God I wish DNF Duel had a more active player base. I'll see a new character and think they look really cool to the point of strongly considering redownloading. Then boom, 15 active players on steam charts, with a 24 hour peak of like 30
It's frustrating how much they fumble the marketing for this game in the west. I really do love Dungeon Fighter Online and seeing its fighting game counterpart not getting any attention is maddening.
@@froggy2247 Granblue is of course nowhere close to Strive numbers, but it's doing incredibly well for a relatively new anime fighting game. I love Granblue, but considering it and DNF Duel are very similar in their roots (both from popular games in the east with a cult following in the west) it's kind of sad to think Granblue is what DNF could've been
DNF didnt really take off cuz of it's really simple gameplay. I think those striker one hit kill combos ON BLOCK really cemented this game as a kusoge in a lot of peoples minds.

Having characters is cool and all but when that's all you got going for you with no extra single player content, minigames, proper balance, or literally anything other than the main story and ranked, the game slides down so hard. It's a real shame, I really love Dungeon Fighter.

I love 2a Fnen’s design though. Glad they went with that but yes, glad they chose 3a as her ultimate. Though I did imagine if Fnen had her 2a as her Ultimate, they’d animate it like Vegetas Final Explosion 😂

I want this game to do well, I really do. I love playing it, it’s busted in the most fun ways it can be, the characters are sick, and it has real style to it. But the slow drip shadow marketing is not doing it any favors, and I think ArcSys has WAY too much going on with their other games performing so well. No one’s even looking at DNF Duel when we’re all in love with what Granblue and Strive are offering. I should be hype for a character reveal, but in 6 seconds of footage I don’t even really know what I should be hype about.
Also as someone who mostly plays Inquisitor Ranger and Specter, gotta be honest: the last 3 characters of the DLC all being Pugilists from the same base branch isn’t really doing it for me. Was really hoping for a bit more variety since the pass started so strong with Specter and Battle Mage They’ll be fun to fight against, but I’m not seeing myself purchasing them.

What DNF DUEL needed to thrive would be; 1st Put the original name of the characters instead of just their classes. 2nd Place the endings for each character in Arcade mode, so that the player can have fun watching the endings of each character, knowing a little about their history. 3rd Create new game modes to distract offline gaming.
People who rag on DNF now are the kind of people who stop enjoying a game because it doesn't have enough views on twitch. Absolutely amazing game, and once all the inevitable "best fighting game you mever played" videos of fgc content creators drop in a couple of years the tune towards this gem will change. I swear, people unlearned to enjoy things.
It's less about that and more about how the game as a fighting game, in order for it's life cycle to be healthy, requires a healthy playerbase. Your logic works for games that don't have emphasis on the ability to play against others, but DnF duel isn't one of those... it's competitive element is literally it's strongest and most cared for feature... and yet it doesn't have the playerbase to sustain it.

It truly upsets me to see this game fizzle out, especially with great character designs like this. I hope arcsys learns valuable lessons from how this game was handled, and I wish the best of luck for the Dungeon & Fighter franchise

A game with no marketing can’t compete with legacy fighters like SF or Tekken. They needed a his game to be featured everywhere for it to work.
