Lyrics
One in his bed
And one all blown to hell
One on his throne
And one slumped in his cell
One from the smoke
And one cornered by fire
One by his enmity
And one his desire
One from her plight
And one by falling wood
One from a covenant
Come to no good
One from the cigarettes
One by her kind
One by the voices
That cornered her mind
One by one...
One by the God of war
One by decree
One by His mercy
And one by His greed
One in the lion’s den
One by a Pope
One by the guillotine
One by the rope
One by the mob
And nineteen in that barn
One from the boredom
And one the alarm
One by black magic
One cannibalised
One by the spiders
And one by the flies
One by one...
One by barbiturate
One by morphine
One by a method
Foreseen in a dream
One in a pyramid
One on a cross
One for his winnings
And one for his loss
One in the night
And one by her own hand
One by the chosen
And one by the damned
One by the venom
And one by the pox
One from the water
And one from the rocks.
One by one.

Leonard Cohen wrote a song called Who By Fire which is the same concept, we all have to go from something.

@@cosmicchild234 correcting my English spelling with a expression i never heard before. Double thanks.
@@claytondefreitaslima1169 Funny thing is it's "snarky pants" so she corrected your error with one of her own haha. Who wins now!?
@@Cheeseburger.Launch.Sequence Everyone walks out happy to the sunset of good English.
Kids are so young now this seems fresh and original.....however it's actually quite average and derivative.
do you like his work with The Veils? In this sad state of Instagram we live in today, I find his lyrics with them to be great especially considering the time. I'm not crazy about his solo stuff. But I find his lyrics with The Veils quite poignant, regardless of era. it's not the surrealist poetry of the Beat Generation, and then Dylan. but it's quite vivid. I do hip hop and have been really struggling to incorporate aspects of poetry other than alliteration and internal rhyme scheme. and finding less direct and literal ways to tell a story.
anyhow, I hear you. but the times they are a changin'
Give this gentleman his just credit. And if you don't a massive failure in great taste.
