Thank you for reviewing the Great Adventure Bible! I'm actually reading this Bible as I type this. Love this Bible so much. The Bible tabs that go with this particular version which you have to purchase separately are great as well. A great study resource, truly a blessing 🙏
@ACF1901Catholic Church added them? Wow! The Bible was compiled in 382 AD under Pope Damascus at the Council of Rome, it has been there since the beginning before 1600, where Protestantism just started, when Luther separated from the Church, it's the other way around, obviously the Protestant removed them, even trying to removed the books of James and Daniel.
I know from his interview on Pints with Aquinas that Jeff Cavins, the guy behind the Great Adventure Bible timeline, is a fan of Schuyler Bibles, Allan Bibles, Cambridge Bibles, etc. and has teased his efforts to get a high-end premium edition of this made: French paper, goatskin, etc. Here's hoping. Though, personally, the red letters hurt my eyes (and I seem to remember seeing some minor mistakes, like quotation marks sometimes being still in black in some places but not others with otherwise red print), so I ended up passing on the Great Adventure Bible, deciding instead to just get the chart separately and use it and Fr. Mike Schmitz's Bible in a Year Podcast, based on the Great Adventure Bible, with the Didache Bible instead; same translation, so it worked out fine. I also wish they either went back to printing in the US, like the original (though glued) Great Adventure Bible, or did it in Italy like Word on Fire has done with their Bible series, and even somewhere like Korea or India if the others are cost-prohibitive.
Thank you for reviewing this Bible !! I have been curious to see it. There is a Priest on You Tube who holds up his very worn copy of The Adventure Bible, his favorite. I will put it in my wish list.
Thank you so much for this review; my dad owns a copy of the Great Adventure Bible, your review actually convinced me that it’d be worth reading on my second read-through of the Bible (almost finished with my first cover-to-cover reading during which I hopped between several different translations before settling on the Douay Rheims)
Apocrypha is things like Shepherd of Hermas, Gospel of Peter. What this bible includes is what has been always included since before Christ: the Deuterocanonicals. Excluded are the Apocrypha. I did this bible study once, but at that time the corresponding edition of the bible did not exist, just all the color-coded materials. I'm glad you like this edition, and yes, I would spring for this bible!
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Your way is able to make no distinction between Shepherd of Hermas and the Gospel of Matthew. My way has that built in. We both know that.
The point of the timeline is to show salvation history and how the entire bible contains God's plan of salvation and points to Jesus, etc. It's really helped me to get perspective and understanding, especially with the OT and how it relates to our salvation and Jesus. Thanks for the video!

Quality of these are all over the place. I have 2, thought they were leather due to the deceptive marketing name "Alpha Cowhide"... pleather... 1st one I had was poorly printed towards the rear of the Bible with the font looking unreadable blurred. That one was actually printed in the USA. 2nd one was printed in China and although printed okay the ribbons were glued in poorly. Love the content of Catholic Bibles but common to find the build quality subpar vs Protestant equivalents.
Around 5:60 you say “this is a sewn bible”. I have the “paperback”, which is clearly not sewn (although nicely made). But I think this Bible is essentially made in the same way, “glued” as well, and some comments for other reviews indicate dissatisfaction with how well it “holds up” . . . I treat my paperback very gently . . .
thank you for the video will you be having a giveaway im a catholic mom of 4 i really need this bible i do have some of the plan studies but i cant afford this now i have no job or monie
I just had a giveaway a couple weeks ago, but always be on the lookout for another one. Also my friend Tim Wildsmith is doing a huge giveaway right now. Check his channel out!

I’m also not Catholic but wow I want this. The 7 books should be in the Bible no matter what Luther said.
Not sure that begin with Luther.

Thank you for this review! this is by far the most helpful review of this Bible I have seen yet. Thank you!
Thanks for the encouragement!

How is the Didache Bible? Is there good commentary on the book of revelation? Like the 144,000 and Fall of Babylon, etc?
@TruLuan the Didache Bible is nice, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for. It’s more of a Catechism commentary rather than early church.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thanks! Perhaps the Great Adventure Bible or the Little Rock Catholic Study Bible are better options for commentary notes.
I so wish they made a premium version of this bible, a year after your comment and still haven’t seen anything
Another good review. And I like the way you show respect for other traditions while upholding your own.
Very glad to see you review this one. I love my Great Adventure Bible; the intros, and key events, really help put everything into perspective.

What the apocrypha is, is based on your tradition. You and I both know that. But I really do appreciate the comment and the info.

Your logic is deeply flawed.

Oh goodie. Been wondering if you were going to review this one.
Hadn’t heard of this but it’s a very cool idea! Thanks for reviewing Tim!

Nice review. I recently got the Large Print version of this which comes in a hard cover format. Seems really well put together.
This is the Bible I use for daily reading.
Would you consider reviewing the Tolle Lege Press edition of the Geneva Bible? Also, what’s your favorite edition of the Douay Rheims?
Baronius Press on the Douay Rheims. As far S the Geneva Bible those are really pricey so maybe one day.
Another great review. Do you think this would be a good candidate for a rebind?
I think so. The only drawback is you can’t dye the page edges because of the color code.

Totally agree the name of the cover is deceptive. That’s why I made it a point to talk about it.
Is it smyth sewn? I missed that
It is. Sewn and then glued for more durability.
Around 5:60 you say “this is a sewn bible”. I have the “paperback”, which is clearly not sewn (although nicely made). But I think this Bible is essentially made in the same way, “glued” as well, and some comments for other reviews indicate dissatisfaction with how well it “holds up” . . . The glued edition was USA printed. This is a second edition printed in China and it is SEWN, and then glued to reinforce. It is indeed sewn.
My paperback GAB is sewn. I have the newer printing.
Would this Bible be a good candidate to rebind? I know that’s it’s sewn and glued, so I’m iffy right now.
I believe it is. Rebinders can scrape down the glue and reinforce it again.
Incredible bible
It looks really cool!
the great adventure catholic bible when will it be updated
I don’t have that information.
Does this bible have creamy paper or pure white? I'm looking for a rsv2ce with white paper
The paper is white. Not creamy like the Ignatius press.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thank you. I bought Ignatius press for daily reading, but I can't stand creamy. I have to buy this one then
Did you say what translation this is?
I did. I’m the outro. RSV-2CE.

or you could just say that Adam and Eve were the HISTORICAL first humans, created by God, AS RECORDED in Genesis.
I’m not sure what your point is. Of course they are.
I don’t like that it’s printed in China.
I’ve actually made a video addressing this. You should check it out.
This is the whole Bible, nothing apocryphal. Stop it, you removed books and are missing part of the Bible.
Duly noted.
I believe the Great Adventure Catholic Bible is a great buy even for Protestants who want a Bible that contains the deuterocanon/apocrypha.
