I do something similar, as I used to play boci ball when visiting my cousins as a kid, same up and down motion when releasing, don to up, yet straight to the target… great vids.
I really appreciate this. You described my challenge perfectly - too many variables on long putts, and my misses are early hyzers or long right. I like this because I'm always looking for a single, simple thing to think about for my throws, but have that action (e.g. how the disc leaves my hand) be connected to all the other mechanics. I like it. I definitely tend to miss right when I’m playing with more pressure. You’re right I would much rather miss low or high. Hopefully I can try this tomorrow.
Last time I played was before Thanksgiving and I got to play at Cliff Stephens for the first time and shot a -5 (from the shorts). My putting felt really good trying out some of the tips from Jaani’s 5 minute form video on Ricky’s putting. Basically just using more legs and having the legs go first then the arm.
This is exactly how I putt. The extra advantage is that if you do miss, the disc hits the ground very near the basket instead of airballing 30 feet like a missed spin putt. Also for the upstroke I imagine 'running' the disc up the line of the pole in the middle of the basket and that really helps the alignment of the release.

This is advice for a push putt. Push putts miss high and low. Spin putts miss left and right. If you spin putt and like it, then this is not the advice for you.

Nice job, Gannon Buhr gives a similar example of popping the disc at the end of your throw.

I do both and I’ve never felt like push putts are any safer. If anything it’s a defeatist way to putt and it’s potentially more dangerous.
UDisc stats are a thing. I better see 100% C1X at the end of the season or this is some wild clickbait.
