Don’t think there is anything to add here. Mikaela has shared it all, the motivation, the dedication, the heartbreak and joy and the truth to her success. Such a privilege to watch and in a little way feel a part of her team. This video should be shown in schools all over the World. A heartfelt congratulations and thank you for sharing.
Everyone will continue to talk about the numbers, whatever the final "NUMBER" will be, and will become the target for the next generation. Too bad, the lure and celebration of the GOAT. What is real and true, however, is your beautiful soliloquy at 23" and printed above. It filled my heart and the tears flowed. Thanks for your celebration of the practice of living as a Practice. You express humanity in a way we can all share, empathize and learn. You inspire me as an athlete, gardener, cook, musician, parent, child, person. Thanks for sharing the beautiful, amazing, death-defying performances with us as long as you will.
Hi Mikaela My name is Laura and I am 13 years old. I come from Austria. I would like to tell you something. In German we wrote a school assignment on Friday 10.3 2023. We had to write a characteristic about the person we want to get to know and I wrote about you. When I came home and you were celebrating your 86th victory I was so happy that you had won and I wrote about the best skier. When we got her back I had an A. I thought it was a coincidence that you got an 86 and I got an A in German. This season was really spectacular of you. I think that your skiing this season was the best. By the way, the episode is phenomenal again and I'm already looking forward to the next episodes. Is it planned that there will be episondes on your summer training. Because I love this the series so much. I am already looking forward to the next episode 😊 Have a great summer. YOU ARE THE BEST Very best regards Laura
I had paid for both Peacock and US S&S Live only to see half way through the season Peacock decides to get their butt in gear and finally cover the WC races. I wondered how that came about.
In Japan, they aren't even televised except for an occasional Olympic race. It's disheartening because it makes it that much more difficult to attract young potential racers.
What I noticed was how you took Laurence St-Germain under your wing at the slalom medal ceremony. It was her first time and you were pointing things out while talking to her. As a Canadian, it made me feel even more admiration for you, looking out for one of ours. Fans of ski racing could not ask for a better person to represent this sport we love.
"We need to get the sport accessible to view" ...best line in the video! I've been watching replays after my phone has divulged the results, all season. So sad.
You are truly an inspiration! My family lives in Denver, and every race day (night) I stay up all through the night to watch you race. My daughter is 8 years old and all she wants to do is ski as fast as Mikaela. You are the greatest role model I could ask for. Nothing but class! We haven’t missed one of your races in the last 5 years. With this achievement, you have solidified yourself as the single greatest athlete in world history (male or female). We can’t wait to watch what’s next! Congratulations!!!
As an old veteran skier with 2 artificial knee joints now, I love watching the WC races and seeing all the competitors keep at it week after week. I wish you continued happiness and inspiration to do what you love. Thanks for putting your life out there for all of us to share. Greetings from Japan!
You are truly an amazing talent and humble person. Watching these videos has made me so happy. I love watching you ski. Congratulations on a phenomenal season. Looking forward to watching you for years to come.
I just finished watching all episodes in a row. Wow. You are one of the greatest athletes of all time. Not just in skiing. The dedication, motivation, all the feelings… incredible. I got emotional a couple times watching this. It‘s great to see what goes into your success and how you are as a person. Mikaela is just.. I don‘t know how to describe it… she is.. approachable, she is…human. I love documentaries like this. I hope to see you race for a long time even if it means that Wendy will finish second behind you again and again ;) I am truly a fan of yours, wishing you all the best, a great summer and then back on the track next season! Greetings from Bern, Switzerland Thomas
The fact that the FIS and related entities did not figure out how to make alpine ski racing accessible to all in this historic year is unfortunate to say the least. Instead, fans are left to pull the pieces together through this excellent series and other content developed and distributed by the associated brands. "Moving Right Along" has set a high bar in that category! I've said it, I think, with each new episode. This is simply the best example of how to tell an engaging story with authenticity and heart. With each successive episode I find myself feeling (sharing) real emotions instead of fabricated ones through editorial choices. Marketers and streamers talk about and credit Formula 1's "Drive to Survive" as being responsible for expanding and generating a whole new fanbase in places like the U.S. where the general population knew little of the sport. I think what you've done here in storytelling far surpasses anything they've accomplished. You've created a template for how to bring fans closer to the extraordinary sport of ski racing and their favorite athletes (with you, Mika leading the way). Thanks again for taking us along on this historic journey.
