    It probably would've been beneficial for him to point out at this end of this funny video that under the ADA Federal Law, Emotional Support Animals DO NOT have public access rights. The ONLY animals that are permitted in public are task trained service dogs that help their handlers with medically diagnosed disabilities.

    The ADA or New York definition does not include what some call “emotional support animals”: animals that provide a sense of safety, companionship, and comfort to those with psychiatric or emotional disabilities or conditions. Although these animals often have therapeutic benefits, they are not trained to perform specific tasks for their handlers. Under the ADA and New York law, owners of public accommodations are not required to allow emotional support animals, only service dogs (which includes psychiatric service dogs). These laws also don’t apply to regular pets.

  • @aliceboerner1010
    @aliceboerner1010 7 лет назад +5

    ESA's are completely different than Service animals. ESA's are not allowed anywhere public except living spaces and Airplanes. It is illegal to bring an ESA into a public place and can hurt people who actually have Service dogs.

    While this is clearly satire, it's important to note that ESAs do not have public access and in many states, what is shown here is actually a crime (as in a misdemeanor that you can actually be arrested for). The ADA is very clear that ESAs do not have public access, only task trained service animals (which can only be a dog or a mini horse). www.ada.gov/regs2010/service_animal_qa.html

    ESA are not allowed everywhere, that is SA or SD or SMH (Service animal, service dog service, miniature horse) you are braking that laws in so many Levels! ESA are only able to live in your home no matter the rules of ring city laws or what animal it is and able to go on plains. I have a Goat for my PTSD (goats help me more then other animals) so it's rude and Insulting to people with real disabilities and need an ESA or SA this is just not ok, and you need to add this to your disclaimer!

Please don't go online and waste your time by signing up for a service animal because first of all you don't need papers or a vest to have a service dog its not required and your going to ruin it for the people with legit service animal.

    • @Tiasophia9
      @Tiasophia9 9 лет назад +8

      +Brandon Sullivan Glad I'm actually part of that 8%. It's not just about leaving the house. Someone ,like me for example, may have breakdowns in their own home and need something there to comfort them. I had to get approved for one as I'm living in college dorms where pets are not allowed. I have a cat who lives 4,000 miles away with my parents, and because she is 18, I was not allowed to bring her here (age or some bs like that). I was diagnosed at age 12 with bipolar depression and anxiety. Having an ESA has helped me SO much. This is why things like this annoy me, because as someone who genuinely needs an animal, people like this are turning it into a joke and are risking getting something like this banned.

    Certified emotional support animals I'm laughing out loud. Emotional support animals are not covered under the 88I don't know how many times you will have to say this before people finally get it. You can have them in your rental in your condo and take them on an airplane that is it. They do not have the same rights as service dogs. And if you say they do you don't know the law so tired of people passing off pets as service animals.

    ESA'S DO NOT HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS RIGHTS. THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM SERVICE DOGS GOOD LORD PEOPLE. ESA's are not service animals. Therefore under the ADA have no rights what so ever. They can only accompany you on flights and live in no pet housing. They cannot go shopping with you. Unless it is a TASK TRAINED animal for a disability. My dog assists me when I get dizzy, can carry things, can pick things up, pull a wheel chair, alert me to passing out, alert to a high heart rate, go get help, go get water, go get my meds, go find ___, follow mom, watch mom, guide, forward momentum pulling, anxiety alerts, assistance durning a seizure, go get help if I stay unconscious for too long, push a handicap button to open doors, open doors, close them, watch my back, block people from me, and so many more things. This takes almost 2 years to train a dog to this level. Even then a dog barking at my service dog, or something else may momentarily distract her. You are then liable to a lawsuit. ONLINE REGISTRIES ARE FAKE. The only way to get an ESA is to have a mental health professional that you are being treated by give you a note stating what the dog is required for. A service dog you need a disability. Not an "Oh I broke my arm once so I qualify." It's something you are diagnosed with that is chronic. Stop bringing ESA's and other untrained animals into non pet friendly places.
