I love how Neal could use this campaign as an in-universe explanation for changing the rules in future campaigns depending on the outcome of this campaign. Pretty clever if it was planned that way.
@anthonystone2089 You missing the point. How often did the players had a role in it? It's one thing the Gods(aka DM) changes the rules or the actions of the players might change them....
I love the class redesigns. Those are so cool Looks like winning run and bun has earned pchal the dice gods blessing. Archie rolls are back Nicks sling rolls are the best ive ever seen him do in combat. Legendary indeed
2:50:32 - actually, you guys fought an owlbear in TOS on that snowy island where the Minataur tomb was. It was (iirc) in a cave you wanted to camp in, and after using magic candle to flush it out and start the engagement well, Tyreal frontloaded alot of dmg to it. Dont think Anton was in fighting shape due to a slime and some burns.... I think it might have knocked him out due to low hp from the prior slime encounter? Or was it Tyreal knocked out? Someone, either Anton or Tyreal, was knocked unconscious for a day or few after that, but i dont remember which one... surely it was Anton right? Since he was low hp, and would be able to heal Tyreal up? Or maybe he was out of heals from the slime/burn dmg? CBA to go check, but they definitely fought one and camped in its cave afterward for a day or two. edit - lol made the comment, then started scrolling and see like 3 other ppl also mentioned it >
SPOILERS... Mout said that was his first owlbear but I am pretty sure they fought one in ToS just before the minatour maze, I remember Anton getting knocked unconcious from it
Koibu for reference it takes 6-9 hours for an experienced and fit man to dig a grave with a shovel, depending on soil type. Filling it in will of course be a lot faster. Obviously with 18 str it will be somewhat faster.
Big fan of giving xp immediately. A week downtime is really unreasonable for a lot of heroes or busy historical figures and at times they went long stretches without xp in previous campaigns.
Would make sense if the clerics are drawing there power from Martha and malkus without praying since their connection is very close. Can't wait to find out.
2e str bonuses are really weird. IIRC it's 16 +1 Dmg, 17 +1 hit & Dmg, 18 +1 hit & +2 Dmg. Then if you're a warrior class you go into exceptional str which means you roll a d100 and then there are bonuses depending on how high you roll.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post the homebrew rules for this on the site or fuck it make a pdf with all your homebrew rules like the thief rebuild i would buy it
Neal told me he will when they are ready to share. He is keeping them under wraps to slow roll mechanics on the PCs. When it is time it'll be published on Neal's website as well as the wiki.
Spoilers for the next sentence below, but honestly if you haven't seen the episode then reading the comments in on you. But yeah, finally getting a crit roll and using it to down one of the party is the most Nick thing ever.
Gotta say, it seemed like the beginning was a little awkward. Riven just found their dead mother. Cedric has very good reason to believe his father is likely dead as well. Or perhaps Mr Mouton just forgot between sessions that Cedric's father is also missing and assumed to be under the rubble. And yet, all three of you kind of just ignored the emotional importance of what should be an extremely painful moment for two of these characters. Only Nick seemed to understand. Door or no door, new powers or no new powers, nothing is going to stop you from grieving for the immediate discovery of your dead parent. Ignoring Riven's emotional state seemed a little dismissive. Especially for characters who grew up in a very small town where community is important. I could understand Elijah being unaffected since he hasn't formed a real bond yet. I don't know. That felt really off. You guys were a little too eager to get to the door and you kind of ignored the emotional significance of the event that just unfolded. Not complaining. Loving the show. Just wanted to point out how pointedly awkward/wrong that scene felt.
Yeah, it seems like the players got a little bit too excited by the door and completely forgot to role-play, Nick tried to acknowledge it but i think he didn't want to force it.
The hovering on deaths door is not a good death mechanic, and it gets even worse with the whackamole no consequence system for critical/negative wounds that is used here. I prefer death at 0hp, though a more lenient alternative is once 0 is reached the pc rolls a save vs death every round until stabilized and a failure is death. This makes consequences a lot more real in the game unlike the bland plot armor system used, where deaths are extremely unlikely unless Koibu decides to really lean on the party to end a campaign in a downward spiral.
I totally disagree. I love the Soundtracks and the usage of them. I think it's incredible so far. Maybe the volume was off at some points but I didn't notice that.
And so it begins.
begins so it and

Every time the gods show up the rules can change.

You know with Nick's propensity for low rolls, the low initiative score was one way for it to balance out and now he's even lost that. 😂
Riven straight-manning Elijah's bullshit is always hilarious.

this magic system seems awesome, i love the difference between the sorcerers and the clerics

1:54:09 that was so badass from our bureaucrat
I love this sort of beginning
Archie B Evans
I need a director’s commentary for the door scene alone
At this point this feels like an entirely original system vs modded dnd. which is awesome.
Didnt Nick and Mouton fight an Owlbear in ToS?? I'm pretty sure they encourted one in a cave.
Yes they did, on the minotaur island I think, although it did wreck Anton
@jaro__ Yeah it bitchslapped him so hard, he totally forgot that it happened
Its the slow burn that penetrates the serotonin receptors.
I really thought that owl bear was gonna be the end
SPOILERS...

I thought gtc had one?
I think those were bugbears and not owlbears
editor deserves a raise for 2:16:41 for the convo going on
Almost got wiped on the first session, classic.

Riven x Zephyr. They balance each other. The mommy issues. The elven lineage. They WILL have gay half elf babies, fuck Martha's will
THEY SHARED BERRIES DAMN IT
The sling incident may be a hurdle
A new campaign that I can binge to over and over again while I grind BO6 😩😩

What a crazy session.
I like the thumbnails. They make my brain wonder.
Jack Vance is rolling in his grave.
Caught the live stream!! Cant wait to see whats up!!
I really hope Eli gets to go full magus, itd be hilarious for him to like dual class fighter and just wreck shit later on.
i love dungeons and dragons
How come cedrik is hitting only with a +1 even though he has 18 strength?

Elijah b.auld coming for the win

Hey man it’s just their parents and their last living relative for one of them, it’s no big deal go look at this cool door lol
Yeah, it seems like the players got a little bit too excited by the door and completely forgot to role-play, Nick tried to acknowledge it but i think he didn't want to force it.
Cedrics dad isn't missing, if i remember correctly he came up to Cedric from the crowd after Rivens mom was found and hugged him

Is there a chance the music can be turned down a bit?
It can be very distracting.
Particularly the music starting around 35:30 . That track sounds like someone just beating a few pots and pans together loudly.
I totally disagree. I love the Soundtracks and the usage of them. I think it's incredible so far.

no fighters in this campaign or paladins ;(