I can’t believe the racing isn’t shown in the states! In the UK, pretty much every race (start delay and over running other live sports permitting) is shown live on Eurosport, and we’ve only ever won 1 race in over 50 years of trying! 🚀🚀🚀
It's really a complex and layered problem, and I am hopeful all of the shareholders can come together to find a way to make it more accessible for all, especially the U.S. market.
Infront Media owns the production, distribution, and broadcast rights to almost all of the World Cup races - FIS does not own them at all!! The national ski associations sell the rights to Infront, and then a deal is brokered with broadcasters (like NBC or Eurosport). It is not FIS who has dropped the ball here, it is Infront! FIS actually wants to make the process BETTER by centralizing rights and getting rid of Infront. A great example: Why did NBC only broadcast domestic US World Cup races and Austrian World Cup races this year? Because those are the only races whose rights are not owned by Infront! Infront is the problem and FIS is trying to fix this. But unfortunately, national ski associations like the Austrians and the Swiss are selfishly trying to prevent this reform from happening.
Yes- where is ESPN!!!! I’m so glad you recognize this and are speaking out. You would think there would be money to be made with advertising in the ski industry… Epic, Ikon, not to mention all the gear! It makes me so mad that Peacock has a monopoly on this.
@@bethwilson9670 It's more complex than that, even. TV rights are not centralized in our sport, meaning that FIS does not own rights, but rather InFront (all races outside of Austria) and IMG Media/ÖSV (all races in Austiria) own rights. Here's an article with a bit more detail, but needless to say it's a less than ideal situation - apnews.com/article/sports-europe-business-austria-snowboarding-4bdefa000d0e4c2cdba3c65411fc130e. That's why skiandsnowboard.live (InFront) airs all of the races outside of Austria, and then this year Peacock aired all races in Austria, as well as the U.S. We really need change here, and I'm doing my best to do what I can to make that happen.
Great Video…Just a few ideas for next year videos: would love to hear your mom thoughts before each race…and your coaches. Would love to hear from a few fans that travel to see you race….why they travel to see you race. Would love to see you dance with your amazing boy friend on a few videos…love it when he spins you around! You are a great role model for future racers 😊😊⛷️! Thank you for your passion for skiing! It is so great to see you smile!😊. Blessings to you and your family! I loved seeing your interaction with your brother! So special…so glad you shared your family story with all of us!
I think that we should really thank her for those series because not only they are great but she puts a lot of effort into them… so there’s a big thank you! ❤😍🥰🎿⛷️
Interesting that you mention the TV-right situation (specifically in north america) because just recently listened to the Blister Podcast Ski News review with Cody Townsend. He mentioned exactly that. If I remember right, he mentioned something like only having them on a streaming service which is way overpriced for what it actually provides. But don't quote me on that... Just came to mind hearing this. Regarding TV-rights it has not been a problem at all here in Switzerland. The only two things I could say are that sometimes i wished they would have interviews with the riders on the podium. Where sometimes the story of someone on third place would be as interesting as the one of the top spot or other Swiss riders further back. And they should definitely have a reserve chair for the interviews at World Champs (and if you ask me, having some wine, beer or Raclette etc. makes the interviews way more relaxed, i guess Aleks will approve of that...) ;-)
After i saw you first in 2011 i said to my dad that you will be amazin in the future! My heartbeat goes up every race ! Your are amazing❤ and whats even better you are so down to earth. Is one of my dreams to meet you once in my life! Thank you for all the emotions ❤
Outstanding and really good point on getting the sport more on TV. I think exceptional athletes like yourself will help in getting more exposure for the sport and getting more people wanting to watch. Well done and hope the videos dont stop in between seasons
Her focus, gratitude for her team and obvious love of competing are an inspiration. Mikaela S. is an amazing individual. And a good dancer! 😆🤣 Keep enjoying the ride!! USA is so proud of you!!!
