I hate the fact that Patch was actually promised funds from this movie to help his hospital and he didn't get anything from it and he still struggled to build his hospital for this insulting false portrayal. No disrespect to Robin Williams but this movie is just fucked up and I hope that whoever worked on this film and screwed up Patch's portrayal is proud of how shitty this movie is.
To be fair, the guy running the mental ward was the evil mayor from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the guy running the hospital was the warden from the Shawshank Redemption. That might be why everything's kooky.
10:52 - I hate it when a film is so transparently trying to tell you through its soundtrack. "THIS IS INSPIRING! I COMMAND YOU TO FEEL INSPIRED!" It's like in his Full House review, which also mentions that he music is telling people what to feel.
3:20 - 3:26 - Anyone else reminded of that torture scene in 1984? Oh and while I'm on that "connection" that Patch makes with that guy 3:34 - What the fuck is this! "If you focus on the problem you can't see the solution! Never focus on the problem!" Okay I want to be a filmmaker myself, I see that the way I'm gonna get the equipment to do so is with...a Hershey's Bar!
2:04 That guy had just been told that the only notable roles hes getting in the coming decade are Mr. Noodle in Elmo's World and that guy who gets eaten by raptors in Jurassic Park 3.
Well, Doug, during that speech about not caring for patients is exactly the same as the Today is History speech from Schindler's List. Made only one Schindler's List joke. WHY DON'T YOU MAKE MORE?
(01:08)No,actually,I was thinking,"Patch Adams? You're not even trying!Whattaya gonna review next,Deuce Bigalow,Male Gigolo?White Chicks?Gigli? The filmmaking legacy of Friedberg and Seltzer?" (actually, this was hilarious, your criticisms were spot-on,I eagerly await part 2 of this post, and I wish you WOULD do those movies)
there was an episode of urban legends where a girl is manipulated by one of her classmates who fools around with the class to start playing with the cadavers. PATCH ADAMS EVERYONE!
The fingers metaphor from the old man is pretty botched up. It takes a leap of the imagination to realize he's saying, "Study the person, not the issue/illness". You could legitamitely say "the answer (8), is really just an illusion"! THAT'S...JUST...REALLY...FUCKING...POORLY...WRITTEN...AND...CONTRIVED!!
I'll tell you one good thing about this movie, the female character is more interesting than Patch Adams or the other characters in the stinking film! Yes, I think we should bring the focus on her and call this movie The Charming Rebel!
I don't mind Robin William's films as you come to expect all of this from him. If he's "serious" then he's often sappy and will try to play on teaching you a lesson and he does alright with that. If he's "serious" and "dark" get ready to be bored out of your damn mind. In all honestly I prefer him in Death to Smoochy as the utterly insane host of a children's programs. I like to think the Teletubbies were like that behind the scenes..
@Vampireslayer64 According to the appropriate commentary, both Doug and Rob have agreed that by far the worst movie they ever saw was "Garbage Pail Kids." The Titanic movies, The Room, Felix, Troll in Central Park, even Star Wars Holiday Special were horrendous, but they said that GPK was just sheer unpleasantness throughout.
I wen't to a Patch Addams speech at Me to We Toronto what a great inspiring person. Great guy the whole idea of love and healing he was such a great guy. :) The movie did not do the guy full justice.
Children do respond from laughter in terms of recovery but....yeah, this film version seems to schmaltzy for my liking. And while there's range in his acting it's a bit wooden and mechanical the switches between the two...sadly.
I haven't hated a character this fast since Bio Dome. Quite an accomplishment, movie. I also love how Critic makes fun of the whole "every strong, independent woman is really just a weak, fragile softie putting up a convincing act" trope. That shit needs to get blasted more often.
@StupidWizardFilms Oh yeah, I forgot he said that. Still, I was thinking along the lines of just straight up the shittiest movie he's reviewed. While he said that it was something you had to 'see to believe', I think we can agree it is at least in the top 5 worst. Felix was bad, but I think that Tommy Wiesu's acting was the worst he's ever had to deal with.
@Barrymit actually, he played the "movie/tv" robin williams. That robin williams is different from the real robin williams in that where the real robin williams is raunchy, intelligent and fucking hysterical, the movie robin williams is preachy, cliched, and nonconformist to the most annoying degree imaginable.
hey Leisure, could you please inform the Nostalgia critic that it has been 13 freakin years since the Phantom menace has been released, could you please recommend to him to review that shitstorm of a movie :)
@Vampireslayer64 But did Felix made you spit out with laughter? Nope. It made you puke and Bio Dome well just look at it if you can with out dying of diarrhea
+Cynthia King Also if it didn't take major liberties with the person's lifestory, because it portrayed Patch Adams as just sleeping his way through medical school and jerking off like Pewdiepie and creating his own hospital while at med school without even having a license and stealing supplies for his own hospital. While in reality, Patch actually studied hard and ran his own hospital with a license after med school graduation. Not to mention the love interest in this movie was actually a man in real life who was Patch's best friend.
these "evil" establishment/anti establishment movies are starting to get annoying yes hollywood we know that theres "evil" out but you are also an establishment
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Williams. Two very talented actors gone too soon. You will be missed.
Also Michael Jeffer

