Your words made me smile. They're wonderful performers. I think they deserves all the love and support for their amazing songs that makes the mind to travel in awe while being entertained. Have you been to their concert before?
I'll never forget the night I saw Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers 40th Anniversary in Ottawa Canada with the Webb Sisters as backup vocals! Haunting and moving performance with incredible harmonies altogether! I'd give anything to relive that night. R.I.P. Tom Petty. October 1st 2017, we lost a true legend of music.
Perfect example of Leonard's gift for words that he always refers to them as "The sublime Webb Sisters". For so they are. "Blood harmony" folks, and Cohen's true voice...
This is as perfect an example as you could find of a lyric driven song with instrumentation that augments and enhances the words. They match perfectly.
If it be your will That I speak no more And my voice be still As it was before I will speak no more I shall abide until I am spoken for If it be your will If it be your will That a voice be true From this broken hill I will sing to you From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing If it be your will If there is a choice Let the rivers fill Let the hills rejoice Let your mercy spill On all these burning hearts in hell If it be your will To make us well And draw us near And bind us tight All your children here In their rags of light In our rags of light All dressed to kill And end this night If it be your will If it be your will
Rest in peace Leonard Cohen, my husband and I cried some tears this morning,on the news of his death, it would be so fitting if the Webb sister could get back together just this once to perform some of his songs . the King of expressive poetry the champion of oppressed and the the man who could move are emotions like no other, bless you Leonard. rest in peace.
I was working at a gaming convention the day it happened. My wife noticed the news earlier in the day and chose to wait until we got back to our hotel room to tell me. It was a good thing she did. I cried with her that evening.
It has been a little over a year since Leonard Cohen left this world on his journey into the unknown. I try to listen to his music every day and sometimes the tears still flow. His was a great and important voice for all of humanity.
The Webb Sisters do such a beautiful rendition of this song of Leonhard's. I can easily see why he had them on his tour. They add so much feeling to it, glad to be one that has experienced it!
the night he died i laid under my kitchen table and played this song-his version-over and over. i don't know why i wept so hard, old men die every day. it was pure selfishness, his life was full and accomplished. i pitied my own stupid self that i'd never hear another new cohen song, or read another poem he'd written. i used "if it be your will" to remind me that there was so much more life in those words and their meanings than one body or life could hold. i'll play leonard cohen records for my son. i'll read him his poetry. that beauty-born of nervousness and hurt-will live on long after, if it be his will.
If it be your will That I speak no more And my voice be still As it was before I will speak no more I shall abide until I am spoken for If it be your will If it be your will That a voice be true From this broken hill I will sing to you From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing If it be your will If there is a choice Let the rivers fill Let the hills rejoice Let your mercy spill On all…
see you in berlin twice at l.conen..... i fallen in love. i fallen in love.... in the o2 arena i was near beside. i hope, that is good englisch. i see you and leonard near beside me, 5 or 10 meters. i love you!
Thank you for this reverent and heart-full performance. I was starting to prepare a church service for next Sunday when a friend recommended this song. The scheduled text from Hebrew scripture for the week was Genesis 22: 1-14, the Offering of Isaac! I wonder what story Leonard had in mind when he penned this lyric....
Too bad Leonard writes and records with Sharon and Anjani when he could be utilizing the Webb Sisters and Jennifer Warnes more. A too bad he uses cheesy synth and electric guitar sounds in his recent music when he could go back to traditional ethnic instrumentation...or at least take notes from Johnny Cash and Tom Waits on how to write cool music when you're old. Cohen is the best poet around but he needs musical help.

This is my favorite version of this song. Let the rivers fill, let the hills rejoice :)
Pure magic brings Leonards words to life
Leonard Cohen, your voice will remain embedded deep in our hearts forever.

Its a shame!!!
Perfect. A testament to the inspiration of Mr. Cohen, a true musical genius.
If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will
If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well
And draw us near
And bind us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will
If it be your will

Such a beautiful song! Thank you Mr. Cohen and the Webb sisters!
Mr. Cohen showed his ability to find the right word, the perfect adjective, when he always referred to them as "The sublime Webb sisters."
When I hear this I cry. But I love it! Beautiful.
I've got the chills. Beautiful.
This is the most awesome rendition of this song ever.
Magnifique ! Thank you so much. Léonard Cohen missed me.

Goodbye, Leonard. Your voice is still, like it was before.

Cohen had an early and quite stunning telling of the story of Issacruclips.net/video/PtdYnhnoGI0/видео.html
ווואווו מוש
Does this version of the song have a licensed sheet music for 2-part harmony? I would love to use it for church.
Fabulous but nothing beats Anthony's version for me.