What a great video! Thank you for sharing theses moments :) I don't even ski, but it's always a pleasure and honor to be able to see a glimpse of what being a peak athlete is, so truly thank you for that. Apart from being an exceptional athlete, you seems to be an even greater human being. Also the production quality is as always top notch. Congrats to the camera man and editor! The story-telling, music choice and edit are freaking awesome!
Wonderful series. My 9-year old daughter (and myself) are yuuuuge fans. You have no idea how many times I use your achievements, your positive attitude and your work ethic as an example with, well, pretty much everything that's challenging, from skiing to Math. Always works!
Great episode! You're so right about the abysmal TV coverage. This is the first time in many years that I couldn't figure out how to watch the races. Even paying for yet another streaming service didn't look like it would let me see all the races. I only watched the US Ski Team updates on Facebook, and of course this channel. At least last year you could buy the Peacock Season Pass to see all the races. This year was terrible. I hope they figure something out that lets us see all the skiing in one place.
I had to subscribe to both Peacock and US Ski & Snowboard Live Alpine Pass to be able to see them all, it was super confusing and then when she approached the record Peacock seemed to WAKE up and allow access to all European races, but only Live. US S&S were on demand as well.
Appreciate you sharing the feelings and emotions you have during race season. Happy that you have so much love and support from everyone around you. Can't wait for next season
Her passion for skiing and racing Vs “winning” is so refreshing. Just thrilling to watch her ski. Celebrate with her fellow podium winners too. I really like how she mentioned about TV / viewership capability. It sucks here in the US! Congrats on an amazing year. Words don’t do it justice what you accomplished on and off the hill. ⛷
I was in the queue for a lift out of meribel on 5th/6th feb, as I got to the front the gate didn’t open 😢 I looked to my right and mikaela was stood next to me in the athletes lane and was getting on the lift in front of me 😮 I’ve never been starstruck in my life, all my friends who I was skiing with now think I’m weirdo because they’re not really into the racing, I didn’t stop going on about it for the rest of the week 😭🤦🏽♂️
Yes, keep up the good fight about broadcast limitations. I was shocked that the only legitimate access I had as an American was just the two events at the U.S. sites.
Mikaela, I’m sorry, but I Love You! Not kidding! You have inspired me for so many years & I even used your example in a presentation I did for my company a couple of weeks back! “don’t concentrate on the win, focus on the next gate!” was my message. I communicated that this is your philosophy (a few good turns), but had to modify for the Pharmaceutcal industry 😊 Regardless, people in my company were actually inspired of this aspect (received positive feedback), and that was my hope, even though a good 90% of the room (huge international conglomerate) didn’t know who the B.O.A.T. (Best Of All Time) even was! Thank you for being part of my life, both personally & professionally, because sometimes it takes the kind of inspiration you provide to me, to inspire other’s of their capabilities 🙏💙 Can’t wait for your next episode!!!
What a great point about accessibility for the fans. I am so thankful for the coverage from Skiandsnowboardlive this season. It is nuts that watching races on US soil is so difficult though. We did make our pilgrimage to Kitzbuhel this year, it was pretty cool watching your boy win there too! Makes a US ski racing fan wish we had even a fraction of the skiing culture they have in the Alps. Congratulations on a great season and thanks so much for this amazing insight into your career.
