen it a bit. NOT too loose, remember water and concrete cause separation, so use good judgement there.
      IN 40 yrs W water washing everything from thompson 2001's , Elba Sheele's and other 'forgotten' models, all the way up to 63m long booms, I NEVER had a tip hose blow out of a truck drum or have a problem. Drop the tip hose in just enough to lay down in/on the charging chute so its aimed into the drum, and pay attention when the flow starts as it MAY try to climb up slightly...from the tremendous thrust exiting the hose...just lower it a bit. 3 seconds later you're done....Lift out, avoid dripping grey water on your best friends drum and fold up and GO !

      ludo dens you must go thru kidney seals like crazy leaving your pump stroking in reverse. Like a rookie schwing don’t need to be stroking to wash out. Putz you do, schwing you clean one cylinder at the time or you wear your kidney seal.... #FuckYousSchwing 🖕🏻😂

    Evidently you guys don’t know how to properly water wash a boom back into the mixer. You save the huge mess in the road and your clean up time is reduced as well? Wow????

    sorry but i see no point in the water before the ball pointless i can clean out my 32 in less then 10 mins from popping the swing 90 u spent extra what 8 are 9 mins getting buckets filling with water then after u make a huge mess and u loose 40 gallons of your 100 are more in sucking the ball back

    • @ludodens
      @ludodens  10 лет назад +8

      dear Chris
      first i want to say to you to read my comment on my video "this the way I do it" I never said it is the right way or everyone should do it like that.
      secondly I don't waiste time to fill up the buckets because the mixer drivers do it for me while they are mixing or filling the hopper.
      the water I use is never my water from the pump.
      the point of the water sucking back is to clean the insides of the boomlines at first, and second to be able to drive to a faraway concrete plant to washout the hopper if on the working site is no place to washout. thing is just to avoid a mess on the construction site. most contractors don't appreciate when you clean out the hopper on their site, because afterwoods they have to clean the site for their customers.