Jesus, both Robin and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are gone. This hurts so badly now...
BUT WHAT ABOUT BOOMER.
Slaggedfire
Boomer...
is pretty much dead by now, as well...
Olivier Schultheiss
:( curse you Jurassic park the lost world.
R.I.P Robin Williams
To be fair, the guy running the mental ward was the evil mayor from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the guy running the hospital was the warden from the Shawshank Redemption. That might be why everything's kooky.
R.I.P. Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman

i feel dirty for liking this movie when i watch it for the first time without any knowledge of the real Patch Adams
14:28 Why not have a whole WET BANANA!! That's for you Robin!
The beginning scene is so depressing now that Robin passed away. :(
3:20 - 3:26 - Anyone else reminded of that torture scene in 1984?
Oh and while I'm on that "connection" that Patch makes with that guy 3:34 - What the fuck is this! "If you focus on the problem you can't see the solution! Never focus on the problem!" Okay I want to be a filmmaker myself, I see that the way I'm gonna get the equipment to do so is with...a Hershey's Bar!
If you legit wanna be a director, good luck. I want to be a storyboard artist!
3:42 "Never focus on the problem."
Oh what a great advice, mainly for a guy who wants to be a Doctor ¬¬
1:52
Ouch...
Actually this was how doctors quite commonly behaved next to patients up until the 70's.
This is one of my favorite reviews. So fucking funny
Robin Williams didn't play Patch Adams, he just played himself like he normally does.
OMG, the escalation of that screaming ( 4:15 ) reminded me of Roger Rabbit. XD
Well then...the intro to this movie went dark.
Every time the critic frowns at the beginning of his videos, I smile.
I think this was the only movie where I have walked out of the theater.
I laugh so nostalgia critic is the best medicine.
Bedside manner is not the same as being emotional. You can't be emotionally attached to patients in a profession like that.
2:04 That guy had just been told that the only notable roles hes getting in the coming decade are Mr. Noodle in Elmo's World and that guy who gets eaten by raptors in Jurassic Park 3.
Saddam Hussein he played mr noodle brother
Awesome, thanks for uploading!
If your socks have grips then you know... the beginning is very real
@ovader1 Either Batman and Robin or Felix the Cat it seems, it's a bit of a toss up. Maybe throw in the Titanic animated movies too.
Well, Doug, during that speech about not caring for patients is exactly the same as the Today is History speech from Schindler's List. Made only one Schindler's List joke. WHY DON'T YOU MAKE MORE?

I honestly want Dr. Bitch Spasms to come back. He's hilarious, but I'm sure that it would be very annoying if you were in that situation.
music is an important role in all movies it helps builds atmosphere/sets a tone but in this movie they over do it
there was an episode of urban legends where a girl is manipulated by one of her classmates who fools around with the class to start playing with the cadavers. PATCH ADAMS EVERYONE!

Nice looping shot.
This looks like a bad version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Great Review Critic again, made me laugh loads.
I actually came from a teaching hospital and yes, they do that.
Oh yeah, because laughter will absolutely cheer up kids who have leukimia!
The line at 13:30 suddenly lost a lot of its humor now...
I'll tell you one good thing about this movie, the female character is more interesting than Patch Adams or the other characters in the stinking film! Yes, I think we should bring the focus on her and call this movie The Charming Rebel!
Felix and Patch would get along well.
I don't mind Robin William's films as you come to expect all of this from him. If he's "serious" then he's often sappy and will try to play on teaching you a lesson and he does alright with that. If he's "serious" and "dark" get ready to be bored out of your damn mind.