I found this completely inspiring and your monologue about experiencing every moment left me feeling quite emotional. Thank you for this series of videos, they are wonderful.
Congratulations, Mikaela! 🎉 It was such a challenge to watch this season from the US, but I was dedicated. The morning you beat the record was my first time skiing, which was always a bucket list item for me, and this made it so very special, as I've followed you since your first Olympics. I'm so excited for you, as you can now ski absolutely free! ⛷
Okay, I'm an old guy from Oregon who has never skied and only found your channel this week. Your explanation of all the emotional prep necessary outside of how you feel today, this morning at race time made me weep. That's not because i'm old, it's because it was eloquent and heartfelt. I don't believe I've ever heard an athlete say it better. Then, I see you can shuffle too! :-))
Dear Miki! Thank you for letting us all into your life this season and making us feel all the emotions - even intimate ones - you went through while resetting records, winning races, and trophies. I feel I have a better understanding of the life of a pro athlete and what it means to be on-spot all the time. The way you handle all the ups and downs along the way. I could also get to know what a fantastic person you are. I hope I'll see you next year on and outside the track and wish to see you break 100 wins. Fly high, girl!
Mikaela ! Awesome episode 5...cool to see and follow you ! Congrats !! I have a great love for alpine skiing and My home country, Norway. And then you go and click with another idol of mine, besides you and Axel Lund Svindal of course...you're just ticking all the boxes girl !! But I tiny Question!: what music is pumping in the background.... Produced specifically for episode 5 or ?
This series from you point of view is so inspiring and interesting, could watch it in ever free Minute i have. Thanks for sharing All this. Here in Hamburg, Germany there is not much skiing and snow but i love watching you races. You are such a role model and theses behind the scene Videos are perfectly made, keep going!:)
Congrats on a great season, enjoyed watching you complete. Back when the Mahre brothers were competed with Ingemar for wins and globes I became a follower of Word cup ski racing. Your competition with many other competitors continues that interest and I hope to see it continue. I agree 100% with your comments regarding accessibility of viewing ski racing in the US, not a good situation this season.
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see what you do next season! It was incredible for you to take us behind the scenes even before it became historic, thank you!
Such an inspiration. I was both great full, and sad how all season long it was you constantly posting where and how to watch your races. That can't continue to be on you. Hope next season it will be more streamlined. ❤❤
The greatest sporting achievement I have ever witnessed (except for maybe when Dave Ryding won Kitzbühel 😅), Mikaela, you are a true inspiration, a sporting legend! Congratulations on a milestone achievement and becoming the greatest of all time! Keep being you, can’t wait to see what you bring next season! ⛷️🤩
"How are we supposed to have fans in this sport if people are not able to watch it?" Great question from a very smart girl, but NBC Sports won't show the races unless we pay a subscription. Ugh! I followed the season as best I could without seeing many races. Very disappointing to have missed seeing more of this incredible season.
Yeyy, another great episode 🎉 Just an idea, you could renew the In My Head series (maybe with Aleks too :) This season had some spectacular races, so it would be funny to see your perspective and thoughts going through them ;) Congratulations on your phenomenal season! And thanks for being the greatest role model 🤍
Biggest congrats to Mikaela and her family and staff.... I think that Mikaela is the most likable athelete in the world. She seems to love people and make people happy... Please stay healthy and hit the "Century" mark of worldcup wins...
@@mikaelashiffrin Thank you for your kind reply.. I'm sad since the Worldcup season is over. Worldcup skiing is one of ony two live TV broadcasts I follow and now I have to wait 9 months for the next season.. Have well deserved rest and great off-season (I know that you will spend lot of time for the training though...) I am a South Korean and I watched your race at Pyongchang. I hope see you again soon.... Thank you again for bringing great joy last season...
Need to find a Twitch heavyweight to do a collab with for more exposure, this really should reach a wide audience!! Mz Shiffrin is one of the humans that can raise everyone up just a bit and for some be a lifetime inspiration.
