- The film is based on the classic work of the same name by Japanese manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi
The top delinquent of Petaya Shiki High School, Urayasu Yusuke (Ekai Kitamura), spends his days loafing around, fighting and being a terrifying presence that everyone fears. One day, after beating up his arch-enemy Kazuma Kuwabara (Shuuhei Uesugi), he dies in a car accident while trying to help a young boy who ran out into the road to pick up a ball. As soon as his soul leaves his body, a guide on the way to the Yellow Springs, Peony (Furukawa Kotone), appears and takes Yusuke to Yama (Machida Keita). He learns from Yama that Yusuke's actions were an unexpected turn of events, and that he has been given the opportunity to accumulate merit and be resurrected. As a result of this accident, Yusuke meets friends such as the demon fox Zouma (Jun Shizun) and Flying Shadow (Satoru Hongo), and faces off against fearsome rivals from the demon world, such as the Togoro Brothers (Kenichi Takito & Tsuyoshi Ayano)