Dr. Bitchspams needs to be a recurring character.
You need to review the Twilight Zone movie, and it exists
whats up with those Blackout commercials he's been doing?
we wached this in health 2 !
2:06 hes just emotional about mr. jimgles
@Vampireslayer64 According to the appropriate commentary, both Doug and Rob have agreed that by far the worst movie they ever saw was "Garbage Pail Kids." @Neonman78 i think that was Ghost Busters
13:14 " Butt fuck it!"
Quack quack quack Mr. Ducksworth! @ 10:32
@DarthChomper
You know Leisure isn't the Critic, right? And that Critic's been doing these since 2008?
@Frozone470 he didn't say he wasn't. in fact he didn't say any of those movies were bad. he just said they pretty much have the same message
5:52 isn't that the guy from scrubs?
where is Ponyo and why was it taken down???
@Vampireslayer64 No. He says you have to see to believe. Few films are like that. Felix The Cat and Bio-Dome most likely
@GoldmansNephew that was kinda like a trademark of movies in the 90s.,In robin williams movies they went way overboard.
I wen't to a Patch Addams speech at Me to We Toronto what a great inspiring person. Great guy the whole idea of love and healing he was such a great guy. :) The movie did not do the guy full justice.
Robin Williams actually committed suicide.
What's the dialogue at 6:22 from?
Steve Odenkirk, Tom Shadyac, and Robin Williams- I love y'all, but WHY??
the pasta pool porn actually exists (just role with it)
+Grey Summers just part of a sad sexless existente is knowing porn trivia like that
yes they do hospitalize you if you feel you need it or you feel suicidal and yes you room with people that are a trite nuttier than you just sayn
um he asks if he's a little too old... the guy who looks like 40 asks the guy who looks like 50... don't people go in college at around 20?
Thumbs up if you can see Robin Williams ending up in a nuthouse once he retires

a tom shadyac movie? didn't he also do bruce almighty???
Good
Dead Poets Society is a great film.
@ovader1 If you asked him he'd probably say Garbage Pail Kids, like he always does. :)
@nodinitiative NC put that movie on his top 10 list of movies he wont review, basicly cuz alot of people already did it :)
What was the worst movie that critic reviewed?
even real doctors are more good at what they do lol
Pretty much.
lol bunny rabbit
Cool
hey Leisure, could you please inform the Nostalgia critic that it has been 13 freakin years since the Phantom menace has been released, could you please recommend to him to review that shitstorm of a movie :)
@ovader1 The Room, most likely.
@hackensac no. nothing's worse than that movie. not even the room
@Vampireslayer64 But did Felix made you spit out with laughter? Nope. It made you puke and Bio Dome well just look at it if you can with out dying of diarrhea
Or maybe Felix the Cat movie.
@vampirekitty001 HELL YEAH!
hey some of us acsely like Fisher king dead poot soseity flubber Good Will hunting and man of The year
I feel this movie would have been REALLY good if he became a PHYCATRIST and this wasn't based off of someone's life!
you mean psychologist? a psychiatrist is something completely different.
GamingRisen Yes, that's what I mean. I apologize, I cannot spell for my life
Cynthia King
plus a better term would be therapist because a therapist listens to you, and a psychologist just gives prescriptions.
+Cynthia King Also if it didn't take major liberties with the person's lifestory, because it portrayed Patch Adams as just sleeping his way through medical school and jerking off like Pewdiepie and creating his own hospital while at med school without even having a license and stealing supplies for his own hospital. I'm sorry... to put down ANY Robin Williams is a hazard to your health. ( Click Click )
0:51/8:52
@3brerfox Well, can't argue with that. That movie sucked O.o
these "evil" establishment/anti establishment movies are starting to get annoying
yes hollywood we know that theres "evil" out but you are also an establishment
M
I agree this movie sucks.
the last doctor i had was gay, id take Robin Williams any day over him.