10:40 I never noticed this before, but RagMow is like a celebrity lookalike for Amanda Seyfried! 16:33: After you retire hopefully a very, very long time from now, you'll have a place booked on Dancing with the Stars for sure...
Like most of my trophies (except for the really really special ones), I gave my two Krakonoš' away (to my friend's nephews) so they have a good home and hopefully they can find inspiration through the gift!
I love these vids. I think it’d be cool if they came out a little faster (maybe shorter then) so u could really feel ur “live” there with Miki, but I also like to kinda relieve the moments again. Maybe during the season the first and after like this one
Good feedback! We have a small team, and transferring files in Europe with the wifi situation has proven to be a challenge, but we are working to make improvements as we move forward!! Thank you!
If you have that specific veritgo again, submerge your head in water and blow air out your nose while covering one ear, then the other. Make it ice cold water. Right as rain after.
Not trying to be a party pooper but... In the 1970-80's , the World Cup had no SuperG and no Parallel Slalom/City Event. And the World Cup had fewer races during the Olympic years. When comparing to Stenmark, to be fair, we need to remove about 8-10 wins which puts Michaela still behind. Now, there is no doubt she will break Stenmark's record. She is the greatest. It's just not done yet. Note that for the World Championship, it works the other way around: Christl Cranz had the benefit of World Championship held every year. Michaela has technically more medals than her (but less gold) if we remove two years in mid 1930's.
Don’t think there is anything to add here. Mikaela has shared it all, the motivation, the dedication, the heartbreak and joy and the truth to her success. Such a privilege to watch and in a little way feel a part of her team. This video should be shown in schools all over the World. A heartfelt congratulations and thank you for sharing.

hahaha! true!
Appreciate you sharing the feelings and emotions you have during race season. Happy that you have so much love and support from everyone around you. Can't wait for next season
Wow :)) every single day every single moment
Thank you Champ!!
I was in the queue for a lift out of meribel on 5th/6th feb, as I got to the front the gate didn’t open 😢
I looked to my right and mikaela was stood next to me in the athletes lane and was getting on the lift in front of me 😮
I’ve never been starstruck in my life, all my friends who I was skiing with now think I’m weirdo because they’re not really into the racing, I didn’t stop going on about it for the rest of the week 😭🤦🏽♂️
😂😅😂
Thank you so much, by the way - really appreciate it.
2 replies on 1 comment from the 🐐? 😮 🥰
Yes, keep up the good fight about broadcast limitations. I was shocked that the only legitimate access I had as an American was just the two events at the U.S. sites.
Mikaela, congrats on becoming the G.O.A.T.--and it's nice you could share it with your family. :)
I just love watching you race and I'm anxiously awaiting the start of the next season already! Enjoy the off-season!
Please keep making these videos!
I'll keep making them as long as you keep watching them! 🤩
I found this completely inspiring and your monologue about experiencing every moment left me feeling quite emotional. Thank you for this series of videos, they are wonderful.
Thanks for sharing and congrats! :)
The turns are amazing. I love that feeling when the ski engages and you can just rocket around. It's too much fun, and never mundane :)
These have been awesome to watch.
you made me cry , no pro i have been around is as great as you
Brilliant👏👏👏
Mikaela is such a pleasure to watch. I look forward to next season and wish her good luck.
Greatest skier-great production!
I have a feeling that she’s gonna end her career in Äre when she decides.
Congratulations Miki! ❤
Great series. Thanks for allowing these intrusions into your life! Waking up with BPV... been there done that... awful as a skier!
Great episode Mika!😊 Thank you so much for all episodes❤
Fantastic video!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and emotions during those unforgettable weeks!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!
Thank you Mikaela for the wonderful performances, Snow White of our time! I am proud to be a woman, with you!
There is Jordan, brady , woods , lindsey and then you have the real goat .
Mikaelia you absolutely rock.....
So inspiring history Mikaella. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep safe and enjoy the path ❤
Thanks for sharing these precious moments with us! ☮❤
The best there is the best there was the best there ever will be.
Thanks for sharing that Miki. Amazing as always ❤ love u
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see what you do next season! It was incredible for you to take us behind the scenes even before it became historic, thank you!
Into 3 figures next season 🙌🏽
@@ShalomBrother I hope so!! That would be insane!
@@torch_k8110 14 wins this season, 17 in 2019…..it’s definitely a possibility
Simply awesome!!! Thank you for sharing your Self with all of us.
Congratulations on your accomplishment , you truly make me proud to be an American !
Watching this as I'm training on my stationary bike. Very inspiring. Way to go Mikaela!
I love your videos, they‘re such an inspiration for me not to give up❤️
Please continue doing this for the rest of your career! Love It!
What a season. Incredible 😊
What an inspiration! Cheers and thank you.
I feel so lucky to have been watching you since your first WC win. What a ride!
Fantastic! Loved every minute of this. Especially enjoy watching you interact with the fans.
Such an inspiration. I was both great full, and sad how all season long it was you constantly posting where and how to watch your races. That can't continue to be on you. Hope next season it will be more streamlined. ❤❤
Just brilliant.
Yeyy, another great episode 🎉 Just an idea, you could renew the In My Head series (maybe with Aleks too :) This season had some spectacular races, so it would be funny to see your perspective and thoughts going through them ;)
Congratulations on your phenomenal season!
And thanks for being the greatest role model 🤍
Thank youuuuu! That's a great idea!! Maybe something I can do in the offseason. 🙃
@@mikaelashiffrinI would love to watch you analyze them!!
Biggest congrats to Mikaela and her family and staff.... I think that Mikaela is the most likable athelete in the world. She seems to love people and make people happy... Please stay healthy and hit the "Century" mark of worldcup wins...
Wow, thank you so much🙃
@@mikaelashiffrin Thank you for your kind reply..
Great 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Some exercise in winter as a youth, which is over far too quickly and will never return. Dancing on skis and afterwards.
I had BPPV about 4 years ago. I'm betting your PT used the Epley maneuver to help you. It's amazing how effective it is!
💙💙💙
Need to find a Twitch heavyweight to do a collab with for more exposure, this really should reach a wide audience!! Mz Shiffrin is one of the humans that can raise everyone up just a bit and for some be a lifetime inspiration.
10:40 I never noticed this before, but RagMow is like a celebrity lookalike for Amanda Seyfried!
16:33: After you retire hopefully a very, very long time from now, you'll have a place booked on Dancing with the Stars for sure...
The Krakonoš has to be on the trophy shelf. He's cool!
Like most of my trophies (except for the really really special ones), I gave my two Krakonoš' away (to my friend's nephews) so they have a good home and hopefully they can find inspiration through the gift!
Love that!
That last scene was hysterical
😅
🐐 🐐🐐😘
I love these vids. I think it’d be cool if they came out a little faster (maybe shorter then) so u could really feel ur “live” there with Miki, but I also like to kinda relieve the moments again. Maybe during the season the first and after like this one
Good feedback! We have a small team, and transferring files in Europe with the wifi situation has proven to be a challenge, but we are working to make improvements as we move forward!! Thank you!
Great video! Wondering how Emma Lundell is doing?
Too funny. I just saw her at the end of your video. I’m so happy that she’s aok! Wonderful.
@@914Rocky She is doing well, and it's so nice to be able to catch up with her every year when we go to Åre!
If you have that specific veritgo again, submerge your head in water and blow air out your nose while covering one ear, then the other.
Make it ice cold water.
Right as rain after.
If u are able to wiggle your ears, do that too.
How slippery are your skis? Do you ever feel like you are standing on jelly?
Petition to get Mikaela on Dancing With the Stars!
hahaha
